Shayne O'Cass's Wellington, Wagga Tuesday tips: July 29, 2025

Form analyst Shayne O'Cass presents his best bets and inside mail for Wellington on Thursday, plus his tips for the Wagga meeting. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ WELLINGTON TIPS BEST BET Race 1 No.4 HANNAH'S BRIDGE: Has shown improvement from one run to the next; so close now. NEXT BEST Race 4 No.14 THE GIT UP: Placed at 10 of her 16 starts; this could be the day for breaking through. VALUE Race 7 No.8 PODCAST: Be right in the finish if she can bounce back to her pre-Highway form. QUADDIE Race 4: 3,5,6,14 Race 5: 1,4,5,11 Race 6: 5,6,10 Race 7: 8,13,14 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Two-times SA Jockeys Premiership winner Chad Lever has some good rides out west today. WELLINGTON INSIDE MAIL RACE 1: Maiden Plate (1400m) HANNAH'S BRIDGE (4) was bred by her trainer Derek Piper and is a half-sister to her handy stablemate named Cheap Gas. As a daughter of Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet, she should relish the 1400m for the first time on Tuesday. Her debut was good, her follow up was very good. Just has to handle the wet conditions. LOVE AIN'T FREE (1) handed in a PB last start when third at Dubbo. Drawn well. WINNING REIGN (12) is an 18-start maiden and the wet form is a worry but back to 1400m is a plus. BET: HANNAH'S BRIDGE (4) to win (best bet). RACE 2: Maiden Plate (900m) ANGIE'S SISTER (5) was $21 into $71 on debut in a 1000m Country Maiden on September 29 last year and ran a very cheeky race; she led and came in fourth of 14 at the finish behind a pretty handy winner in Taormina Sailor (see race 3 below). Market the guide again. MERE MORTAL (3) made his Michael Lynch-stable debut on July 15 at Warren, finishing second on the Heavy 8. Go well again. UFANA (9) is yet to win in 19 starts but hasn't run many bad races at all since Sharon Jeffries has had her. BET: ANGIE'S SISTER (5) to win, box First 4 Nos. 3,5,7,9,11. RACE 3: Benchmark 58 (900m) AORNINA SAILOR (7) will turn seven on August 1 but has only raced 10 times for one reason or another. What we do know about him is that he has talent. He's won twice with two placings and a handful of fourths and fifths. Comes off a smashing rival behind a good horse (Nimble Star, see race 5 below). CAPITAL DANCER (8) should feel comfortable in 'country grade'. HARD TOO IMPRESS (10) is very much on the right trajectory this campaign. Third-up, drawn well, good jockey, has handled the Heavy before. BET: TAORNINA SAILOR (7) to win, HARD TOO IMPRESS (10) to place. RACE 4: Maiden Handicap (1100m) THE GIT UP (14) remains winless after 16 starts but keep in mind that he has placed 10 times and five of them are seconds. There are no easy maidens in racing these days but this one looks well within his reach based on what he medalled in the past. NORTHERN EXPOSURE (3) is one for the pedigree buffs; in short, his third dam, North Fleur, is the granddam of the great Northerly. A veteran of four starts, he was placed at Dubbo on debut and has 'next time/more ground' written all over first-up at Muswellbrook. The 2023 Silver Goblet placegetter DUREN (5) has claims. BET: THE GIT UP (14) to win, box trifecta 3,5,6,14. RACE 5: Benchmark 58 (1100m) LIGHTNING SPEED (5) is ready to strike first-up BUT with nominations for two races at home at Scone on Thursday, one wonders if she will make the trip on Tuesday, more so given that all her form is on Good tracks. In her absence, all you can wind-in NIMBLE STAR (1) a few points; that said, he was always going to be popular given he is a Brett Robb-trained galloper who has won two of three and lost the rider at the other one. Stablemate DENMAN DEPUTY (4) is the one with the race fitness. More than that, he is a last-start winner. BET: LIGHTNING SPEED (5) to win or if scratched, DENMAN DEPUTY (4) and MISS KARIS (11) to place. RACE 6: Benchmark 66 (1600m) THE IMPECKABLE (6) has 16 starts for three wins, three seconds and four thirds. He goes on anything; his record on Heavy is two starts for a win and a third. One thing about him, from the outside looking in, is that he might not win every time but he does hold his form really well. BLUE GUITAR (5) has some seriously compelling numbers. Two of his four career wins are at a mile, he has placed on Heavy and is one for one at Wellington (should the meeting be at this venue). Building up to something and this could be it. BET: THE IMPECKABLE (6) to win, BLUE GUITAR (5) each-way, quinella 5,6. RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap (1400m) PODCAST (8), a $330,000 Magic Millions Yearling purchase in 2025, sold again for $3,000 online in February this year was going great guns prior to her two '00's at the last couple. That said, one was a TAB Highway and she actually wasn't that bad. Warren last start was harder to forgive but then again, they aren't machines and can have bad days. Mudgee mare KOBOLD (14)'s last two by contrast have been very encouraging, she beat a decent line-up at home on July 6 then was huge from near last to finish a length off the winner in a Class 1 at Bathurst. BET: PODCAST (8) each-way, KOBOLD (14) to place. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ WAGGA TIPS BEST BET Race 8 No.18 SUPER RIFF: Hit the line with purpose last start and has won on a heavy track. NEXT BEST Race 3 No.5 PRIDE OF JEZZA: Gary Colvin-trained gelding who was a booming winner on a Wagga heavy 10 last start. LAY OF THE DAY Race 3 No.6 FLUTTERBY: Has competition here and looks a good lay at $3 or less.

