Wasps attack school's I-Day march, 30 hurt
Sabang: Chaos erupted during the Independence Day procession at Balpai Pashupati Surendra Vidyapith High School in Sabang when a swarm of wasps attacked several students and teachers, leaving many injured.
Thirty students and teachers were injured in the incident on Friday. Chief health officer Saumyasankar Sarangi said that seven, including a seriously injured teacher, were admitted to Sabang Rural Hospital, while two were referred to Midnapore Medical College Hospital. Most returned home after initial treatment.
The incident occurred while the procession was passing a banyan tree. Agitated by the noise of cymbals, the wasps suddenly attacked the group.

State water resources minister Manas Ranjan Bhunia, Sabang police officer Chanchal Singha and block development officer Manik Kumar Singha Mahapatra met the patients at the hospital.
