Watch: Jasprit Bumrah Reveals Childhood Memories Of Samosa And Bhujia

Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah recently revealed some of his cherished childhood memories associated with popular Indian snacks. On a video shared on SPORTbible's YouTube channel, Bumrah can be seen trying different delicacies from the UK as well as India. The format of the segment, called "Snack Wars," meant that he had to pit the foods against each other and choose one in each pairing after tasting them. Jasprit Bumrah took his time evaluating each snack and didn't always make the obvious choice. The video has since gone viral on social media and received a lot of interest online. The first duo presented to him is Scampi Fries from the UK and Bhujiya from India. Jasprit Bumrah tries the fries first and calls them "very nice." He adds, "This is a bit like cream and onion, isn't it? I know this is fish, but quite interesting." He then goes on to open the packet of bhujia. Bumrah recalls, "My sister and I have had this quite a lot. We used to share it." He also smilingly revealed that he used to fight over this beloved snack with her, arguing over how much of it each of them should get. After tasting the Indian treat, Jasprit verbalises his dilemma: "Do you go with nostalgia or do you go with new taste?" He ends up picking the scampi fries because they're "very new" to him and because he's had a lot of the bhujia already. In another part of the segment, he talks about how samosas used to be a special snack in his house growing up. When Bumrah opens the cloche and spots the Indian snack inside, he notes, "My mother used to give this as a treat to us. There was a shop nearby that I, as a youngster, would go on my bike and get it for my family. So this has got a lot of memories... I have been eating it since I was a child." The UK food item given to him alongside the samosa is a baked cheese and onion puff. Bumrah tastes it and expresses his appreciation for it. However, he ends up choosing samosa as the winner because of his childhood memories. The "Snack Wars" segment also makes Bumrah choose between pickled walnuts and pakoras, fish & chips and chicken biryani, and Twiglets and chakli. Some of his choices may surprise you. Watch the complete viral video below. The comments section of the viral video was full of praise for Bumrah's humility and openness, among other positive remarks.

Jasprit Bumrah made to choose between British vs Indian snacks. But the cricketer can't resist three Indian favourites

Appearing on SPORTbible's YouTube channel for a lighthearted round of Snack Wars, Bumrah had to choose between popular treats from India and the United Kingdom. With each round bringing a fresh clash of flavours, his reactions were just as entertaining as his first battle saw the UK's Scampi Fries go up against India's beloved bhujia. Bumrah grinned as he noted the portion size difference. A bite of the Scampi Fries reminded him of cream and onion — something he'd never tried before. The bhujia, meanwhile, stirred childhood memories of fighting for the last bite. In the end, Scampi Fries took the win over India's came a surprising pairing — pickled walnuts versus pakoras. While Bumrah acknowledged that fried food is tasty, the pickled walnuts left him baffled. Without hesitation, Bumrah went for the Indian snack, sharing that it's actually a favourite of his wife. His loyalty stayed strong in the next match-up — chicken biryani versus fish and chips — with the biryani easily sealing the win. Jasprit Bumrah picks British snack pickled walnuts over pakoda, says ‘we Indians are generous': ‘That doesn't sound like it would be in my household'

Jasprit Bumrah, India's star pacer, recently appeared on SPORTbible's YouTube channel for a fun round of Snack Wars, pitting popular treats from India against those from the United Kingdom. In each round, he was served one snack from each country and had to make his pick. The first face-off was between the UK's scampi Fries and India's bhujia. Bumrah immediately pointed out the difference in portion sizes with a grin, 'We as Indians, I think, are quite generous.' After biting into the scampi fries, he compared the taste to cream and onion, admitting, 'I have never had this before.' Trying the bhujia brought back childhood memories of squabbles over the last bite. But in the end, nostalgia gave way to curiosity, and he picked the scampi fries. Next came pickled walnuts and pakodas. Although he acknowledged that 'fried food everywhere is famous,' the pickled walnuts left Bumrah amused. Eating one in a single bite, he laughed when someone off-camera said, 'All in one,' before asking, 'I'm at a loss for words. What is this? What do you eat it with?' Bumrah, in jest, also accused the hosts of making him 'the guinea pig'. Still, he chose the walnuts, calling it 'a new taste', though not one he'd have often. When the choice was between twiglets and chakli, Bumrah went for the Indian option, revealing, 'This is actually what my wife loves.' The next round, chicken biryani versus fish and chips, saw him sticking with the biryani after sampling both. Finally, between a Greggs cheese and onion bake and a vegetable samosa, he didn't hesitate before picking the samosa. The video is going viral and the comments section is filled with nothing but love for Bumrah. A user wrote, 'One of the best guests i've seen. Properly gets stuck in, chatting/joking with the crew and being an all round great presence. So many of the other attendees should take note!' Another user commented, 'American here, I don't know anything about British food or cricket or India for that matter, but this guy seems like a cool dude I'd like to grab a beer with.' A third individual wrote, 'Greatest Movie villains are the sweetest persons in real life, scariest bowler to face but a genuinely nice bloke.' Bumrah, who sat out the fifth and final Test of the recent five-match series against England at the Kennington Oval in South London, wrapped up his campaign with 14 wickets from just three appearances. The team management had deliberately limited the Ahmedabad-born pacer to three matches to carefully manage his workload in the longest format. During the series, he claimed two five-wicket hauls, one each in the Tests at Lord's and Leeds.

