Sabah pledges youth empowerment with new initiatives and law

Published on: Sat, May 17, 2025 Text Size: Kota Kinabalu: Sabah's Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin in conjunction with National Youth Day celebrations today reaffirmed the state's commitment to empowering youth through strategic programs and future legislation. Speaking at the Sabah Youth Carnival at Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex, Ellron outlined major initiatives, including the SYABAS youth entrepreneurship scheme, skill-based education, leadership development programs like Felo Sabah Maju Jaya, and youth organizational grants.
Advertisement He emphasized the state's proactive role in preparing for the federal youth age policy transition from 15–40 to 15–30 years by 2026, stressing Sabah's need for a gradual and inclusive approach due to its diverse grassroots structures. Ellron also announced plans for a Sabah Youth Development Enactment, aimed at strengthening youth governance, recognition, and leadership opportunities.
