Man charged with impaired driving after motorcyclist killed in New Brunswick crash

(CTV Atlantic / Callum Smith) A 26-year-old man is facing charges, including impaired driving, after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision near Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.B., early Sunday. The RCMP responded to the two-vehicle collision on Route 11, between exits 75 and 64, around 3:10 a.m. Police say a southbound car had struck a motorcycle that was travelling in the same direction. The motorcyclist, a 36-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., died at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The RCMP issued an update Thursday, saying the driver was later arrested and charged. Janitzio Caravantes of Elsipogtog, N.B., is facing the following charges: operation while impaired accident resulting in death failure to stop after an accident resulting in death failure or refusal to comply with a demand operating a motor vehicle while suspended Caravantes appeared in Moncton provincial court on Wednesday. Motorcyclist dies after collision in eastern New Brunswick
A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle collision in eastern New Brunswick over the weekend. A 36-year-old man from Riverview has died following a two-vehicle collision near Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.B., early Sunday morning. The RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Route 11 between Exit 75 and Exit 64 near Saint-Charles around 3:10 a.m. Police believe the crash happened when a car, which was travelling southbound on Route 11, hit a motorcycle travelling in the same direction. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The Richibucto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office also attended the scene. Both lanes of Route 11 were closed for several hours.
