Farmers Urged to Join FPOs for Better Income and Sustainable Agriculture in Aija Seminar.
Farmers Urged to Join FPOs for Better Income and Sustainable Agriculture in Aija An awareness seminar on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) was organized at the Aija Farmers' Association Office under the aegis of the Aija Mandal Farmers' Association. The event aimed to educate rural farmers about the benefits and functioning of FPOs in strengthening agriculture and increasing farmers' incomes. Former BJP Jogulamba Gadwal District President S. Ramachandra Reddy and Aija Town BJP President Kampati Bhagat Reddy attended the program and addressed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Ramachandra Reddy emphasized that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, had launched the PM-Kisan FPO Scheme in 2020 with the vision to double farmers' income by organizing them into productive and self-sustaining groups. He explained that the central government is encouraging the formation of FPOs — collective organizations of farmers — with the goal of increasing productivity and improving marketing access for agricultural and allied sector produce. The government offers financial support to these FPOs, empowering them to operate as independent business entities. Examples of FPO activities include: Supplying inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals Renting out agricultural machinery like tillers, sprinkler sets, and harvesters Providing services related to storage, transport, and logistics for farm produce Ramachandra Reddy urged farmers to understand that unity is strength. Individual farmers often face challenges alone, but as a group, they can overcome many of these issues collectively and achieve success. He encouraged the establishment of more FPOs, especially in rural and tribal areas, where farmers can register under MACS (Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies) or as Farmer Producer Companies. It was noted during the event that over 10,000 FPOs have already been established across India, with around 600 in Telangana and a similar number in Andhra Pradesh. Incentives for FPO Members: Farmers who become FPO members are eligible to receive free saplings of mango and sweet lime (up to 4 acres per member). This benefit has encouraged many to come forward and join the movement. The Central Sustainable Agriculture (CSA) center has also called upon farmers to take the initiative in forming their own local FPOs. Farmers were advised to visit the FPO office located behind the Guest House in Aija to register. Membership costs ₹1,100, and if a member later decides to opt out, ₹1,000 will be refunded. The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers. Prominent among those who attended were Aija FPO CEO Vineeth, Rangu Venkatesh, Lakshman Goud, Rangu Krishna, Kalyan, Narsimhulu, Advocate Venkatesh, Raghu, Bhimesh, Nagaraju, along with many other farmers from nearby villages. The event served as a motivating and informative platform, aiming to empower the rural farming community to build a sustainable and cooperative future through FPOs.

Joorala-to-Pakala Water Diversion Plan Sparks Outrage: BJP Leader Warns of Mass Agitation in Palamuru
Gadwal: Joorala-to-Pakala Proposal Sparks Fresh Controversy: BJP Leader S. Ramachandra Reddy Warns of Mass Agitation Jogulamba Gadwal, Telangana – The long-dormant proposal to divert water from the Joorala project to the Pakala reservoir has once again resurfaced, triggering strong opposition from regional political leaders and farmers. Former Jogulamba Gadwal District BJP President S. Ramachandra Reddy has expressed serious concern over Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's recent remarks at a high-level engineering officials' meeting regarding this contentious proposal. Speaking at a local gathering, Ramachandra Reddy questioned the logic and feasibility of transferring water from the Krishna Basin to the Godavari Basin, especially when over 1,000 TMCs of water flow unused into the sea from the Godavari River annually. He pointed out that rather than tapping into the Godavari River, which flows near Pakala, the proposal illogically suggests transporting water over 400 kilometers from Joorala. He emphasized that critical irrigation projects within the undivided Mahabubnagar (Palamuru) region, such as RDS (Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme), Nettempadu, Gattu, Bheema, Koilsagar, Kalwakurthy, and Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project, remain incomplete. Reddy argued that proposing a new inter-basin transfer project without first completing these long-pending schemes is not only impractical but also unjust to the farmers of the region. "How can the government justify a new plan involving an expenditure of nearly Rs. 2 lakh crores, when the existing projects haven't even been completed?" he asked, adding that this approach undermines the decades-long irrigation struggles of the region. Recalling the year 2014, when a similar proposal was first introduced, Ramachandra Reddy said, 'Back then, massive protests were launched across all constituencies of the undivided Mahabubnagar district, and we are prepared to do it again if necessary.' He called upon the state government to immediately complete all existing irrigation projects in the region, including extending RDS to its tail-end ayacut and ensuring the completion of Nettempadu, Gattu, Bheema, Koilsagar, Kalwakurthy, and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects. Failing that, he warned, the BJP along with local farmers and the public will initiate a large-scale agitation to protect the district's water rights and development interests. The meeting witnessed participation from several prominent local leaders, including Aija Town and Mandal BJP Presidents Kompati Bhagat Reddy and Gopalakrishna, as well as Lakshman Goud, Nagaraju, and other activists. This development marks a critical moment in the region's water politics, as voices grow louder for prioritizing local irrigation needs over grand inter-basin proposals.

BJP Demands Urgent Paddy Procurement in Venisompuram, Warns of Mass Protest Over Government Negligence
Gadwal: In a strong statement against the alleged negligence of the Congress-led Telangana government, former BJP district president S. Ramachandra Reddy demanded immediate procurement of paddy harvested by farmers in the district. The remarks were made during a visit to the paddy procurement centers in Venisompuram village, under the leadership of BJP Mandal President Gopalakrishna. Speaking at the event, S. Ramachandra Reddy expressed deep concern over the plight of local farmers who, despite having harvested their paddy over 40 days ago, are yet to receive any response or action from concerned authorities. He pointed out that even after conducting moisture tests, no procurement tokens were issued for nearly 20 days, leaving farmers in distress. He criticized the state government, stating, "The Congress government, which claims to prioritize farmer welfare, has utterly failed in its promises. They cannot even provide basic gunny bags for procurement, let alone the promised Rs. 500 bonus. The majority of farmers in Venisompuram village, a key paddy-growing area in Aija mandal, are still waiting for government support." Reddy further highlighted that no official or public representative has visited the village to inspect or set up a proper procurement center. He lamented that the village was not even allocated a Rythu Vedika, an initiative set up in previous years to provide shelter and support for farmers and their produce during rains, wind, or animal disturbances. 'The absence of Rythu Vedika here shows how neglected this village is—both within the mandal and in the broader state agenda,' he said. He added that farmers are collectively voicing their anguish, as none of the promises made by the Congress government have been fulfilled so far. He also criticized the government's excuse of gunny bag shortage as "ridiculous" and said it reflects the Congress administration's incompetence in handling agricultural procurement and welfare. 'Despite promises to provide extensive welfare benefits to the state's four crore citizens, the reality on the ground is dismal,' Reddy asserted. He warned that if immediate action is not taken—by deploying officials and public representatives to Venisompuram, conducting moisture tests, issuing procurement tokens, and starting loading operations—the BJP along with farmers will launch a massive protest and dharna. The event saw the participation of BJP Town President Lakshman Goud, Venisompuram Booth Presidents Seenu, Srihari, Basavaraju, and a large number of local farmers, who stood in solidarity demanding justice and timely procurement of their paddy.
