After fake fertility centre busted in Hyderabad, its branch raided in Vijayawada

Within hours of the Hyderabad police busting the illegal baby selling and fake surrogacy racket in a Secunderabad-based fertility centre, the police and medical department officials of Andhra Pradesh raided its branch at Vijayawada on Monday only to find it closed and doctors absconding, officials said. After fake fertility centre busted in Hyderabad, its branch raided in Vijayawada NTR district medical and health officer M Suhasini, along with a team of officials and doctors inspected the Universal Srushti Fertility and Research Centre, located near Benz Circle in Vijayawada. This fertility centre is a branch of the main facility located Secunderabad headed by Dr Athaluri Namratha who has since been arrested. It is being managed by Dr V Karuna. 'The Vijayawada centre was operating till Sunday, but this morning, it was found locked and none of the doctors, including Dr Karuna and her associate Dr Vaishali was available there,' Suhasini told reporters, adding both the doctors had gone absconding since the Hyderabad illegal child sale racket was busted. The team, however, called the office staff and verified the registration details and other records. 'During inquiry, it was found that the management of the centre obtained permission from the government for running a health care centre under the name 'Universal Health Care Services', but was running the fertility centre,' Suhasini said. She said the centre does not currently have valid operational permission. The centre's licence expired in 2023 and was initially valid only from 2018 to 2023. The team, which was accompanied by Vijayawada central zone assistant commissioner of police K Damodar and Machavaram police inspector Ch Prakash, also noticed that Dr Karuna not only got the fertility centre closed, but also hospital board removed. 'Even the cars and ambulance were taken away,' the inspector said. 'So far, we have not received any formal complaint from anyone with regard to illegal surrogacy or child trafficking in this branch. We are, however, inquiring on the activities of the fertility centre,' Prakash said. According to Hyderabad (north zone) deputy commissioner of police S Rashmi Perumal, Dr Namrata, a resident of Vijayawada, had started a fertility centre in 1998 in Secunderabad and later expanded to locations such as Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kondapur, Kolkata, and Odisha. She reportedly charged ₹30–40 lakh from each couple seeking children and, instead of genuine surrogacy procedures, purchased babies through brokers and handed them over as surrogate births. Namratha, along with associates and agents targeted vulnerable women particularly those seeking abortions and lured them into continuing pregnancies in exchange for money. These newborns were then passed off as children conceived through surrogacy, misleading clients into believing the babies were biologically theirs. She said more than 10 cases have been registered previously so far at Maharanipeta PS, II Town PS (Visakhapatnam), Gopalapuram PS (Hyderabad), and Kothapeta PS (Guntur). Hyderabad district medical and health officer Dr J Venkati said the medical and health department had cancelled the registration of the involved fertility clinic in 2021 itself but the accused continued to operate the place from the building and putting the name of another certified doctor Dr. Suri Shrimati on the official letter pads of the clinic. Meanwhile, Telangana health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said in a statement that instructions had been issued to the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against those responsible. 'We have also ordered intensified inspections of all fertility centres across the state,' he said.

Vishram Sadan to be built at Kurnool GGH

A new facility for the attendants of the patients admitted to the Government General Hospital, Kurnool, will be built soon. The building, 'Vishram Sadan', will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹14.15 crore and the entire cost is being borne by Secunderabad-based Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI). Minister for Health Satya Kumar Yadav has given approval for the construction of the Sadan after a detailed examination of the project, an official statement said. The 'Vishram Sadan' will have 150 beds for the attendants of in-patients and will have an office, recreation facilities, generator, solar rooftop, a pumphouse and overhead water tank. The PGCI will hand over the building to the GGH after its completion and the district collector will select an NGO for maintaining the building by charging a minimal fare from those who want to use the facility. Presently, the attendants of in-patients are taking shelter at three sheds in the GGH premises which are lacking basic facilities, security and sanitation. Minister Satya Kumar thanked the PGCI for coming forward to construct the Vishram Sadan under corporate social responsibility (CSR). Mr. Satya Kumar asked officials to prepare guidelines for operating the Sadan, the criteria for giving beds to the attendants, the fare to be collected and others. The Kurnool GGH has 1,700 beds for in-patients of which 150 have been allocated for cancer patients. An average of 90 % beds are filled with patients on a day, GGH Superintendent K. Venkateswarlu said and added the new facility will provide the much needed relief to the attendants.

The science behind how yoga aids in muscle recovery and flexibility

You just crushed a workout. Your muscles feel powerful, until tomorrow, when getting out of bed feels like an Olympic sport. While most of us reach for foam rollers or painkillers, there's a 3,000-year-old recovery tool hiding in plain sight: is a muscle repair powerhouse, and a personalised health coach, and science proves that it works better than you aids muscle recovery through a combination of physical, mental, and physiological mechanisms that work together to restore the body after exertion. One of the primary ways yoga helps is by improving blood circulation. According to Secunderabad-based physician Dr. Ramasree Yerramsetty, the gentle stretches and controlled poses encourage oxygen-rich blood to flow more efficiently to tired muscles, delivering essential nutrients and removing metabolic waste like lactic acid, which builds up during intense process reduces soreness and speeds up repair. Apart from this, yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the body's "rest and digest" mode, which counteracts the stress response triggered by vigorous workouts. By promoting relaxation, yoga lowers cortisol levels, a hormone linked to inflammation and delayed recovery, allowing muscles to heal key factor is yoga's emphasis on mindful breathing, or pranayama. Deep, rhythmic breaths increase oxygen intake, enhancing cellular repair and reducing muscle stiffness. This oxygenation also helps calm the mind, reducing perceived pain and discomfort, said Dr. the slow, deliberate movements in yoga improve flexibility and range of motion, which can prevent stiffness and imbalances that often follow intense training. Unlike high-impact exercises, yoga places minimal strain on joints and tissues, making it an ideal active recovery tool that keeps muscles engaged without causing further a deeper level, Dr. Yerramsetty said, "Yoga stimulates the release of endorphins - natural painkillers that elevate mood and reduce stress. This mental relaxation is just as crucial as physical recovery, as tension and anxiety can prolong muscle tightness."Furthermore, yoga's focus on body awareness helps practitioners identify areas of tension or overuse, allowing them to address imbalances before they lead to time, consistent yoga practice strengthens connective tissues, improves posture, and enhances overall muscle resilience, making the body more adaptable to physical combination of these effects - better circulation, reduced inflammation, mental calmness, and increased flexibility - makes yoga a powerful tool for muscle recovery. It bridges the gap between rest and activity, offering a balanced approach that nurtures both the body and used as a cooldown after a workout or as a standalone recovery practice, yoga supports long-term muscle health by fostering a slower, more intentional connection to movement."This holistic approach not only speeds up recovery but also prepares the body for future physical challenges, making it an essential practice for athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike," said Dr. Watch
