However, the pace of new submissions slowed compared to the initial days." He added that many ineligible applications were rejected, particularly from parents who do not belong to the BPL or other marginalised categories. "Such applicants are being informed about the eligibility norms," Mishra said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch Bitcoin và Ethereum - Không cần ví! Applications under RTE surpass available seats by 110%

Indore: Admission process for the 2025–26 academic session under Right to Education (RTE) Act is witnessing an overwhelming response across Madhya Pradesh, with over 1.34 lakh applications received so far, exceeding the total number of available seats under the scheme. The application rate has crossed 110%, indicating intense competition for free seats in private schools. Of the total applications submitted, 32,964 were already verified by the education admission process under the RTE is underway across Madhya Pradesh, with more than 93,000 seats reserved for students from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections in private and unaided schools. Indore district recorded the highest number of seats reserved, followed closely by Bhopal. As per the education department's data, 93,822 seats were reserved under RTE across the state for the 2025–26 academic Indore alone, 6,825 seats were reserved under RTE admissions across 1,621 private unaided schools. The city received 7,532 applications so far, pushing the application percentage to 110%, with 2,646 applications verified. Bhopal has received the highest application pressure, with 9,665 applications for 6,124 seats —an application rate of 155%. In contrast, Gwalior saw a lower response with only 3,317 applications against 3,995 seats. Ujjain has a total of 3,430 seats with 4,987 applications, and Dhar has a total of 3,017 reserved seats and 2,598 applications so far."The process is underway and over 1.34 lakh applications have been received so far across MP. With around a week remaining for the application process, the total number of applications is likely to reach 1.50 lakh. The process has been smooth so far, with no complaints from parents regarding the application process," state RTE controller Rakesh Pandey told TOI. The department has also planned to conduct a second round of RTE admission in case seats are left in schools. Private schools affiliated with the MP board reportedly received fewer applications compared to CBSE and other high-profile institutions. Under RTE norms, schools must reserve at least 25% of seats in nursery or Class 1 for eligible children. Applications are being accepted only through online portal, where parents can choose between three and ten schools. If fewer schools are available nearby, fewer options may be district project coordinator Sanjay Kumar Mishra said, despite higher application numbers, many seats remain vacant every year. "Parents prefer to apply only to renowned schools, resulting in high competition for a few institutions while leaving many others with minimal applications," he said. Nearly 30% of total applications in Indore are concentrated in just 35 to 40 top schools, leading to multiple times more applications than seats, thereby necessitating allotments through a lottery system. Authorities urge parents to opt for a broader range of schools instead of limiting their choices to a select few, in order to maximise the chances of their children benefiting from the scheme.

Indore teachers await remuneration for exam duties over two academic years

Indore: Govt school teachers, who served as centre heads and assistant centre heads for class 5 and 8 state board examinations under Rajya Siksha Kendra (RSK) are still awaiting their dues for the past two academic years—2022–23 and 2023–24. Despite repeated follow-ups, the amount of nearly Rs 23 lakh remains unpaid. While the State Education Centre (RSK) sanctioned a budget of Rs 16.63 lakh for the 2024–25 examination session, the backlog of payments from the last two years continues to cause concern among teachers. These teachers were responsible for handling crucial tasks such as managing question paper distribution, photocopying, printing documents, arranging stationery, bags for answer sheets, and other exam-related logistics—expenses they covered from their own pockets. This year, approximately 99,228 students appeared for the exams in Indore district—49,827 in Class 5 and 49,401 in Class 8. Around 314 examination centres were set up across the district, which has 2,686 MP Board-affiliated govt and private middle schools. The RSK fixed rates for various exam-related tasks—Rs 4 per question paper for Class 5, Rs 6 for Class 8, Rs 20–30 per centre for packing, Rs 400 per day for contingency, Rs 5,000 for Jan Shiksha Kendras, and Rs 10,000 for evaluation centres. Funds for the current year have been transferred to the District Project Coordinator (DPC) through the DigiGOV portal. However, centre heads claim that despite performing their duties diligently, they were not reimbursed for two consecutive years. Evaluation centres set up for checking answer sheets have also not received their share of funds. Indore DPC Sanjay Kumar Mishra said, "While this year's budget has been allocated, the status of the pending dues from previous years would have to be verified."
