The recently released film 'Sant Tukaram' is facing resistance from a certain section of the audience. The film's shows in Pune have been cancelled after a commotion. The cancellation of shows comes in the wake of the concerns raised by the Sant Tukaram Sansthan. Talking about the same, director Aditya Om said, 'In Pune city, the majority of shows of the film 'Sant Tukaram' have been disrupted. The disruptions come in the wake of objections raised by the Sant Tukaram Sansthan, following which the Pune Police have issued an advisory". 'Sant Tukaram' is touted to be an ode to the 17th-century saint-poet whose devotional verses redefined resistance and spirituality. The film charts his evolution and his soul-stirring Abhanga compositions. Aditya further mentioned, 'The advisory states that, in view of the concerns raised by the Sant Tukaram Sansthan, cinema halls across Pune city have been alerted and advised to take necessary precautions to avoid any untoward incidents. As a result, most theaters have decided to cancel the film's shows. It is important to note that the film was granted a U certificate by the Censor Board without any cuts. This entire situation has directly impacted the film's screenings, causing significant financial losses to the makers". The film's writer and director have stated that 'Sant Tukaram' has been made with complete devotion, with the sole purpose of spreading the values and teachings. The film stars Subodh Bhave, Arun Govil, Shishir Sharma, Sanjay Mishra, Shiva Suryavanshi, Sheena Chohan, Hemant Pandey, Ganesh Yadav, Lalit Tiwari, Mukesh Bhatt, Gauri Shankar, Twinkle Kapoor, Rupali Jadhav, and DJ Akbar Sami. He can't find the right idol, yet he wants to build a temple of Lord Vithoba. When he miraculously awakens from his dream one night, he finds an idol in his kitchen garden. Tukaram is the son of moneylender Bolhoba, who comes from the same family as the renowned Vitthal followers. Despite working in the moneylending and account management industry, Bolhoba was still an appointed member of a disenfranchised community. Young Tukaram was determined to combat the discrimination that pervaded society because he was not immune to its dogmas and prejudices. Due to his older brother's contemplative personality and lack of interest in everyday life, Tukaram got married young and took control of the family business. Due to the frequent illness of his first wife, Tukaram remarried. His second wife, Avali (Sheena Chohan), was a shrewd and pragmatic individual. Early in life, Tukaram suffered tragedy when he lost his parents, first wife, and son to illness and starvation. After being shaken by these tragedies, he became very devoted and spiritual. The true core of the narrative is the climax. Therefore, one must watch it to find out what occurs at the end. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The film's main driving forces are actors Sanjay Mishra, Subodh Bhave, Sheena Chohan, Twinkle Kapoor, and Arun Govil. Each of them has performed their roles well. Shiva Suryavanshi, Hemant Pandey, Lalit Tiwari, Rupali Jadhav, Mukesh Bhatt, Gauri Shankar, and Shishir Sharma have also left their mark. All artists have, in general, done their best. This film demonstrates the charisma of Aditya Om's direction. He has made an effort to highlight every potential incidence from that time period. In addition to the director, the cinematography is excellent and does a fantastic job of capturing the natural settings. The dialogue, narrative, and script are all quite enticing and, for the most part, validate that time period. Overall, this is one of the finest period/historical movies of the year that beautifully showcases the life and journey of the great Sant Tukaram ji Maharaj. So, why wait? Delhi BJP chief joins symbolic Pandharpur Yatra to celebrate 800-year-old tradition
New Delhi [India], July 6 (ANI): Celebrating a centuries-old tradition rooted in devotion and community spirit, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Virendraa Sachdeva joined hundreds of participants in the fifth symbolic Pandharpur Yatra held in the national capital. The event mirrors the annual Pandharpur Wari in Maharashtra, one of India's most well-known pilgrimages, dedicated to Lord Vitthal. Speaking to ANI during the event, Sachdeva said, 'This is Pandharpur yatra that is carried out all over in Maharashtra with lot of excitement and devotion. This is an 800-year-old tradition that was started by Sant Gyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram.' He added, 'This is our 5th wari (Yatra) in Delhi. We have been trying continually to organise such Yatras in Delhi where everyone can participate. We celebrate this Yatra of Vitthal with a lot of excitement and faith.' The Pandharpur Wari, also known as the Pandharpur Yatra, is a major Hindu pilgrimage that brings together thousands of devotees, known as Warkaris. Every year, they walk around 250 kilometres to reach the holy town of Pandharpur in Maharashtra. Held in honour of Lord Vitthal, a form of Lord Vishnu, and his consort Rukmini, the Wari has been followed for centuries. It is closely associated with the teachings and lives of revered saints like Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, who are credited with starting and popularising the tradition. Large processions, known as Palkhis, begin from the towns of Dehu and Alandi--birthplaces of Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar. These processions carry the sacred footwear (padukas) of the saints and are followed by thousands of devotees. This year, the Palkhi of Sant Tukaram set off from Dehu on June 18, 2025, while the Palkhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar departed from Alandi on June 19, 2025. The pilgrimage ends in Pandharpur on Ashadhi Ekadashi, which falls on July 6, 2025. Throughout the Wari, devotees sing traditional devotional songs called abhangas, perform kirtans, and chant the name of Lord Vitthal. Many also take a holy dip in the Chandrabhaga River before seeking blessings at the Shree Vitthal Rukmini temple by touching the feet of the Vithoba idol. (ANI)
