QFFD explores support to Lebanon humanitarian, development efforts
QNA Beirut A delegation from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) held meetings with government officials and ministers of Lebanon to discuss development priorities and ways to enhance coordination as part of Qatar's firm commitment to supporting humanitarian and development efforts. The high-level meetings took place during an official visit led by Director-General of QFFD Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, alongside Ambassador of Qatar to Lebanon HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The visit included meetings with senior representatives from the Ministries of Energy, Public Health, and Social Affairs. This visit reaffirmed QFFD's enduring commitment to supporting the brotherly people of Lebanon and its dedication to enhancing cooperation with national and international partners to ensure the provision of effective and sustainable humanitarian and development services. It reflects Qatar's mission to foster humanitarian cooperation and promote sustainable global development for prosperity and stability. The delegation met with officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in line with efforts to support regional stability and address the needs of displaced populations. The meeting was followed by a field visit to the Masnaa border crossing on the Lebanese side, with the aim of enhancing coordination for the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of Syrian refugees, and reviewing the operational procedures in place. The delegation also reviewed the progress of the Emergency Response Project implemented by QFFD in partnership with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), which aims to provide vital support to host communities, internally displaced persons, and Syrian refugees across Beirut, Nabatieh, South Lebanon, Beqaa, and Baalbek-Hermel. By distributing 10,400 food baskets and 10,400 hygiene kits, the project seeks to alleviate the burden on overstretched local services and enhance the health and living conditions of more than 10,000 vulnerable individuals. The visit also included a field tour of Karantina Governmental Hospital to review the ongoing reconstruction efforts supported by QFFD to rehabilitate key sections of the hospital and assess wider needs within the healthcare sector. The visit underscored the importance of sustaining essential medical services for the local population.

EAA, AUB celebrate completionof Qatar Scholarship Programme
Tribune News Network Beirut, Lebanon The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, a global foundation for education and development, with the support of its strategic partner Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), and in partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB), celebrated the successful completion of the Qatar Scholarship Programme in Lebanon, culminating in the graduation of 93 students. This final ceremony marked the closing of a transformative initiative that has achieved its mission of empowering marginalised youth through access to high-quality higher education. The graduation ceremony was held in the presence of Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Lebanon HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, along with senior representatives from Education Above All Foundation, and the American University of Beirut. With the graduation of this final cohort, the programme concludes having met its targets and delivered lasting impact. Launched in 2021, the Qatar Scholarship, in partnership with EAA/AUB, aims to provide 316 exceptional students from vulnerable communities in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria with undergraduate degrees at one of the region's most prestigious institutions. The graduating students represent a diverse cohort of ambitious youth who have overcome significant socioeconomic and political challenges to pursue their academic and personal aspirations. Their achievements reflect the core values of EAA Foundation's Al Fakhoora programme, resilience, excellence, and the transformative power of education. 'The Qatar Scholarship Programme was more than an academic pathway — it was a lifeline, and a platform for youth to reclaim their futures,' said Mohammed Al Kubaisi, acting CEO of Education Above All Foundation. 'We are deeply proud of every graduate, andwethank our strategic partner, the Qatar Fund for Development, and all our partners forensuring that education continues to serve as a pillar of dignity, hope, and sustainable development.' QRCS, Lebanon's social affairs ministry launch ‘Road to Stability' drive phase 2
Tribune News Network Doha With funding from Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, phase 2 of the 'Road to Stability'—an initiative aimed at supporting the poorest Lebanese families affected by the recent war on Lebanon—has been launched. The overall purpose of the project is to enhance the financial stability of the most vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian families in Lebanon. Earlier, phase 1 had been completed for the benefit of Syrian refugee families in Lebanon, in collaboration with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This newly launched phase, which focuses on the affected Lebanese families, is funded by QFFD and implemented in partnership with Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs. Based on regular assessments and surveys conducted by the ministry to identify the most affected people, 3,325 Lebanese families were selected to receive monthly cash aid for three months. It is another episode of the constructive collaboration between QRCS and Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs as part of the country's social safety net programmes, designed to empower the families most in need and enhance their resilience. The launch of phase 2 was held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon. During the ceremony, the participants expressed their hope that this cooperation would serve as an effective model for unified humanitarian efforts, thanks to the generous support from QFFD and close coordination among Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, QRCS, and other humanitarian partners in Lebanon. In his keynote speech on behalf of QFFD, HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said, 'This project comes at a time when Lebanon is experiencing critical circumstances, which entails lending a hand for the country to come through the recent crises and wars. The project's name indicates the importance of stability sought by all the Lebanese people, as well as Qatar's keenness to preserve it with unlimited support, for Lebanon to further pursue progress and recovery.' Hanin Al-Sayed, Lebanon's Minister of Social Affairs, stated, 'I would like to express my deep appreciation to QRCS, which has always been committed to professional and dignity-respecting humanitarianism. We owe a debt of gratitude to QFFD and the government and people of Qatar for this significant contribution, which is a testimony to the humanitarian, social, economic, and developmental ties between our two nations'. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Beshri, assistant secretary-general for communication and fundraising at QRCS, commented, 'This project is not just a technical intervention or financial support.
