Pittsford surprises state ranked Canandaigua
Grant Lewis scored four times to lead Pittsford past a Canandaigua by a score of 11-10 in the rain Wednesday night at Sutherland. The Grey Wolves came into the game ranked number two in New York State at Class B. This was also the first time a Section Five team beat Canandaigua all season. Lewis scored with three seconds left in the first quarter to put Pittsford ahead 4-3. They led the rest of the way. Canandaigua had possession with a chance to tie only once in the fourth quarter. Charlie Ryan and Avery Valenti each added a pair of goals for the Panthers. Canandaigua was led by Patrick Olvany's hat trick. Mike Belles and Ryan Bremer each also scored twice. Pittsford has won their last three and upped their record to 12-3. The Grey Wolves suffered their second consecutive loss after opening the season 14-0. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Eastridge/BK's Krupa tops Section Five Best
Ada Krupa is a record breaking finisher and a record breaking starter. The Eastridge/BK senior broke the program record for goals last week after scoring four in a dominating win last Wednesday. Krupa currently has 208 after adding 12 more in the last three Lancer contests. She also snagged 32 draw controls in the last four games, three of which were wins. Krupa has 560 of those for her career and that is the most in Section Five history (with the caveat the stat has only been tracked for the last ten seasons). More than worthy enough to top the Section Five Best for May 13th, but that wasn't all. Spencerport's Jayda Solomon won the 100 meters in the Monroe County meet and followed with wins in the 100 and 200 at the Flower City Invitational. She currently has the best Section Five time this season in both events. Speaking of a top time, Penfield's Micah Davis put up the fastest mark in the 400 last week with a finish of 49.45 seconds. That run earned him a dual meet win and he followed with three impressive finishes at a state wide meet in Albany: 1st in the 200, 2nd in the 100 and 5th in the long jump. On the diamond, Geneseo's Adelyn McDonald pitched four complete games last week and allowed only four runs with a whopping 63 strikeouts. She added a 3-4 day with four RBIs on Monday in a 3-1 week for the Blue Devils. Anna Forman led Athena flag football to three wins with 482 yards passing and five touchdowns. That included the only score in a 7-0 win over Spencerport. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

World of Inquiry's Dillon Tops Section Five Best
Devin Dillon was only called up to the World of Inquiry varsity basketball team in January. The eighth grader has turned into a big time addition. He poured in 21 points in the state qualifier last week, including six three pointers. Dillion then followed with 15 more in the state quarterfinals powering the Griffins to a state final four berth and earning the top spot in this week's Section Five Best. Section Five's boys composite bowling team also makes the list this week after winning a state championship over the weekend. Dallis Jones set a new Aquinas school record with a 7.7 second 60 meter dash competing in the New Balance national championship. Ne'Sean Fowlks was Mr. Clutch for Athena with a game tying three in the Class AA state qualifier and then blocking a half court heave to preserve a one point state quarters victory. Jordyn Dyring scored 59 points over two games that sent Hornell to Albany for a state semifinal date this weekend. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Midlakes' Bryant is Player of the Week
The Player of the Week for March 3rd is a junior who's been one of the area's elite track and field athletes for quite a while. Aiden Bryant of Midlakes had himself a day at the state qualifier. He set a new Section Five record in the triple jump by soaring 50 feet, 8.5 inches. He shattered the old record that stood since 2006 by over seven inches. He also won the long jump and the finished second in the 55 meter dash… Unlike sectional finals, the state qualifier does not have classes. The Midlakes junior had to face the best from even the biggest schools in Section Five. He still came away with enough wins to be our Player of the Week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
