SCIA President Meets with Egyptian Ambassador to Discuss Bilateral Ties
Manama: Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), recently received Reham Abdelhamid Khalil, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Kingdom of Bahrain, to discuss the robust bilateral relations between their nations. According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed emphasized the enduring and strong ties between Bahrain and Egypt. He highlighted the commitment of both countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to enhance cooperation across various sectors. The Egyptian Ambassador, Reham Abdelhamid Khalil, praised the solid relationship between Bahrain and Egypt, with particular emphasis on religious and cultural collaboration. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented a gift from Dr. Osama Al Azhari, the Minister of Endowments of Egypt. The gift, a collection of religious and scholarly publ ications issued by the Ministry, was in recognition of the strong intellectual and spiritual connections shared by the two countries.

Eid Al Fitr on Sunday in Bahrain
Manama: Bahrain will celebrate the first day of Eid Al Fitr on Sunday, corresponding to March 30, 2025, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) announced. According to Bahrain News Agency, the moon-sighting panel, which comprised scholars Shaikh Adnan bin Abdulla Al Qattan, Dr. Shaikh Fareed Yacoub Al Miftah, Dr. Shaikh Ibrahim Al Muraikhi, and Shaikh Rashid bin Hassan Al Buainain, convened on Saturday evening, the 29th of Ramadhan, 1446 AH, corresponding to March 29, 2025, to receive reports and testimonies regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon. The SCIA extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as the Royal Family, the people of Bahrain, and the Islamic world on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

Muslims around the world are eagerly looking forward to the celebration of Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Since Islamic months can be either 29 or 30 days long, the end of Ramadan depends on the Moon sighting. In the UAE, the moon was spotted on Saturday, meaning Ramadan would have lasted 29 days, and Eid would be celebrated on Sunday. Residents were in for a well-deserved four-day break to enjoy the festivities. Countries around the world were also on the lookout for the Shawwal crescen t, and those that spotted it on Saturday have already declared Sunday, March 30, as the first day of Eid Al Fitr. Here are all the countries that have confirmed Sunday as the first day of the Islamic festival so far: UAE The UAE's Moon sighting committee declared March 30 as Eid Al Fitr after the Shawwal crescent was spotted on the evening of March 29. This means that UAE residents will get a four-day break to celebrate the Islamic festival, in the first long weekend of 2025. This aligns with the official UAE holiday calendar which had said that the Eid Al Fitr holiday would be from Shawwal 1 to Shawwal 3. This year, an official announcement added that Sunday March 30 (Ramadan 30) will also be a paid holiday. Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia had announced on March 29 that Eid Al Fitr will fall on March 30 in the Kingdom after the spotting of the Shawwal crescent. The country has announced a four-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors, according to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. Bahrain Bahrain's Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) announced that the country will be celebrating the first day of Eid Al Fitr on Sunday, corresponding to March 30, 2025. The following countries will also be celebrating on Sunday, March 30, after the Shawwal crescent was spotted in their skies.

Bahrain calls for moon-sighting to mark start of Eid Al Fitr 2025
Bahrain has called on people in the Kingdom to look out for and report sightings of the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday. The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) has announced that the Moon Sighting Committee will convene on the evening of Saturday, Ramadan 29 1446 AH, corresponding to March 20 2025, to receive testimonies on the sighting of the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal. The sighting of the moon will mean the end of Ramadan 2025 and the start of the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