CM Punk Recalls Triple H Throwing Out His Script Before WWE Promo

CM Punk recalled the time Triple H got rid of the script he was reading on his planned WWE return's promo in November 2023, towards the end of the Survivor Series. CM Punk joked about his historic feud with Triple H and recalled the time the WWE CCO and creative head 'threw out" the script he was reading about Punk's company return promo. WWE fans would remember Punk made a shock return to WWE in his hometown of Chicago at the end of the Survivor Series event in November 2023 after Randy Orton also made his comeback following a lengthy injury break. The veteran wrestler had been away from the WWE scene for almost a decade after a controversial exit. But he signed for a fresh stint with the company two years back, following positive conversations with Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, who had by then transitioned into an administrative role after retiring from the ring. Punk and Triple H were at loggerheads towards the end of the former's first stint, but mended their ways when he made a surprise comeback. Opening about the rivalry they had, Triple H said their disagreements were borne out of 'poor communication", while also claiming that Punk saw him as an 'enemy". The complex relationship between Punk and Triple H has been covered in the upcoming WWE Unreal documentary ahead of Punk's much-anticipated WWE World Heavyweight Championship clash against Gunther at SummerSlam next month. Promoting the series in an interview with SPORTbible, Punk opened up about his topsy-turvy journey with Triple H. 'Nothing's changed, we hate each other! Punk joked, recalling the amusing incident. 'No, I look at him and he's the manager of the football club. I remember when I came back, talking about people going over their time – I come back and I s*** all over Randy's moment at Survivor Series. Randy's been gone, he's rehabbed and he's got a new spine. Here's CM Punk to just step all over it." 'The following week, he's got a match with Dom and they go over on their time and it drastically cuts my promo time. I'm just laughing about it, thinking whatever I don't get to say this week, I'll say next week. I have a piece of paper in my hand with everything I was supposed to say and I keep looking at it. Then Triple H comes over and goes, 'What are you doing man, you're freaking everybody out?'" 'I go, 'What do you mean?' and he says, 'Nobody here has ever seen you hold a script in your hand and read it like you're not going to go out there and say whatever the hell you want'. I was just like, 'Oh, well, I'm kind of new around here, so I don't want to step on anyone's toes.'" 'He grabbed the piece of paper, he crumpled it up and he threw it. He's like, 'You're CM Punk, just go out there and talk to the people. ' That's what I needed to hear. I was trying to move in a certain way and he was like, 'No, you haven't got to do that – just go be you, that's why you're here'. That's why he's great in the position he's in because he's the manager," Punk added. view comments First Published: July 25, 2025, 11:24 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. LadBible publisher faces £2m hit from dollar woes amid US expansion

LadBible owner LBG Media has warned that continued US dollar weakness will hit sales and profits this year. The digital publisher, which has been expanding operations in the US, told investors it had 'done all it can to mitigate the impact', but said a weak dollar could cost it about £2million in revenues and £1million in earnings this year. The US dollar index is down by almost 10 per cent since the beginning of the year as global investors have grown wary of the country's enormous debt pile, weaker economic growth and the impact of trade tariffs. LBG, which owns US female-focused digital media brand Betches, took a £366,000 loss from FX movements over its first half, over up from £15,000 last year. Analysts at brokers Zeus, Investec and Peel Hunt have cut their annual turnover and earnings forecasts for LBG by 2 and 5 per cent, respectively, due to the foreign exchange headwinds. But LBG remains optimistic about increasing its turnover by 10 per cent at constant currency rates this year, despite elevated economic volatility partly resulting from recent tariffs. The Manchester-based group, whose other brands include UniLad and SPORTbible, reported that its sales rose by 13 per cent to £43.9million in the six months ending March. Indirect revenues jumped by 18 per cent to £24.5million following a weak comparative period on social platforms last year. Direct turnover expanded by 8 per cent to £19.3million thanks to a strong performance in the US, where the firm's clients include Netflix, Dunkin' Donuts and PepsiCo. Sales growth far outpaced the rise in costs, helping LBG's adjusted earnings before nasties climb by 18 per cent to £12.2million and pre-tax profits more than double from £3.3million to £8.6million. Solly Solomou, chief executive of LBG, said: 'LBG Media has positive momentum, with double-digit growth in the first half of 2025. 'This reflects our diversified and agile model, which offers blue-chip brands access to the hard-to-reach 16-34 year old demographic. He added: 'Our confidence of progress in the second half of the year is underpinned by our audience, the power of LBG Media's brands, our attractiveness to brands and celebrities, and the relevance of our content.' LBG claims to be the UK's fifth largest social and digital business, with an audience of 520 million as of March, compared to 503 million at the same time last year. The company is attempting to capitalise on two major long-term trends: an expanding digital advertising market and higher purchasing power among the millennial and Gen Z generations. Consequently, LBG is heavily targeting the US market; it acquired the female-focused digital media firm Betches two years ago in a $54million deal. Fiona Orford-Williams, director at Edison Group, said: 'Getting it right in the US is key to LBG Media's growth ambitions, and the Betches acquisition has given a good springboard, as well as broadening out the addressable audience. 'The second half of the year will provide more difficult comparatives, and currency moves are unhelpful, but full-year revenue progress in double figures should be achievable, and the medium-term potential remains positive.' LBG Media shares were 5.3 per cent up at 99p on Tuesday morning, although they have still fallen by over a quarter this year.
