Thalassaemia ward, Sadarem Centre inaugurated at VIMS

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat stated that the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) has a greater capacity to serve patients compared to King George Hospital (KGH). The MP, along with Vizag East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, inaugurated a newly established Thalassaemia Ward, Sadarem Centre, and other amenities developed in collaboration with Divis Laboratories within the VIMS premises. Speaking on the occasion, the MP emphasised that VIMS has ample space for future expansion. "The state government is committed to the development of VIMS and is working to provide all the necessary infrastructure and human resources. Differently-abled individuals in the city were facing difficulties in obtaining Sadarem certificates, which was discussed in the previous district review committee meeting. In response, the state government has set up a Sadarem camp with 30 slots at VIMS. Initially, the camp will be held once a week, but plans are in place to increase it to twice a week. He noted, "VIMS has not yet been developed to its full potential. However, we are now focussing on its development, considering its capacity." He praised VIMS director Rambabu for his efforts toward institutio's growth.

Disability screening resumes across state after 8-month freeze

Vijayawada: Bringing long-awaited relief to thousands of physically challenged individuals, the state govt has decided to reopen online slots for disability screening under the Software for Assessment of Disabled for Access, Rehabilitation and Employment (SADAREM) from Monday. The screening process had been on hold for the past eight months under the previous regime, citing certificate verification concerns. Several thousands of physically disabled people are left in lurch due the delay in opening the slots for screening as they were unable to access any welfare benefits. The NDA govt briefly opened the window after coming into power and suspended it following objections from the senior officials. The finance department has also escalated a complaint that huge amount is going into the hands of ineligible people in the form of welfare pensions and other benefits due to the possession of certificates. Then, the state govt has decided to go for complete reverification of all the certificates and also disabilities by withholding the disbursement of pensions. In fact, family members of several people with more than 70-90 percent disability approached the local legislators and senior officials with a request to grant exemption from the reverification for such people on humanitarian grounds. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Преносими лазерни заваръчни пистолети, 50% отстъпка LYH Купете сега Undo However, they could do little as finance department is firm on revival of pensions only after completion of the reverification. Taking the demands from public representatives into consideration, the state govt finally directed the health department to resume screening of disabled people under Sadarem. The screening will be taken up two days a week in all designated hospitals across the state. The screening will continue for next three months.
