Ex-Broncos offensive coordinator makes interesting career change
Rich Scangarello is making an interesting career change.
The former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator has joined LIFT Sports, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Thursday. The 53-year-old coach will have a role "mentoring quarterbacks, leading film study sessions and providing coaching support," according to Pelissero.
Scangarello was Denver's offensive coordinator in 2019. Then-rookie quarterback Drew Lock went 4-1 as a starter that year, but then-head coach Vic Fangio fired Scangarello following offseason.
Scangarello went on to have stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers before a stop at the college level, coaching Kentucky's offense and quarterbacks. After a year out of coaching, he served as QBs coach for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024. He has worked with QB prospects leading up to the last two drafts, including Caleb Williams last year.
It sounds like Scangarello will continue working with QBs, but he'll now be employed by an agency.
