Auburn baseball remains No. 10 in latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll
Auburn baseball remains No. 10 in latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll Auburn remains a top 10 team ahead of this weekend's regional play In the latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll, the Auburn Tigers remained at No. 10 in the rankings despite failing to win a game in the SEC Baseball Tournament last week in Hoover, Alabama. Auburn lost 3-2 to the Texas A&M Aggies in the second round last Thursday. However, the Tigers did receive good news. They were rewarded as the host of the regional round for the third time in four seasons. Joining the Tigers for the Auburn Regional are NC State, Stetson, and Central Connecticut State. The new rankings saw some movement at the top. The North Carolina Tar Heels jumped to No. 1 from No. 3 the week prior. After winning the SEC Tournament Championship over Ole Miss, Vanderbilt jumped five spots from No. 9 to No. 4. Ole Miss saw a big jump going up five spots with a ranking of No. 15. LSU dropped from the No. 1 ranking to No. 3 after their semifinal exit to Ole Miss in a 2-0 loss. The remaining SEC teams in the rankings were Texas (No.2), Arkansas (No. 5), Georgia (No. 6), Tennessee (No.16), Florida (No. 18), and Alabama (No. 20). The Tigers struggled with the bats in their 3-2 loss to Texas A&M. Auburn only had six hits and did not score a run until the fifth inning. Lucas Steele and Eric Snow did hit two home runs in the game. Auburn will enter their regional game against Central Connecticut on Friday losing three of four games. They previously had been playing well, winning five games in a row. The game against Central Connecticut will be broadcast on ESPN+ with a start time of 6 p.m. CT. Texas A&M star OF makes 2025 SEC Tournament All-Tournament Team
Texas A&M star OF makes 2025 SEC Tournament All-Tournament Team Texas A&M's (30-26) 2025 baseball season is likely over after the Aggies' 4-3 Quarterfinal loss to LSU in the SEC Tournament this week, as the NCAA Tournament is likely a pipe dream given the program's poor record, despite finishing with 13 wins in conference play, including consecutive wins over Mississippi State and Auburn this week. Texas A&M's excellent pitching was outshined by junior outfielder Jace LaViolette, whose broken left hand didn't prevent the star but returning 24 hours later to the lineup to deliver two of the Aggies' three runs on the night, which was truly miraculous to watch. If the Aggies' season is indeed over, LaViolette finished as the NCAA active leader in home runs with 68, including a team-high 18 this season paired with 51 hits, while hitting a career-low .258 at the plate. During the SEC Tournament, LaViolette had two hits, including a home run and 6 RBI, and was unsurprisingly named to the 2025 SEC Baseball All-Tournament Team as a designated hitter. Here is the rest of the list at every position after Vanderbilt took home the SEC Tournament Championship on Sunday afternoon. P: Hunter Elliott, Ole Miss P: Connor Spencer, Ole Miss C: Cannon Peebles, Tennessee DH: Jace LaViolette, Texas A&M 1B: Riley Nelson, Vanderbilt 2B: Judd Utermark, Ole Miss 3B: Brodie Johnston, Vanderbilt SS: Jaxon Willits, Oklahoma OF: RJ Austin, Vanderbilt OF: Hunter Ensley, Tennessee OF: Richie Bonomolo Jr., Alabama Most Valuable Player: Brodie Johnston, Vanderbilt Texas A&M coach Michael Earley and his 2025 roster will wait and see if they will be selected in the 2025 NCAA Tournament on Monday afternoon, which is a long shot, but as we've seen in the past, crazier things have happened on Selection Monday. The SEC Championship game between Texas A&M and Oklahoma has been canceled
AI-assisted summary Texas A&M run-ruled Texas 14-2 in the SEC Tournament semifinal. The championship game against Oklahoma was initially rescheduled due to rain, then ultimately canceled. Texas A&M and Oklahoma were declared co-champions. This is Texas A&M's first SEC Championship title in program history. No. 1 Texas A&M (45-9, 16-7 SEC) run-ruled the Texas Longhorns 14-2 on Friday night during the SEC Tournament semifinal round, just a day after run-ruling South Carolina on Thursday evening. Entering Saturday, the Aggies are the hottest team in the country and have earned a spot in the SEC Tournament Championship against perennial contender Oklahoma. However, due to inclement weather in Athens, Georgia, the Championship game had been moved up to noon CT., but the rain continued to pour down in the Peach State, leading to the first delay of the afternoon. Given that the game had already been moved from its original 6:00 p.m. start time, the trend regarding if both teams would meet on Saturday was less than favorable. Just an hour after the first delay, it was revealed that SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey decided to cancel the Championship Game and reward Texas A&M and Oklahoma as co-champions, which technically serves as the Aggies' first SEC Championship in program history. Here is Sankey's official announcement regarding the cancellation: For both teams, this is not the way they wanted to go out before entering the NCAA Tournament, especially for an A&M team that was looking to outright earn an SEC Championship amid the program's best season under head coach Trisha Ford. Why Sankey couldn't reschedule the game for Sunday is confusing, and given the early part of the afternoon, it's also a surprise he and his team didn't wait longer for the rain to potentially stop. Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma in the SEC softball Championship has been delayed
Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma in the SEC softball Championship has been delayed No. 1 Texas A&M (45-9, 16-7 SEC) run-ruled the Texas Longhorns 14-2 on Friday night during the SEC Tournament semifinal round, just a day after run-ruling South Carolina on Thursday evening. The Aggies are the hottest team in the country and have earned a spot in the SEC Tournament Championship against perennial contender Oklahoma. However, the Championship game has now been pushed back multiple times due to inclement weather in Athens, Georgia, as the matchup was previously moved up to noon CT. before the rain began to pour in during the early parts of Saturday afternoon. While the game is expected to be played sooner than later, this does open the possibility of a momentum shift. Scoring 14 runs against a respectable Texas team is nothing to scoff at, and with the Aggie offense, led by KK Dement, Amari Harper, Mac Barbara, and Mya Perez, the pitching staff, especially ace Emiley Kennedy (21-4) have been nothing short of stellar, and are more than ready to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. Getting past the Sooners is the first step, however. Until the tarp is removed from the field, and the rain stops for at least a couple of hours, it is not expected that the game will start. Right now, rain is forecasted throughout the day in Athens, so prepare for an elongated wait time moving forward.
