Salwa Al-Sabah Club wins Squash Federation Cup

KUWAIT CITY, May 25: Salwa Al-Sabah Club (A) team clinched the Girls' Federation Cup Squash Championship after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Al-Qurain Club in the final match. Salwa Al-Sabah Club (B) secured third place, marking a historic double for the club, having already claimed the league title for the 2024–2025 season. The final was held at the late Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah Center in South Surra, the headquarters of the Squash Federation. Federation President Walid Al-Sumaie presented the championship cup to standout player Reem Al-Sawagh, joined by teammates Sarah Al-Ali and Farida Hazem. Colored medals were awarded by Al-Qurain Club President Abdulkarim Al-Shahoumi, Federation Vice President Khaled Al-Habib, Secretary General Hamed Al-Omran, and board member Adel Al-Gharib. Also present were Women's Committee Rapporteur Asma Al-Muqbil and Salwa Al-Sabah Club Treasurer Suad Sadiq. Team administrator Omaima Al-Jamal attributed the club's success to the unwavering support of Board Chairwoman Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who ensured the team had top-level technical and financial resources, including contracts with professional coaches from Pakistan and performance-based incentives for players. 'This achievement is a result of our Chairwoman's continued backing, which motivated the players to earn this honor and place the club's name firmly in the sport's golden records,' said Al-Jamal. She also expressed hope that the Kuwait Squash Federation would coordinate with the Arab Federation to launch an Arab Clubs Championship, which she believes would raise the competitive level of players and positively impact the future of the national team.

DOHA, April 10, (KUNA): Kuwaiti athletes showcased impressive performances at the West Asian Clubs Athletics Championship, which is took place in Doha, Qatar. Haya Al-Tawajar of Al-Fatat Club claimed the gold medal in the 3,000m steeplechase. Aisha Al-Khudher from Salwa Al-Sabah Club won the bronze in the discus throw, setting a new Kuwaiti record with a throw of 40.63m. Additionally, the 4x100m relay team from Al-Qadsia Club, consisting of Hussein Khamis, Nasser Ismail, Jassim Al-Qenaei, and Abdullah Al-Munais, secured the bronze medal in their event. Kuwait is represented by four clubs – Al-Qadsia, Kazma, Al-Fatat, and Salwa Al-Sabah – in the championship, which has attracted around 400 athletes from 22 clubs across 11 West Asian countries.

DOHA, April 9 (KUNA): Kuwaiti athletes delivered impressive performances at the 2025 West Asia Athletics Club Championship, currently underway in Doha and running through April 10. Representing Al-Qadsia Club, Essa Al-Zankawi secured the gold medal in the discus throw with a strong mark of 59.75 meters. His teammate, Sultan Al-Rayes, earned a bronze medal in the decathlon event, adding to Kuwait's medal tally. On the women's side, Mariam Farhan of Salwa Al-Sabah Club clinched third place in the triple jump, while Al-Fatat Club's Yasmin Waleed soared to a silver medal in the high jump category. The championship, which kicked off Monday, features around 400 athletes from 22 clubs across 11 countries. Kuwait is represented by four clubs: Al-Qadsia, Kazma, Al-Fatat, and Salwa Al-Sabah.

Salwa Al-Sabah Club wins Super Cup ahead of international women's volleyball championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: The second edition of the friendly international championship for women's volleyball, hosted by Salwa Al-Sabah Club, kicks off today under the patronage of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governor Sheikh Sabah Badr Al-Sabah. The tournament features eight teams from Arab and international clubs, divided into two groups. Group A includes Salwa Al-Sabah Club, Geneva Club from Switzerland, Akkad Ankaw from Iraq, and Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy from the UAE. Group B consists of the Tunisian national team, the Qatari national team, the Al-Shabiba Al-Bouchrieh Club from Lebanon, and the Al-Ula Club from Saudi Arabia. The competition will run until February 5th. The opening match will take place today at 6:00 pm between Salwa Al-Sabah Club and Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy, at the club's hall in Al-Qurain. Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Salwa Al-Sabah Club, expressed her warm welcome to the participating Arab and foreign delegations, considering Kuwait their second home. She highlighted the success of the tournament's first edition in terms of technical organization, audience support, and the participation of Gulf and Arab teams. The current edition, featuring the inclusion of the Geneva Club from Switzerland, marks the tournament's growing international appeal. Sheikha Naima added, 'The Board of Directors of Salwa Al-Sabah Club has devoted significant attention to this tournament, with committees working diligently in preparation to ensure a successful event and a memorable experience for women's volleyball.' She also extended her sincere appreciation to the Public Authority for Sports and the Kuwait Volleyball Federation for their invaluable cooperation in organizing the event, which aligns with Kuwait's ongoing commitment to supporting sports under the guidance of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, and His Highness the Prime Minister. In a related development, Salwa Al-Sabah Club's volleyball team recently claimed the Super Cup title for the current season, defeating Al-Fatat Club 3-0. The match was held at the Volleyball Association Hall at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex, where Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, President of the Volleyball Association, presented the Super Cup trophy to the Salwa Al-Sabah volleyball team.
