The Rockies Gerald Fox Memorial Race saw 7 000 participants

Seven thousand runners and walkers filled the streets of Parkview on the morning of July 13 for the annual Rockies Gerald Fox Memorial Race. The race, which began outside the Johannesburg Zoo, saw runners and walkers complete the 5, 10 and 21.1km. The director of the Rockies Gerald Fox Memorial Race, Saul Levin, said the annual race was in honour of their member who was brutally killed. 'We are 50 years old this year and have probably hosted the race for 40-odd years. The race is about having fun and allowing runners to enjoy and run through hills and their neighbourhood hills. 'We started in Orlando, Soweto, and today we are at the Zoo Lake in partnership with the Rockies Road Runners Club. The turnout was great, approximately 2 000 participants were part of Vitality. Kuzwayo concluded that he looked forward to the next three running events, which will be in Randburg, and at Old Edwardians Society and the DP World Wanderers Stadium.
