Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par. It features a song by intern Shariva Parulkar, who gets her big break alongside Arijit Singh.
Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is the talk of the town for many reasons. Firstly, fans are elated to see their favourite star return to the big screen after a three-year hiatus. Secondly, the film has a nostalgic value as the spiritual sequel to the 2007 superhit Taare Zameen Par. Amid the growing excitement, the makers released the melodious song, Sar Aankhon Pe Mere. The track became a Cinderella moment for Shariva Parulkar, Aamir Khan's marketing intern, who sang alongside Arijit Singh as a female playback singer.
Originally, Sar Aankhon Pe Mere was recorded by Shariva Parulkar as a scratch version in Chennai, as no other singer was available at the time. Aamir and director RS Prasanna were so impressed by her rendition that they decided to keep her vocals for the final version. A girl who considered singing just a hobby has made an outstanding debut as a playback singer in an Aamir Khan film – the tale behind the song is even more beautiful.
In a dream-come-true moment, Shariva lent her voice to Sar Aankhon Pe Mere, and performed alongside Arijit Singh. Aamir Khan gave his intern, who also worked with him on Laal Singh Chaddha, an incredible break, marking a special beginning for a promising new voice. Watch the track's video here:
In Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan Productions proudly presents 10 rising stars: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Directed by RS Prasanna, who previously helmed the barrier-breaking superhit film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, returned for a major collaboration with Aamir Khan in Sitaare Zameen Par.
Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par features Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, alongside the 10 rising stars. The film's song lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and the music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The screenplay is crafted by Divy Nidhi Sharma. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with B Shrinivas Rao and Ravi Bhagchandka also serving as co-producers. Sitaare Zameen Par is set to release in theaters on June 20, 2025.
