Salwa Al-Sabah Club wins Squash Federation Cup
KUWAIT CITY, May 25: Salwa Al-Sabah Club (A) team clinched the Girls' Federation Cup Squash Championship after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Al-Qurain Club in the final match. Salwa Al-Sabah Club (B) secured third place, marking a historic double for the club, having already claimed the league title for the 2024–2025 season.
The final was held at the late Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah Center in South Surra, the headquarters of the Squash Federation.
Federation President Walid Al-Sumaie presented the championship cup to standout player Reem Al-Sawagh, joined by teammates Sarah Al-Ali and Farida Hazem. Colored medals were awarded by Al-Qurain Club President Abdulkarim Al-Shahoumi, Federation Vice President Khaled Al-Habib, Secretary General Hamed Al-Omran, and board member Adel Al-Gharib. Also present were Women's Committee Rapporteur Asma Al-Muqbil and Salwa Al-Sabah Club Treasurer Suad Sadiq.
Team administrator Omaima Al-Jamal attributed the club's success to the unwavering support of Board Chairwoman Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who ensured the team had top-level technical and financial resources, including contracts with professional coaches from Pakistan and performance-based incentives for players.
'This achievement is a result of our Chairwoman's continued backing, which motivated the players to earn this honor and place the club's name firmly in the sport's golden records,' said Al-Jamal.
She also expressed hope that the Kuwait Squash Federation would coordinate with the Arab Federation to launch an Arab Clubs Championship, which she believes would raise the competitive level of players and positively impact the future of the national team.

Kuwait's World Cup dreams are on the line against Palestine
KUWAIT CITY, June 4: Kuwait will raise the slogan of 'Victory Only' when it hosts Palestine at 9:15 pm at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, in the ninth round of Group B of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. While victory is essential, it won't be enough for Kuwait to maintain hopes of reaching the Asian play-off stage. The team must also defeat South Korea in the final round next Tuesday in Seoul, and hope Oman loses both of its remaining matches. Currently, Kuwait sits at the bottom of the group standings with 5 points, behind South Korea (16), Jordan (13), Iraq (12), Oman (10), and Palestine (6). Head coach Juan Antonio Pizzi has included 26 players in the squad for tonight's match. Junior handball team heads to Croatia ahead of Asian Championship in Jordan
KUWAIT CITY, June 4: The Kuwait junior handball team, composed of players born in 2008-2009, continues its rigorous daily training sessions at the Handball Federation Hall in Daiya. The team is led by Croatian coach Ivan, assisted by national coach Khaled Al-Mulla and team administrator Youssef Shaheen. Kuwait is gearing up to compete in the first Asian Under-17 Championship, scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, from July 1 to 11. This tournament serves as a qualifier for the inaugural World Junior Championship, set to be held in Morocco in late October. Next Saturday, the team will embark on a training camp in Croatia and Slovenia, running until June 25. The camp will feature several friendly matches, after which the team will return to Kuwait before heading to Jordan for the championship. Meanwhile, the 2012-2013 Junior team is also training daily at Daiya Hall under Croatian coach Ten Boy, with national assistant Hassan Saleh and goalkeeping coach Khaled Madouh. Hassan Saleh noted that the national team currently comprises 60 players, selected for their height, skills, and speed. He added, 'As part of the Federation's Board of Directors' strategic plan and the Training Authority's vision, these junior players are carefully chosen and trained daily to strengthen the age-group teams with the best talents for the future.' In addition, Saud Mufrej has been appointed assistant coach of the youth team, with Khaled Madouh continuing as goalkeeper coach for the juniors.
