Selena Scores A Top 10 Hit As Fans Honor The Anniversary Of Her Passing

Selena scores a familiar top 10 hit on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart and holds at No. 1 on ... More Latin Pop Albums, as fans revisit her music 30 years after her death. American singer Selena (born Selena Quintanilla-Perez, 1971 - 1995) rides in a carriage during a performance at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo at the Houston Astrodome, Houston, Texas, February 26, 1995. The performance was her last before her murder the following month. (Photo by) Even three decades after her death, Selena Quintanilla remains one of the most celebrated Latin musicians in American history. The beloved singer continues to regularly find space on the Billboard charts, with some frames being bigger than others, and this week is especially meaningful for her music. As one of her most popular albums keeps climbing, several of her biggest hits return to one ranking at the same time – and she even manages to claim a top 10 smash. Selena Charts Two Hit Singles Two of Selena's biggest hits return to the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, the list that tracks the bestselling Latin songs in the U.S. based on digital purchases on platforms like iTunes and Amazon. The ranking, which highlights Spanish-language tracks, welcomes back a pair of her most beloved singles. "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" reappears at No. 10, bringing the late star back to the top 10 on a Billboard songs tally – not something just any artist can manage. Just a few spaces further down, "Como La Flor" returns at No. 13. The Latin Digital Song Sales chart now features just 15 positions, and this time around, only three tracks reenter the tally – and Selena claims two of them. Her two returning tunes easily outperform "Azul" by J Balvin, which settles at No. 15. That song only makes its second-ever appearance on the list, while Selena's cuts have been frequent visitors for years. Selena is also present on multiple albums-focused rosters in the U.S. Her project Ones continues to perform well on Billboard's Latin charts, as is almost always the case. The greatest hits compilation remains steady at No. 1 on the Top Latin Pop Albums ranking – a position that seems especially fitting for a set titled Ones. At the same time, the same collection rises on another, more competitive list. Ones jumps six spaces on the Top Latin Albums chart, the tally that tracks the most-consumed Latin projects in the U.S. Fans seem to be returning to Selena's music in greater numbers than usual at the moment for an easily identifiable, but very sad, reason. March 31 marked the thirtieth anniversary of her passing. The iconic singer was shot and killed in 1995, and this somber milestone was not missed by many of her most ardent supporters. Her murder was recently back in the news not just because of the anniversary, but also as her killer was recently denied parole.
