Eastridge/BK's Krupa tops Section Five Best
Ada Krupa is a record breaking finisher and a record breaking starter.
The Eastridge/BK senior broke the program record for goals last week after scoring four in a dominating win last Wednesday. Krupa currently has 208 after adding 12 more in the last three Lancer contests.
She also snagged 32 draw controls in the last four games, three of which were wins. Krupa has 560 of those for her career and that is the most in Section Five history (with the caveat the stat has only been tracked for the last ten seasons).
More than worthy enough to top the Section Five Best for May 13th, but that wasn't all.
Spencerport's Jayda Solomon won the 100 meters in the Monroe County meet and followed with wins in the 100 and 200 at the Flower City Invitational. She currently has the best Section Five time this season in both events. Speaking of a top time, Penfield's Micah Davis put up the fastest mark in the 400 last week with a finish of 49.45 seconds. That run earned him a dual meet win and he followed with three impressive finishes at a state wide meet in Albany: 1st in the 200, 2nd in the 100 and 5th in the long jump.
On the diamond, Geneseo's Adelyn McDonald pitched four complete games last week and allowed only four runs with a whopping 63 strikeouts. She added a 3-4 day with four RBIs on Monday in a 3-1 week for the Blue Devils.
Anna Forman led Athena flag football to three wins with 482 yards passing and five touchdowns. That included the only score in a 7-0 win over Spencerport.

Pittsford Mendon captures first Sectional Title in 24 years
Class A Final: (1) Pittsford Mendon 7, (7) Eastridge 1 For the first time since 2001, the Pittsford Mendon Vikings are Sectional champions, thanks in large part to the tournament MVP, Cameron Barbulean, as the senior pitcher let up only one run. With an early 1-0 lead, the Vikings pulled even further away in the second, off a Colden Forney two-RBI double, before Barbulean brought in one of his own, making it a 4-0 ballgame. Eastridge would cut the lead down to three, with an Evan Bishop RBI single in the top of the third. Defense reigned supreme until the bottom of the sixth, when another Forney RBI, a passed ball, and a Josiah Martin RBI would extend the lead to six, and give the Vikings the 7-1 victory. Mendon will move on to face Section VI Class A champion Amherst Central in the state quarterfinals. That game will be played at Innovative Field this Friday at 4 p.m. Eastridge finishes their season at 14-10. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Penfield's Emling tops Section Five Best
Patrick Emling had himself a week. So did his Penfield baseball team. The Patriots senior had a run and an RBI–all the offense in a 2-0 win–that helped Penfield to a round one sectional win on Thursday. He scored the winning run in Penfield's extra inning stunner against top seeded Athena Friday. Finally, Emling went 3-3 with two RBIs and twirled a complete game with seven strikeouts as Penfield won for their third playoff game in three days. By the way, the Patriots are the 16(!) seed in the Class AA playoffs and now sit two wins short of an all-time Cinderella story. That's not all the greatness for this week's edition of Section Five Best. Cal-Mum's Emma Brogan won the high jump and triple jump at the Livingston County meet last week. She added a runner-up in the 100 meters. It all was good enough to earn Brogan LCAA Female Track Athlete of the Year honors. In lacrosse, Connor Moore had an eight goal explosion for Irondequoit last Wednesday. He followed with four goals and three assists over the weekend as the Eagles won both games. Kiera Gioseffi closed her regular season with a pair of five goal games helping Canandaigua head into the playoffs hot. Aimee Turner keeps getting her name called this spring. The Arcadia quarterback marched the titles into the flag football finals with a three touchdown performance in the semis that featured 250 total yards, including 179 on the ground.
