‘Sant Tukaram' movie review: Subodh Bhave & Arun Govil starrer biopic is poetic & beautiful
Director: Aditya Om
Director Aditya Om's 'Sant Tukaram' is a biopic of 17th-century Marathi saint and great devotee 'Sant Tukaram' Maharaj
Vishambhar (Sanjay Mishra), a famous devotee and the ancestor of Sant Tukaram (Subodh Bhave), is introduced at the beginning of the story. He can't find the right idol, yet he wants to build a temple of Lord Vithoba. When he miraculously awakens from his dream one night, he finds an idol in his kitchen garden. Tukaram is the son of moneylender Bolhoba, who comes from the same family as the renowned Vitthal followers. Despite working in the moneylending and account management industry, Bolhoba was still an appointed member of a disenfranchised community. Young Tukaram was determined to combat the discrimination that pervaded society because he was not immune to its dogmas and prejudices. Due to his older brother's contemplative personality and lack of interest in everyday life, Tukaram got married young and took control of the family business. Due to the frequent illness of his first wife, Tukaram remarried. His second wife, Avali (Sheena Chohan), was a shrewd and pragmatic individual. Early in life, Tukaram suffered tragedy when he lost his parents, first wife, and son to illness and starvation. After being shaken by these tragedies, he became very devoted and spiritual. The true core of the narrative is the climax. Therefore, one must watch it to find out what occurs at the end.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
The film's main driving forces are actors Sanjay Mishra, Subodh Bhave, Sheena Chohan, Twinkle Kapoor, and Arun Govil. Each of them has performed their roles well. Shiva Suryavanshi, Hemant Pandey, Lalit Tiwari, Rupali Jadhav, Mukesh Bhatt, Gauri Shankar, and Shishir Sharma have also left their mark. All artists have, in general, done their best.
This film demonstrates the charisma of Aditya Om's direction. He has made an effort to highlight every potential incidence from that time period. In addition to the director, the cinematography is excellent and does a fantastic job of capturing the natural settings. The dialogue, narrative, and script are all quite enticing and, for the most part, validate that time period.
Overall, this is one of the finest period/historical movies of the year that beautifully showcases the life and journey of the great Sant Tukaram ji Maharaj. So, why wait? Go and watch it in your nearest cinema hall.

Tiger Shroff embodies PKL's fierce spirit in new ad
JioStar has unveiled the second film from its action-packed campaign for Season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League , titled ' Ghus Kar Maarenge. ' The film features actor Tiger Shroff in a charged cinematic spot that sets the tone for the new season. This marks the second installment in a series of campaign films that will roll out across regions in the lead-up to PKL Season 12 which begins on August 29, 2025, live and exclusive on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network . Conceptualised by creative agency ZeroFifty, the adrenaline-pumping film opens to a group of agitated thuggish neighbours baying for a confrontation with Shroff at the gates of his house. He steps out in his own inimitable style, completely unfazed, and slowly walks towards them, emulating the controlled aggression seen in Kabaddi players. As Shroff comes face to face with the neighbours, he defiantly challenges them saying, ' Ghus kar maarne ki baatein toh sab karte hain, par yahaan hum kar ke dikhate hain ' (everyone talks about going on the offensive and striking, but here we do it and show it). Thematically, Ghus Kar Maarenge underscores the aggression and high-impact action that the league promises this season, rallying fans to witness kabaddi at its fiercest. The film concludes with the thought that it's not just about talking tough—it's about backing it up, just like kabaddi heroes do. The film has been released in Hindi and Marathi. 'This is going to be the most exciting season of Pro Kabaddi League yet. With changes in the format and gameplay that promise even more edge-of-the-seat action, we wanted a campaign and a face that embodies this elevated intensity," said a JioStar Spokesperson. "In Tiger Shroff we found the perfect personality and the idea of ' Ghus Kar Maarenge ' aptly articulates the mindset of every player who steps onto the mat.' Speaking on being a part of the campaign, Shroff said, 'Being part of the Pro Kabaddi League feels raw, real, and truly Indian. There's an unmatched intensity in Kabaddi, it demands not just strength but fearless intent and total conviction. I've always admired how sports unravel our competitive side, and Kabaddi in particular showcases the sheer grit, resilience, and determination in every player. As we gear up for the most high-octane season yet, I'm excited to witness India's toughest athletes rise to the challenge once again.' The jury lauded the way she portrayed the character. In her speech, the actress expressed how the award is like a new beginning for her. Nakshatra Medhekar's acceptance speech At the event, while accepting the honor, the actress said, "This honor is more than an award—it is a new beginning. Preparing for 'Mog' pushed me to learn a new language and embrace a culture I wasn't familiar with. I am grateful that the effort was recognized. This recognition motivates me to take on more meaningful, challenging roles across films, TV, and web series." More about 'Mog' The film has been directed by Jojo D'Souza and tells a tender story of love, struggle, and human relationships. Medhekar plays Selina, the daughter of a Goan baker, whose simple life is caught in layers of emotional complexities. The jury lauded this sincerity, calling her performance the 'emotional anchor of the film.' 'Mog' went on to win eight awards in total, including the title of Best Feature Film (Konkani), cementing its place as the highlight of this year's festival. Sanjay Dutt To Team Up With Mahesh Manjrekar For Hindi Remake Of Marathi Film?
The actor will be next seen in the upcoming action thriller, Baaghi 4, co-starring Tiger Shroff, Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu. Sanjay Dutt is reportedly in talks to collaborate with filmmaker-actor Mahesh Manjrekar for the Hindi remake of a popular Marathi film. If things go well, then it will mark another exciting reunion for the two, who have previously worked together in films like Vaastav: The Reality (1999), a cult classic. As per reports by Bollywood Hungama, 'Mahesh Manjrekar directed Juna Furniture, and he played the main lead. The film got a lot of critical acclaim for its message, subject, and performances. Mahesh realized that it has the potential to touch the Hindi-speaking audiences as well. Hence, he has begun work on the scripting of the Hindi remake." The source also claimed, 'He has approached Sanjay Dutt as he feels that the veteran actor will do complete justice to the role. Both Mahesh Manjrekar and Sanjay Dutt are fond of each other. They have had a great time working with each other and it's been a while since they collaborated on a project. This was also a reason why the filmmaker was keen on getting the actor on board. However, Sanjay Dutt is yet to reply to Mr Manjrekar on whether he'll be able to act in the remake." Sanjay Dutt's Work Front The actor will be next seen in the upcoming action thriller, Baaghi 4, co-starring Tiger Shroff, Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu. Helmed by A Harsha and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is slated to hit the big screens on September 5. It will face a big box office clash with Vivek Agnihotri's upcoming film, The Bengal Files. Besides this, Sanjay also has Prabhas' The Raja Saab, Dhruva Sarja's pan-India project KD: The Devil and Director Aditya Dhar's much anticipated Dhurandhar with Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna in his kitty. Dhurandhar Release Date and Box Office Clash Despite the disruption, Dhurandhar is still slated to release on December 5, 2025. The teaser, unveiled on Ranveer Singh's birthday, already generated buzz with its scale and ensemble cast. However, the film won't enjoy a solo release. It faces stiff competition from Vishal Bhardwaj's untitled project with Shahid Kapoor, releasing on the same day. Adding to the clash, Prabhas' The Raja Saab is scheduled to hit screens a day later on December 6, 2025, though speculation suggests it may be postponed.
