KMJG 2025 convoy tours KL constituencies with strong public support
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya wrapped up its tour of three parliamentary constituencies today. Public enthusiasm was evident as crowds gathered to welcome the convoy and receive the Jalur Gemilang flags. Lt Col (PA) Sabarudin Yeop Hamzah, Director Associate of JAPEN WPKLP, highlighted the overwhelming response from residents. He noted that around 3,000 flags were distributed to ignite national pride ahead of National Day and Malaysia Day. The convoy's final stop at McDonald's Pantai Sentral Park saw drive-through participants receiving flags. Sabarudin credited the event's success to collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and the MADANI community. He emphasised the importance of sustaining such partnerships for future campaigns. Public reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with cheerful faces and encouraging feedback observed throughout the route. Supporting agencies included MKN, JBPM, Bernama, FINAS, RTD, and PDRM. The KMJG 2025 flag was handed over to Sabarudin after the Pahang leg concluded on Aug 14. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim launched the nationwide campaign on July 27 in Muar, Johor. The convoy will make 88 stops across Malaysia, including 44 in Peninsular Malaysia and 42 in Sabah and Sarawak. The journey will culminate at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 31 for the National Day celebration. KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (WPKLP) successfully concluded its expedition across three parliamentary constituencies in the federal capital today, garnering strong support from the public. Department of Information (JAPEN) WPKLP Director Associate, Lt Col (PA) Sabarudin Yeop Hamzah, said the convoy's journey from Wangsa Maju to Cheras and Lembah Pantai received a positive response, as people not only turned up to show support but also enthusiastically received the Jalur Gemilang, demonstrating a strong sense of patriotism. "From this morning until this evening, we witnessed tremendous public support, which reflects the awareness among Malaysians. What we need to do is further enhance this campaign," he told reporters after the convoy's final stop at McDonald's Pantai Sentral Park, Lembah Pantai, here. He said some 3,000 Jalur Gemilang of various sizes were distributed throughout the convoy, including to members of the public who stopped by via drive-through at the fast-food outlet, to ignite patriotism and national pride ahead of the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. Sabarudin added that the convoy's success was made possible through close cooperation between government agencies, non-governmental organisations and the MADANI community, who united to deliver a message of unity. "The key to the success of today's convoy was strong cooperation, and I believe this collaboration should continue in the future. If we continue working this way, I am confident that future campaigns will be more effective and impactful," he said. He added that they also witnessed positive reactions from the public, who welcomed the convoy with cheerful faces and provided good feedback regarding efforts to promote patriotism. The convoy received support from various government agencies and strategic partners, including the National Security Council (MKN), Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), National Film Development Corporation (FINAS), Road Transport Department (RTD), and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). On Aug 14, Sabarudin received the KMJG 2025 Jalur Gemilang from Pahang Information Department Director Rohani Chik after the completion of the Pahang leg of the expedition, which covered five districts over three days.

'This morning, JAPEN WPKLP, together with non-governmental organisations, parliamentary offices, government agencies and Suzuki V-Strom bikers, will tour three constituencies in the Federal Territory, namely Wangsa Maju, Cheras and Lembah Pantai,' he told Bernama before the flag-off. The four stopovers were Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) in Wangsa Maju, KWC Fashion Wholesale in Cheras, Institute of Teacher Education Malay Language Campus and McDonald's Pantai Sentral Park in Lembah Pantai. Along the route, the convoy drew public attention as participants waved the Jalur Gemilang from their vehicles and distributed mini flags to members of the public. Sabarudin said the nationwide tour, which began on July 27, is part of efforts to foster patriotism ahead of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations. 'This is a movement to remind Malaysians of their responsibility to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their premises proudly. One home, one Jalur Gemilang -- this is the manifestation of our love for the country,' he said. The convoy is supported by various government agencies and strategic partners, including the National Security Council, Fire and Rescue Department, BERNAMA, National Film Development Corporation, Road Transport Department and the Royal Malaysia Police.
