3 youth detained for performing stunts in moving auto rickshaw on Thane Belapur road

Navi Mumbai: Three youths performing a life-threatening stunt in a moving auto rickshaw on the arterial Thane-Belapur road along Digha station on Saturday were detained by Rabale MIDC police after tracing them to their residences in Digha village on Sunday. The stunt video went viral on social media after it was recorded by a motorist behind the auto rickshaw and posted on X (formerly Twitter) handle @SabSeTezz1 by a social activist-cum-journalist, Binu Varghese from Thane. In the video clip, one youth is seen hanging behind the moving auto rickshaw while the youth at the wheel and another youth on the rear seat are seen leaning outside the vehicle. Sunil Waghmare, Senior Inspector of Rabale MIDC, informed that from the video clip of the stunt, the auto rickshaw's registration number led them to the auto rickshaw driver identified as Amit Kumar Ghuria (22), who was apprehended from Ganesh Nagar in Digha. He revealed the names and addresses of his two friends involved in the stunt, leading to the detention of Akash Chauhan (22), also from Ganesh Nagar, Digha, and Omkar Bhaprap (22) from Ambedkar Nagar, Digha. The three accused were booked under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for rash and negligent driving or riding on a public way, acts that endanger human life or personal safety, along with the Motor Vehicle Act for dangerous driving. The notice directs them to cooperate in the police investigation and remain present in court when summoned after a chargesheet is filed against them."
