‘What's the big deal? Sky won't fall': Karnataka Minister on Gruhalakshmi payment delays
Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Monday shrugged off concerns about delays in the payment of benefits under the Gruhalakshmi guarantee scheme, calling the situation 'no big deal.' According to India Today report, he said, 'What's the big deal? What happens if money is given once every two or three months? The sky won't fall.' Jarkiholi explained that delays in government payments of a month or two are normal and assured that the money would be credited in lump sums when accumulated. He added that the government has a system where payments are clubbed together before being disbursed to beneficiaries, the report added. 'Even if it's late, we will complete the payments. There's no doubt about that,' he said. His comments come weeks after Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also indicated that monthly payments under the scheme may not always be guaranteed. We came to power, and we decided to repay their debt through five guarantee schemes. Our government has delivered as promised." Minister Jarkiholi issues stern warning to officials failing in performing duties
Belagavi: District minister Satish Jarkiholi issued a strong warning to govt officials in Belagavi, stating that those who fail to understand and carry out their responsibilities will not be tolerated. Speaking to the media here on Monday, Jarkiholi said, "We cannot be held accountable for the failures of officials. Law & order situation in the city has deteriorated. As a result, city police commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang was transferred," clarifying the reason behind the sudden transfer of the police commissioner. Stating that 'many incidents could be avoided if the officials took timely preventive measures,' minister Jarkiholi indirectly mentioned the failure of the city police in handling the case of burning Quran and Hadith copies in Santibastwad village, on the outskirts of the city, three weeks ago. "Police must act responsibly. The commissioner's transfer serves as a clear message to all departmental officials," he said. Regarding development issues, the minister said: "We are willing to cooperate with officials, but not every task can be directed by the CM or me. Officials who neglect development responsibilities or fail to maintain law & order have no place in this district." Responding to criticism from the opposition regarding delays in disbursing funds under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme, the minister clarified that funds have, at times, been credited twice in a month. "It's unreasonable to demand that the money be credited specifically on the 30th of each month. The govt has implemented guarantee schemes and allocated the necessary funds," he stated. Jarkiholi also raised concerns over the allocation of water from Hidkal dam to industries in Hubballi–Dharwad, saying it was done without his knowledge. "Previously, we halted the project. However, the Water Resources Department resumed work, and a tender was issued. About 2.5 tmcft of water has been earmarked for industrial use. Before such allocations are made, the CM and deputy CM must consult us. As more industries are expected to arrive in the Belagavi district, we will need adequate water to support them," he argued. Addressing recent remarks by actor Kamal Haasan about the Kannada language, Jarkiholi condemned them. "Kannada is an ancient language with a history spanning thousands of years. While we are unclear about the context in which the statement was made, he must apologise to the people of Karnataka," the minister asserted.

The decision was taken in Bengaluru,' he said he would write to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar urging that suggestions of local people should be considered in future water allocations. 'More industries are expected to come up in the district, and we too require water to meet their needs,' Jarkiholi added.

Minister to write to CM urging him to protect the interests of Belagavi
District in-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi will request Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to protect the interest of Belagavi district with regard to the issue of water diversion from Hidkal dam to Dharwad industrial area. He told reporters that three departments have already allowed water diversion. Work is under way by KIADB in Dharwad. About 110 km away. They are carrying water to the Dharwad industrial area through a pipeline. 'However, there is no clarity on the amount of water being diverted. I will hold a meeting with officials concerned and write a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging him to protect the interests of Belagavi,' the Minister said. Responding to actor Kamal Haasan's statement about the origin of Kannada language, the Minister said that it is highly condemnable. 'Kannada language has a history of thousands of years. The actor does not know it. He should first apologize to Kannadigas,' Mr. Jarkiholi said.
