Pat's land former Swansea winger Jordon Garrick

ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC have landed an impressive coup with the acquisition of attacker Jordon Garrick. The winger was most recently with Forest Green Rovers and has made over 130 appearances in English League football, from his beginnings at Swansea City to spells at Swindon Town, Plymouth Argyle and Lincoln City. Advertisement Garrick (27) has penned a contract at Richmond Park until the end of the 2025 season and trained with his new teammates for the first time on Tuesday. In a statement released by the club, Garrick said, 'Things have happened quite quickly over the last few days, it's a very exciting time to be at St Patrick's Athletic and I'm really happy to be here. 'I've enjoyed the first couple of sessions and the lads have helped me settle in really well, I already feel at home here, which is important for a new player moving to a new team. 'I know the manager loves wingers and attacking in the wide areas, that was another appealing thing about the club. I'm a big football fan so I had been following the results of all Irish and British teams in Europe, including St Pat's, so I'm excited to be involved here now.' Manager Stephen Kenny added, 'We'd like to welcome Jordon to the club, he's had a terrific career and we feel he can make a good impact and contribution here, in what will be an intensive period. 'With Zack Elbouzedi being ruled out for the season with a shoulder injury, he'll have an operation soon, and with the injury Aidan Keena picked up last week plus Romal Palmer also being out, it is an area of the pitch we've been looking at. Jordon can play in any attacking areas of the pitch, central but predominantly wide, and had a really good spell with Plymouth in League 1 as well as at Forest Green.'

Mason Melia the man as Saints sink Blues

WATERFORD FC 0 ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC 2 Mason Melia ended a wait of six games for a league goal as his first-half strike proved pivotal for St. Patrick's Athletic as they returned from Estonia to record a 2-0 win over Waterford FC in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division at the RSC on Sunday afternoon. The Tottenham Hotspur-bound striker timed his run to perfection to finish an 18th-minute through ball from Kian Leavy to finish, and after they missed a host of chances to extend their lead, it was substitute Conor Carthy who sealed a card-ridden affair six minutes from time. From the outside, Waterford looked hesitant in defence with Melia unlucky not to convert a Leavy delivery inside five minutes before Conan Noonan had a big chance for the hosts at the other end two minutes later, but he couldn't get a vital touch on the end of Finlay Armstrong's delivery. It was the Inchicore side that broke the deadlock with 18 minutes on the clock when Kian Leavy picked up possession of the ball in the middle of the park before releasing Melia, who was kept onside by Ryan Burke, and the Tottenham Hotspur-bound striker fired past the helpless Stephen McMullan. Tommy Lonergan had a penalty appeal turned down on 29 minutes when he went down under a challenge from Anto Breslin, but referee Daniel Murphy waved away appeals, before Mason Melia could have doubled the lead six minutes before the break only to fire inches wide. Lonergan saw a looping header just clear Joseph Anang's crossbar on the stroke of half-time before the visitors started the second-half on the front foot with a big chance coming to their striker just shy of the hour-mark. Leavy and Kavanagh linked up in the middle of the park with the latter playing Melia in between the Waterford defence, before European match-winner, Jake Mulraney saw his angled effort saved by keeper McMullan. Second-half substitute Conor Carthy settled the game for the South Dublin outfit on 84 minutes when he peeled off his marker to get on the end of Kavanagh's teasing left-wing corner-kick to beat keeper McMullan with a left-footed finish from close-range. WATERFORD FC: McMullan; Horton (Miles 59), Boyle (Coyle 84), Leahy, Burke; Armstrong (Dempsey 59); Rossiter (Glenfield 82), McDonald (Olayinka 59); Lonergan, Amond, Noonan. ST. PATRICK'S ATHLETIC: Anang; Sjoberg, Redmond, Grivosti, Breslin (Kazeem 38); Lennon, Leavy, Kavanagh (Robinson 90), Forrester (Baggley 90), Mulraney (Carthy 75); Melia (Power 75). St Pat's threatened with partial stadium closure following fan incidents

ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC have been hit with a suspended partial stadium closure by the FAI's Disciplinary Control Unit following multiple fan incidents. The Inchicore club could see a section of Richmond Park closed if there are any further incidents throughout the remainder of the 2025 season. 'St Patrick's Athletic have been informed by the FAI Disciplinary Control Unit of a suspended partial stadium closure for the remainder of the 2025 League of Ireland season,' a club statement on Thursday read. Advertisement 'This is due to spectator conduct and pitch encroachments, the most recent of which was at our home game against Cork City on 16th of May. 'We have also received substantial fines throughout the season for these incidents. 'An incident of a similar nature in the future could result in the enforcement of a partial stadium closure. 'Whilst all at the club understand the emotion of scoring a last-minute winner, we remind all spectators that conduct such as pitch encroachments, use of pyrotechnics and the throwing of missiles leads to fines and sanctions for the club.'

Impressive Drogheda United put on a show in front of Irish boss Heimir Hallgrimsson

ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC 0 Republic of Ireland head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson saw no goals on his first-ever visit to Sullivan & Lambe Park but witnessed further evidence of the high standards in the League of Ireland's top flight as Drogheda United and St Patrick's played out an entertaining stalemate on Monday evening. After this performance by the home side we can surely expect to see the Icelander at a few more Drogs matches in the coming months, and why wouldn't he because if he wants to see the cream of the crop in the domestic league then this is the place to be! Drogheda's high press almost yielded instant dividends as Warren Davis nearly dispossessed Tom Grivosti and his keeper Joseph Anang in the opening seconds, with the bounce of the ball favouring Pats. Then Darragh Markey pickpocketed Chris Forrester and worked the ball forward to Thomas Oluwa and the striker's cross reached Owen Lambe who flashed a shot just over the bar. Next to try his luck for the league leaders was Shane Farrell whose free kick struck the defensive wall after Davis had drawn a foul from Pat's full-back Al-Amin Kazeem. Oluwa then caught former Drogs defender Joe Redmond napping with his lightning pace and was clean through on goal for a moment before the Pats captain got back to nick the ball away. Drogs skipper Ryan Brennan was lucky to escape uninjured after taking a blow to the face from the boot of Ryan McLaughlin - a challenge that surely warranted at least a yellow card - and it was Brennan who nearly raised the roof with an audacious scissors kick that unfortunately he couldn't direct on target. Pats' only real goal attempt of the first half came on 28 minutes - an off-target long-range header from Redmond - but seconds later Drogheda almost scored as Conor Kane, Markey and Davis were involved in a move which ended with a Farrell 25-yard drive that Anang tipped over the bar. Bolger and Farrell both had attempts stopped by the big Pats keeper and Bolger headed another half-chance well wide at the near post from a Lambe delivery. A measured pass from Keeley reached Davis who was unceremoniously fouled by Kazeem on the right edge of the box and Kane's curling free kick grazed the bar, with Anang well beaten. Pats improved after the introduction of Ardee native Kian Leavy, who was typically industrious and clever in possession, but still the chances came Drogheda's way and Oluwa was close with a header before big claims for a penalty for a foul on Davis were ignored by referee Kevin O'Sullivan. Pats sub Barry Baggley nearly stole all three points for his death in the 89th minute, though, with a 30-yard strike that Luke Dennison did very well to turn round the post. Drogheda: Luke Dennison 7; Andrew Quinn 8, Conor Keeley 8, James Bolger 8; Owen Lambe 8 (Elicha Ahui 87), Ryan Brennan 8 (Luke Heeney 63, 7), Shane Farrell 8, Conor Kane 8; Darragh Markey 8; Warren Davis 8, Thomas Oluwa 8. Subs not used: Aaron Harper-Bailey, Paul Doyle, George Cooper, Bridel Bosakani, Kieran Cruise, Dare Kareem, Jack Brady. St PATRICK'S: Joseph Anang 8; Ryan McLaughlin 6, Joe Redmond 7, Tom Grivosti 7, Al-Amin Kazeem 6 (Jake Mulraney 70, 6); Brandon Kavanagh 7 (Kian Leavy 63, 8), Chris Forrester 7 (Barry Baggley 70, 7), Jamie Lennon 7, Jason McClelland 6; Zachary Elbouzedi 6 (Conor Carty 80, 7), Mason Melia 7. Subs not used: Daniel Rogers, Sean Hoare, Anto Breslin, Axel Sjoberg, Luke Turner. Attendance: 2,546
