Court grants bail to clerk in Shalarth scam
Nagpur: In a significant development in the education scam involving fake appointments and 580 forged Shallarth IDs, magistrate AK Bankar rejected the police custody remand (PCR) request for accused clerk Sumed Wakde and granted him bail forthwith.
Wakde, arrested by Sadar police on allegations of preparing a forged appointment order for co-accused Bhavna Raut, was represented by advocates Kamal Satuja, Kailash Dodani, Vijay Gupta, and Anmol Goswami.
The defence argued that Wakde's arrest was illegal, citing an unjustified eight-hour gap between his detention in Gondia and formal arrest in Nagpur, lack of written grounds for arrest, and delayed medical examination, violating Supreme Court guidelines. The court declared the arrest illegal, granting bail with conditions of bi-monthly reporting and cooperation with the investigation.
