Wai Ching is elected new Sabah Golf and Country Club president

Kota Kinabalu: Yong Wai Ching was elected as the new president of Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) for the 2025/2026 term at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday. Wai Ching secured a decisive victory with 398 votes, ahead of Lim Choon Yang who mustered 193 votes. Advertisement For the post of Deputy President, Datu Khalilulrahman Datu Khalil emerged victorious with 347 votes, defeating Oan Beng Khean who garnered 226 votes. Anthony Ho Tze Lung was elected as the Captain, receiving 393 votes against Roeshan Krishnamorthi with 195 votes. In the race for Secretary, Julia Hwong Huay Huay won with 339 votes, beating Jerry Ong Cheong Beng who received 250 votes. The post of Treasurer was won by Wong Wee Kiat @ Kenny with 342 votes, over Aaron Yong Jun Yee who received 213 votes. Advertisement Additionally, Aaron Pong Kang Jie, Yannik Mohd. Anuar, Lo Siew Ming, David Lo Ho Ping @ David Lo, Elizabeth Shanmuganathan, Wong Fu Vui, Nigel S.C. Majalang, Loh Boon Hon, Sim Fui and Chu Cheong Yin were elected to the General Committee. A total of 601 votes were cast by members, reflecting strong participation and engagement from the club's community. The election is expected to bring in a forward-looking leadership team focused on driving innovation, fostering unity, and building upon the club's distinguished legacy. Advertisement The proposed key office bearers include Ian Yong Wai Ching as President, Datu Khalilurrahman Bin Datu Khalil as Deputy President, Anthony Ho as Captain, Julia Huvong as Secretary, and Kenny Wong as Treasurer. Ten members are also vying for seats on the General Committee, among them Wong Fu Yui, Aaron Pong, Kang Jie, Yannik Bin Mond Anuar, Nigel Majalang, Ben Jamin Lo Siew Ming, Elizabeth Shanmuganathan, David Lo Ho Ping, Chu Cheong Yin, and Sim Fui.
