Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha has issued a stern warning that criminal cases will be filed against anyone who diverts even a single kilogram of fertiliser. Amidst the ongoing Kharif season, he emphasised that the government is giving top priority to farmers' welfare and ensuring an abundant supply of fertilizers. During a teleconference with officials from the agriculture, cooperative, and revenue departments, the collector stated that there is no shortage of fertilisers in the district. He directed officials to maintain continuous supervision to ensure that every farmer receives their rightful share of fertilisers. He stressed the importance of transparency and accuracy in all fertiliser transactions. 'Every record, both physical and online, must be perfect,' he said. He also urged officials to educate farmers on the appropriate use of fertilisers and to avoid over-purchasing. According to the collector, the district currently has a total of 23,820 metric tons of fertilizers, including 6,388 metric tons of urea, as well as DAP, MOP, SSP, and other complexes. He highlighted the multiple benefits of using Nano fertilisers, such as Nano urea and Nano DAP, noting that they improve crop quality and yield while reducing soil, air, and water pollution. He explained that Nano fertilisers are more affordable than traditional ones and are easy to spray. To address any complaints or provide information regarding fertiliser supply, a control room has been set up at the Collectorate with the number 91549 70454. He ordered that this number be prominently displayed at all fertilizer shops and societies. Be alert for rains and floods, officials directed In a separate directive, the collector instructed officials to be on high alert for heavy rains and potential floods over the next three days. He ordered that clear warning boards be displayed at all river crossings and streams. He also stressed that officials must remain in the field to continuously monitor the situation. The teleconference was attended by joint collector S Ilakkiya, District Agriculture Officer DMF Vijayakumari, and other senior officials.

Ignite Cell inaugurated

Vijayawada: As part of the Swarnandhra @ 2047 Vision Plan, the Ignite Cell was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Collectorate premises by Joint Collector S Ilakkiya. This initiative falls under the purview of the District Women and Child Welfare Department. During the event, officials detailed the various services being provided through Anganwadi Centres. They elaborated on programmes such as pre-school education, Baal Alert, Baal Sanjeevani Kit, growth monitoring, provision of eggs and milk, take home ration (THR), and Poshan Vatika. Furthermore, explanations were provided regarding the services offered by the One Stop Centre, adoption procedures, the Child Helpline number, and the programmes conducted by the District Child Protection Unit. CDPOs Bhanumathi and Jyothsna, DCPO M Rajeshwara Rao, Durga Bhavani, Johnson, Kiran Kumar, and other officials were present.

9 lakh to take part in Yoga Day events in NTR district

VIJAYAWADA: NTR district is set to celebrate International Yoga Day in a festive atmosphere on June 21, with nearly 9 lakh participants expected across 650 ward and village secretariats, according to NTR District Collector G Lakshmisha. The Collector, along with Joint Collector S Ilakkiya, held a video conference with Municipal Commissioners and MPDOs on Thursday to review preparations. He said the district's programme is part of a massive state-wide initiative, with around 2 crore people set to participate. Highlighting the main State-level event in Vizag, where PM Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will take part, Lakshmisha said nearly 5 lakh people would join the event there. He directed officials to ensure arrangements such as LED screens, laptops, and internet connectivity at local venues to enable live telecast and mass participation. The main district-level celebration will take place at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada, where a common yoga protocol will be followed. He instructed that the Swachhanda programme be conducted simultaneously with Yoga Day activities to promote cleanliness and community engagement.

Vijayawada: As part of the Yogandhra, the NTR district administration on Saturday conducted Yoga programm on Kondapalli Khilla. The NTR district collector G Lakshmisha led the Yoga and several hundred local people enthusiastically participated in the Yoga camapign. Joint Collector S Ilakkiya, APNGOs Association state president A Vidya Sagar and others participated. Addressing on the occasion, collector Lakshmisha said the Yogandhra campaign launched on May 21 and would continue till June 21 the International Yoga Day. He said so far Yoga programmes organised at Gandhi Hill, Berm park and other places and on Saturday at Kondapalli Port. He said Yoga is good for health and it helps people live happily. Joint Collector Ilakkiya has suggested the people to cultivate tha habit of Yoga and spend some time every day for it.
