11 foreigners arrested in Sandakan joint immigration raid
Published on: Tuesday, May 27, 2025 Published on: Tue, May 27, 2025 By: Mardinah Jikur Text Size: SANDAKAN: Eleven foreigners were arrested on Tuesday during a joint operation for allegedly violating the Immigration Act 1959/63 by failing to produce valid travel documents and overstaying in the country. The arrests were made during an integrated operation dubbed Ops Poket, led by the Sandakan District Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Immigration Department, Sandakan Municipal Council and the National Registration Department. Acting Sandakan District Police Chief, Supt. Ramasamy Kuppan said the operation aimed to curb criminal activities and the presence of undocumented migrants, as well as enforce documentation laws and tackle illegal activities in the town centre. Police visit Sandakan orphanage
Published on: Friday, April 25, 2025 Published on: Fri, Apr 25, 2025 By: Mardinah Jikur Text Size: SANDAKAN: Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah and his officers conducted a welfare visit to the Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim Rumah Al-Yakin, here, Tuesday. The delegation was welcomed by the centre's representative cum secretary, Mustarin Abdul Muhim. Ahsmon said the visit was part of their 218th Police Day welfare initiative series. 'Beyond our duty to serve the community, this is our small way of supporting children in need,' he said. 'These children are society's future assets and our shared hope.' During the visit, the police team distributed school supplies and other essential items. 'We hope these contributions would help ease their burden and motivate them to study hard, so they may one day give back to society,' he said. He said they have plans for subsequent welfare visits to retired and ailing police personnel, as well as collaborations with other agencies for similar charitable programmes.
