Texas basketball announces 2025-26 non-conference schedule
The non-conference schedule is set for the first season of the Sean Miller era of Texas Longhorns basketball, highlighted by eight home games at the Moody Center, including an ACC/SEC Challenge game against Virginia, a three-game trip to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational, and a road trip to Storrs to face UConn. The season opener in the Dick Vitale Invitational against Duke at Charlotte's Spectrum Center is on Nov. 4, marking the sixth matchup between the Longhorns and the Blue Devils and the first since an overtime game at the PK80 Championship in Portland, Ore. in 2017. Texas makes it 2025 Moody Center debut as part of a four-game home stand that includes the first-ever matchups against Lafayette, Kansas City, and Rider, sandwiched around the second meeting between Texas and Farleigh Dickinson, which also faced off against the Horns at Gregory Gym in 1975. From Nov. 24-26, the Longhorns will play three games in the Maui Invitational as part of an eight-team field that also includes Arizona State, Boise State, host Chaminade, NC State, Seton Hall, USC, and Washington State with pairings for the event to be announced. Two games back at the Moody Center in early December include the first meeting with Virginia and the second meeting with Southern before traveling to face UConn at the XL Center trying to cut into an 8-3 edge for the Huskies in the all-time series against the Longhorns that includes wins over Texas in each of the last two seasons. Pre-Christmas home games against LeMoyne and Maryland Eastern Shore close out the non-conference schedule before facing SEC opponents from Jan. 3 to March 7. Texas Longhorns to play in the Maui Invitational where a stacked lineup awaits
Longhorns opponents for Southwest Maui Invitational 2025 Tournament revealed After weeks of waiting, the bracket for the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational was released on Tuesday. The tournament, which will feature the Texas Longhorns, will be played at the Lahaina Civic Center on Nov. 24-26, 2025. As the Longhorns prepare for their first season under Sean Miller, they now know who they will be facing. In the quarterfinals on Nov. 24, Texas will face Arizona State at 10 pm. They are then set to take on either Washington State or Chaminade on Nov. 25. The tournament will wrap a day later, with the Longhorns hoping to make an appearance in the finals. Their competition will include Boise State, NC State, Seton Hall, and USC. Over the last few years, Texas has become a familiar participant in this tournament. They also competed in the Maui Invitational in 1993, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2020. The Longhorns currently own a 10-5 record in the tourney, including one championship in 2020. For Miller and his staff, the goal is to leave Hawaii with another title. Entering this tournament, Texas holds a 4-1 all-time record against its first opponent, Arizona State. Their last matchup came in 20224 when the Longhorns emerged with an 87-85 victory on a Cameron Ridley put-back at the buzzer. The Longhorns have also never lost to the Sun Devils at a neutral site. Although the Longhorns' focus is on winning a national title, this tournament should be a good test earlier on. It will also be a good chance for the Longhorns to build on their team chemistry. There are many new faces after a 2024-2025 campaign that did not meet expectations. If Miller and his team can take care of business, then the Longhorns will have a reason to celebrate early on before entering one of the most challenging stretches of their schedule.

On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team unveiled its non-conference schedule. The Longhorns' regular season is full of marquee matchups that fans will not want to miss. Texas will open its season on November 4th in the Dick Vitale Invitational against Duke at Charlotte's Spectrum Center. It will mark the first meeting between the two historic programs in eight years. Four days later, the Longhorns will begin a four-game homestand. During that stretch, Lafayette, Fairleigh Dickinson, Kansas City, and Rider will make the trip to Austin. The Nov 18 matchup against Rider will be the Longhorns' first-ever game against the Broncos. Starting on Nov.24, Texas will hit the road for the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center. Although pairings have not been announced, it will be a good early-season test. The other programs participating in the three-day tournament are Arizona State, Boise State, Chaminade, NC State, Seton Hall, USC, and Washington State. Following the Maui Invitational, Texas will return to the Moody Center for the ACC/SEC Challenge. They will take on Virginia on December 3rd. Five days later, they will welcome Southern to town. The Longhorns have only faced the Jaguars once in program history and emerged with a win. After that brief two-home stand, Texas will go on a tour of the East Coast. That will include a highly anticipated match against UConn on December 12th. They will also face Le Moyne and Maryland Eastern Shore during that trip. That will mark the first matchups in men's basketball against both the Dolphins and the Hawks. While fans still have to wait a few months to see Sean Miller and the reshaped roster in action, they can finally start deciding which games to attend to show their support.

Top 15 2026 basketball recruit lists Longhorns in his Top 6
As Longhorns basketball looks to add to its 2026 class, it had a reason to celebrate on Monday. One of the top recruits still on the board, Qayden Samuels, narrowed his list down to six programs, and the Longhorns made the cut. Their next goal will be to get Samuels to campus for a visit, showing him what a future at Texas could look like. While the Longhorns would love to secure a commitment from the talented small forward, they will face competition. The other programs still in the running are Kentucky, UConn, North Carolina, NC State, and Georgetown. All of those programs have had success over the last few years, including UConn, who has rewritten the record books. Currently, the Bishop McNamara High School product is ranked as the fifth-best small forward in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the best player from the state of Maryland. Over the last few months, Samuels has seen his stock rise as he has been a force with the ball in his hands. Since becoming the Longhorns' head coach, Sean Miller has focused on reshaping his roster. That has included building relationships with players in the 2026 class and beyond. If Miller can land Samuels, the Longhorns would be adding a talented scorer to the mix. Although the Longhorns are still searching for their first commitment in the 2026 class, they have been connected to some of the top players available. They have made offers to Dylan Mingo, Taylen Kinney, Deron Rippey Jr., Bo Ogden, and Junior County. Any of those players would represent a significant offensive upgrade for a team that struggled to score last year. With the recruiting season far from over, the Longhorns will be a program to watch. Texas has numerous offers pending and hopes to add Samuels' commitment to the list.
