Sharjah Sports provides extensive coverage for President's Cup
Coverage begins on Tuesday, May 6, and runs until Saturday, May 10. The channel has built up a large-scale outdoor studio at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, complete with professional cameras and equipment, to capture every element of the final, from team preparations to the grand finale, providing viewers with a comprehensive and polished viewing experience. "Our Stadiums" from Sharjah landmarks "Our Stadiums" leads the daily programming, which is broadcast from major tourist destinations in Sharjah, such as Al Layyah Canal and Kalba City. Haitham bin Saqr attends opening of 'Kalba Rowing Championship'
Championship overview Aisha Shahdad, General Supervisor of the championship, confirmed that many governmental and private institutions are participating in the event. Organised by the Eastern Kalba Channel in cooperation with Sharjah Sports Channel, the competition will last for three days with 50 boats representing various regions of the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Heritage village and cultural activities The opening ceremony featured a tour of the heritage village, which showcases various marine life elements like a fish market, grilling stations, salt cutting, and a popular café. The village sees broad participation from both governmental and private institutions. Promoting traditional marine sports The championship aims to promote traditional marine sports and preserve the region's heritage. Activities include workshops on marine crafts such as gargoor, shosh, and leikh, alongside a 'Barza' council for discussions on marine heritage. Heritage competitions and fishing contest In addition to the main rowing event, there are several heritage competitions, including tug of war, wrestling, burlap races, and the game of Meet. A fishing competition for Kalba fishermen is also held, with valuable prizes for the winners. "Al Sharqiya from Kalba Rowing Championship" kicks off January 31
Ismail Issa Al Hosani, Director of Al Sharqiya from Kalba Channel, announced the launch of Al Sharqiya from Kalba Rowing Championship competitions on January 31, for a period of 3 days. 50 boats and AED 570 thousand Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, on the sidelines of a press conference held on Monday at Kalba Waterfront, Al Hosani said that the championship, organised by the channel in cooperation with Sharjah Sports Channel and Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, is seeing the participation of about 50 boats, and its total prizes amount to 570 thousand dirhams. The conference was attended by His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and Chairman of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club; His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council (SSC); His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA); His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of Sharjah Government Media Bureau; His Excellency Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, Director General of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club; Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of SBA; Ismail Issa Al Hosani, Director of Al Sharqiya Channel from Kalba; Mohammed Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Sports Channel; representatives of the sponsoring companies and a large number of media representatives.
