Schools win pool matches of cricket tournament
Kanpur: BNSD Inter College defeated Scholar Mission School by 9 wickets in a pool league match of first late Atmaram Agarwal Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament being played here at TSH Ground on Wednesday. KDMA International, DPS Azad Nagar and SR Jaipuria Schools also posted victories over their rival school teams. Scholar Mission School collapsed at 59 runs in 15.4 overs. BNSD, in reply, scored 63 runs for loss of just one wicket in 7.1 overs. KDMA International outplayed Pratap International School by 74 runs. KDMA, after being invited to bat first, posted a total of 134 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Pratap International School team, in reply, collapsed at 60 runs in 11.3 overs. In third match of day, DPS Azad Nagar drubbed Dr VSEC Awadhpuri by 120 runs. DPS, posted 203 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. Cricket tournament starts today
Kanpur: SAR Jaipuria School will face Scholar Mission School in the inaugural match of the Late Atmaram Agarwal Memorial Inter-School cricket tournament under floodlights at The Sports Hub on Tuesday. A total of 16 schools are participating in the tournament, with the winning school set to receive prize money of Rs 1.11 lakhs. The total prize money for the tournament is around Rs 1.72 lakhs. Each match will consist of 20 overs per innings. Apart from the opening and final days, three matches will be played daily at the TSH ground. District and divisional level selection trials for the judo team (boys and girls) will be held at Green Park Stadium on August 19 and 20. The selected divisional level teams will participate in the state level junior boys and girls competition at Saharanpur from August 28 to 30. According to regional ssports officer of the Kanpur division, Bhanu Prasad interested players should bring their birth certificates and Aadhar Cards at the time of the trials.
