Auburn baseball remains No. 10 in latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll Auburn remains a top 10 team ahead of this weekend's regional play
In the latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll, the Auburn Tigers remained at No. 10 in the rankings despite failing to win a game in the SEC Baseball Tournament last week in Hoover, Alabama.
Auburn lost 3-2 to the Texas A&M Aggies in the second round last Thursday. However, the Tigers did receive good news. They were rewarded as the host of the regional round for the third time in four seasons. Joining the Tigers for the Auburn Regional are NC State, Stetson, and Central Connecticut State.
The new rankings saw some movement at the top. The North Carolina Tar Heels jumped to No. 1 from No. 3 the week prior. After winning the SEC Tournament Championship over Ole Miss, Vanderbilt jumped five spots from No. 9 to No. 4. Ole Miss saw a big jump going up five spots with a ranking of No. 15. LSU dropped from the No. 1 ranking to No. 3 after their semifinal exit to Ole Miss in a 2-0 loss. The remaining SEC teams in the rankings were Texas (No.2), Arkansas (No. 5), Georgia (No. 6), Tennessee (No.16), Florida (No. 18), and Alabama (No. 20).
The Tigers struggled with the bats in their 3-2 loss to Texas A&M. Auburn only had six hits and did not score a run until the fifth inning. Lucas Steele and Eric Snow did hit two home runs in the game. Auburn will enter their regional game against Central Connecticut on Friday losing three of four games. They previously had been playing well, winning five games in a row. The game against Central Connecticut will be broadcast on ESPN+ with a start time of 6 p.m. CT.

Where Wisconsin football's class of 2026 ranks nationally after Jack Janda's commitment

Where Wisconsin football's class of 2026 ranks nationally after Jack Janda's commitment Wisconsin football's class of 2026 rose significantly in the national rankings following tight end Jack Janda's commitment on Wednesday. Janda, who committed to the Badgers following his official visit this past weekend, became the 11th athlete to offer his pledge to Luke Fickell's class of 2026. The pass-catcher's addition elevated Wisconsin's national ranking from No. 34 to No. 27. Notably, Janda is Wisconsin's fifth commitment in his class since Sunday. He joins tight end Jack Sievers, defensive lineman Arthur Scott, linebacker Ben Wenzel and defensive lineman Djidjou Bah as players to commit after the May 30 visit weekend, a strong indication of what could transpire during other visit windows this summer. Prior to the recent string of commitments, Wisconsin's class of 2026 took a hit when defensive lineman Carmelow Reed flipped his commitment to Ole Miss. With Janda, Sievers, Scott, Wenzel and Bah joining the fray, coupled with wide receiver Tayshon Bardo reaffirming his commitment to Fickell's program, UW has officially turned the corner in the 2026 cycle. Wisconsin's next batch of targets includes linebacker McHale Blade, wide receiver Jayden Petit, running back Amari Latimer, offensive tackle Kamari Blair and athlete Jackson Ford, all of whom visited Madison this past weekend alongside Janda. As of June 4, Wisconsin does not boast a blue-chip recruit in its class of 2026. In terms of Janda as an individual prospect, 247Sports lists the three-star prospect as the No. 818 player in the class of 2026, the No. 43 tight end and the No. 12 recruit from his home state of Michigan. He is Wisconsin's fifth-highest-ranked commit in the class. For more on the Badgers' pursuits in the 2026 cycle, bookmark our class of 2026 tracker. It's hard for Bo Nix to explain how big this factor is in 2025

It's hard for Bo Nix to explain how big this factor is in 2025 Bo Nix hasn't had this kind of continuity since high school. For the first time since playing prep football in Pinson, Alabama, in 2018, Nix is approaching a football season with the same play caller from his previous season. Yes -- you read that right -- in three years at Auburn and two years at Oregon, Nix never had the same play caller in back-to-back seasons. That is set to change in 2025 as Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton -- the team's play caller -- is entering his third season with the club and second year with Nix as his QB. 'It's huge," Nix said after the first week of organized team activities. "It's kind of weird going back to the first install, it's not new verbiage and not new things. It made it a lot easier this year. Now, it was tough to learn it last year, but being in a system and getting right back to where we were, just being able to call plays and understanding what it's like — going longer than 365 days just hearing the same thing, I think it's going to be really beneficial. "Honestly, it felt weird because it hasn't been since high school. I'm just used to learning different things, so it's good not to have to learn an entire new system this year and have the same play caller and have the same quarterback coach. [Also], the same guys you're throwing it to. The same center and the same [offensive] line. Being the same, it's going to be — it's hard to even explain. You're going to see it in ways that you can't even understand. It's just a natural thing to go out there and just pick up right where you left off and not have to restart.' Payton said when Nix hears and then delivers plays in the huddle this year, they "run off his tongue," unlike last year when Payton had to repeat the plays for Nix. "It's just a lot different," the coach noted. Nix having familiarity with the offense -- and coaching staff -- going into Year 2 only increases the likelihood of the young QB taking a big leap in his second season. Stay tuned. It's almost Bo Time. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Red Sox-Tigers Trade Idea Centered Around $123M All-Star Should Terrify Yankees

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Boston Red Sox are in fourth place in the American League East and could end up being sellers by the time the July 31 trade deadline approaches. They reportedly have received some trade interest for All-Star outfielder Jarren Duran. Duran was an All-Star last year, but may be the odd man out in Boston. The team has Ceddanne Rafaela signed to a long-term extension and Wilyer Abreu under team control until 2030. Sooner or later, they are going to have to make a move to get Roman Anthony in the big leagues. Duran has the most trade value and is older than his fellow outfielders. If Duran is available, many teams, not just contenders, could be picking up the phones to try and get him. However, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer proposed this trade that would send him to the Detroit Tigers. Red Sox receive: RHP Jackson Jobe and SS Bryce Rainer (Tigers No. 3 prospect) Tigers receive: OF Jarren Duran "They ought to be in World Series or bust mode after a 40-22 start to the year, and adding Duran would further super-charge an offense that has been a pleasant surprise," wrote Rymer. "It needs Duran's speed, as the Tigers' 21 stolen bases are the fewest in MLB. Because the Tigers are set with Riley Greene in left field, Duran could take over in center and put a stop to a revolving door that has seen seven players start at the position. This would free Javier Báez up to be a proper super-utility man." CLEVELAND, OHIO - APRIL 27: First base coach José David Flores #58 of the Boston Red Sox holds back Jarren Duran #16 as Duran yells at a fan during the seventh inning against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field on April 27, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio. MoreThe Tigers went on an improbable run to the postseason last year, going 39-26 in the second half and reaching Game 5 of the American League Division Series. They have picked up right where they left off and have the best record in baseball. They are ahead of the New York Yankees in the American League standings, but adding Duran could really threaten the Yankees' reign as American League champions. Duran is hitting .273/.318/424 with four home runs and a league-leading six triples. He would add some serious speed to their team on the basepaths and deepen their lineup. If the Yankees watched the Tigers trade for Duran, it could put them in a tough spot for years to come. Duran is under club control through 2028 and is projected to earn a six-year, $123 million deal on the open market. The Red Sox are unlikely to pay him after paying Rafaela and with Anthony ready to become a pillar of the team. More MLB: MLB Insider Tags Mariners As Landing Spot For AL East Infielder
