Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors We found out in May that newcomer Dominic McLaughlin would be playing the new Harry Potter for HBO's upcoming reboot series, and now we have our first look at McLaughlin as the iconic character. You can see McLaughlin as the Boy Who Lived below. First look at Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter in the new 'HARRY POTTER' series. Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson is playing Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey will play Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser will play Garrick Ollivander. Back when McLaughlin was revealed as the new Harry Potter back in May, he wasn't alone. Also announced were the other two members of the series' famous trio: Arabella Stanton was cast as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout takes on the role of Ron Weasley. At the time, "Harry Potter" showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod released an official press statement which said, "After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron." "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there." McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout were reportedly cast only after over 32,000 auditions. In the films Harry, Hermione, and Ron were played respectively by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. The three newcomers join an impressive cast for the upcoming reboot series, including Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Just as most of the movies covered the events of a single "Harry Potter" book, most individual seasons of the new "Harry Potter" TV series are meant to cover the events of a single novel of creator J.K. Rowling's. The first season will focus on the events of Rowling's first "Harry Potter" novel, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." 'Scrubs' reboot is coming — here's where you can stream all 9 seasons

After years of rumors, teases and cast reunions, 'Scrubs' is finally getting a full-blown revival. ABC has officially ordered a new season of the zany medical comedy, bringing back original stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley, and Neil Flynn. Series creator Bill Lawrence will also return as executive producer alongside 'Ted Lasso' alum Brett Goldstein, so if you've been waiting for the "real thing" ever since the credits rolled on the final season, this is it. The reboot is being described as a 'continuation' rather than a total reset, picking up years after the original's finale and revisiting Sacred Heart with some familiar faces as well as plenty of new interns. Production is expected to begin in early 2026. But if you want to revisit the highs (and occasional heartbreaks) of the original series before the reboot lands, here's where you can stream all nine seasons of "Scrubs" right now. If you're planning to catch up on 'Scrubs' before the new series drops, you've got a few easy options. All nine seasons are currently streaming on Hulu, so you can jump straight back into Sacred Heart and follow J.D., Turk, and the rest of the gang from the very beginning. It's all there: the laughs, the heartbreak, the daydreams, and the bromance that defined the show. You can also stream the full series on Peacock, so whether you're a longtime fan or just curious what all the fuss was about, you've got choices. However you watch, now's the perfect time to revisit the show or watch it for the very first time. That way you'll be prepped and ready by the time the reboot finally airs on ABC. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The new 'Scrubs' series picks up years after the original finale, reuniting J.D. (Braff) and Turk (Faison) as they scrub in together once again at Sacred Heart. A lot has changed since we last saw everyone. Medicine looks different, the new crop of interns is about bringing some new energy, and the hospital itself isn't quite what it used to be. But the heart of the show remains the same. According to the official synopsis, while the world around them has evolved, J.D. and Turk's bromance has "stood the test of time." Series creator Bill Lawrence told The Independent last summer that talks of a reboot had been ongoing behind the scenes, even as the cast remained busy with other projects, for a while. "We all spend time with each other in real life,' he said, 'but everybody is so talented from that show that they're all working." That real-life closeness seems to have made its way into the new series, which isn't about rewriting the past, but continuing it and acknowledging how the characters (and the audience) have grown, while still delivering the same kind of comedy and occasional emotional moments that had people hooked in the first place. There's not a lot more that we know just yet about the story itself, but that should unfold over time.

‘Scrubs' reboot with original stars airing on ABC this year

'Scrubs' will be back in action, as are its three stars, later this year, more than 15 years after the hit medical comedy took its final bow. A reboot of the NBC-turned-ABC sitcom has gotten a straight-to-series order at the latter, where it will air for the 2025 to 2026 season, Variety reports. In addition to Zach Braff, whose planned return as J.D. was reported in late May, original stars Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke will also be back. They starred in the original Emmy winner as Turk and Elliot, respectively. 'After years apart, best friends J.D. and Turk reunite at Sacred Heart hospital, where they face modern medical challenges alongside fresh faces while keeping their legendary friendship alive,' reads the logline on the untitled series' IMDb page. 'Scrubs' creator Bill Lawrence also created the reboot, which he will co-executive produce. ''Scrubs' means so very much to me,' Lawrence told Variety. 'So excited for the chance to get the band back together.' Variety reported in December that the new iteration was in early development at Disney-owned ABC. 'Scrubs' debuted in 2001 on NBC, where it aired for seven seasons before moving to ABC for its final two.

'Scrubs' Reboot Confirmed at ABC

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The silliness of Sacred Heart is about to return. The "Scrubs" reboot was reported to be in development last year with Zach Braff returning as Sacred heart doctor J.D., but now Variety reports that the sitcom has been ordered straight-to-series by ABC for the 2025-2026 season. The site also reports that Braff won't be alone when it comes to former cast. Donald Faison will also be returning as Dr. Christopher Turk and Sarah Chalke will be back as Dr. Elliot Reid. Read More: 'Dexter: Resurrection' Early Reviews Are Overwhelmingly One-Sided Variety says more former castmates are expected to return for the reboot, with no mention of exactly who else might be scrubbing in. NBC/Getty Images Cast from the original series who could return include John C. McGinley who played the acerbic Dr. Cox, Neil Flynn of "The Middle" fame who played a janitor known for terrorizing J.D., and Judy Reyes as Nurse Carla. The official logline for the "Scrubs" revival reads, "JD (Braff) & Turk (Faison) scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way." Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, both of whom worked on the original series, will serve as executive producers and showrunners for the new show. "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence will executive produce along with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Braff, Chalk, and Faison are also serving as executive producers. "Scrubs" originally aired on NBC for its first seven seasons before jumping to ABC for its final two. Overall, the sitcom ran from 2001 to 2009, earning itself 2 Primetime Emmys in the process. While promoting the AppleTV+ series "Shrinking" back in 2023, Lawrence told Variety that a "Scrubs" reunion was "inevitable," though at the time he was speaking specifically of a reunion movie rather than a series. "In the greatest way, the cast of that show and the writers are so good that they're all working. And the main reason to do something like that isn't the work, it's because we actually love hanging out," Lawrence said. He continued, "I think it's inevitable that [a 'Scrubs' movie] happens. The joke of it with us is the first time that six months go by that we don't hang out, we'll end up doing a 'Scrubs' reunion."
