President Sisi heads to Equatorial Guinea
CAIRO, July 12 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday heads to Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea to participate in the Seventh Mid-Year Coordination Summit Meeting of the African Union. Spokesman for the Presidency Mohamed al-Shennawy said that president Sisi is participating in the coordination meeting, which is usually limited to a few African leaders. This participation comes in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the North African Regional Capability and its leadership of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). During the summit, the president will review Egypt's efforts to develop the work of the two mechanisms, which will strengthen peace, security, and their connection to development and stability goals in the African continent. President Sisi is expected to meet with a number of fellow African leaders to discuss the challenges facing the African continent and explore ways to bolster continental stability to fulfill the aspirations of African peoples for prosperity and development. President Sisi to participate in AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit Meeting on Sunday
MALABO, July 12 (MENA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will participate on Sunday in the opening session of the Seventh Mid-Year Coordination Summit Meeting of the African Union, due to be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. AU Protocol Director Yousif Elkordofani will receive President Sisi upon his arrival. Then the president will have a meeting with President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The opening session of the Malabo-hosted mid-year summit will begin with playing of the African Union anthem, followed by the national anthem of Equatorial Guinea, the host country of the meetings. Then, the president of Equatorial Guinea will deliver his speech, followed by speeches of Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, and President of Angola Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, who currently chairs the African Union. After the opening speeches, President Sisi, accompanied by the African leaders participating in the summit, will have a photo-opportunity. After the adoption of the agenda, Moses Vilakati, the Commissioner for the Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (ARBE) at the African Union Commission, will present a report. Then, the heads of regional economic groups and regional mechanisms will deliver their speeches. Afterwards, President Sisi will give two speeches in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the North African Regional Capability (NARC) and its leadership of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). The president will hold bilateral meetings with the African leaders participating in the meetings, including the presidents of Equatorial Guinea and Angola.