Mitch Cohen, Shayne O'Cass Randwick tips: Saturday July 26, 2025

Racing writers Mitch Cohen and Shayne O'Cass present their race-by-race tips and analysis for the 10-race meeting at Royal Randwick on Saturday. MITCH'S BEST BET Race 10 No.6 PUNTIN MITCH'S BEST VALUE Race 8 No.7 THE BLACK CLOUD SHAYNO'S BEST BET Race 8 No.4 CIGAR FLICK SHAYNO'S BEST VALUE Race 9 No.10 RANTAN • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 1: KEENELAND SEPTEMBER YEARLING SALE HCP (1100m) Shayne O'Cass: We should start by pointing out the rail placement for the day; 11m out from the 1000m to the winning post; 8m the remainder. What effect that has, if any at all, will become evident pretty early on. For the record in the first I am eager to see how NAZWAH (7) makes the transition from Gosford to Randwick. Nazwah is out of a very good filly who has turned into a very good broodmare namely Najoom who has already thrown stakes-winners Charm Stone and Najmaty and the way this filly might get to black-type herself. Mitch Cohen: On speed could be the place to be with the rail where it is but we will wait a couple of races to see how it plays out. I am with NAZWAH (7) too. Interesting to hear Peter Snowden say her debut win took him a bit by surprise. It was a very impressive performance and I doubt she will be getting under anyone's guard on the weekend. SHAGGY (1) has to be a chance if he can replicate his early two-year-old form. It wasn't so long ago that he was a hot favourite in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes and a genuine Golden Slipper prospect. • EXPERT TIPS: Clinton Payne's race-by-race tips and analysis for Randwick on Saturday ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 2: MIDWAY HCP (1600m) Shayno: KINGSTON CHARM (2) is indeed a member of David Hains' epic family that delivered the fastest Melbourne Cup winner ever, Kingston Rule. As for Kingston Charm, she is much more a miler than a two-miler; and make that a 'Randwick Miler' Nosey Parker is known for getting back and charging late mostly in 1200m races but he actually ran a pretty respectable race at Wyong at his only 1600m run when Willie Pike rode him. CALLISTEMON (9) is the obvious, SUNSOURCE (8) might be the value at $7 the place. Mitch: We are in agreement again. I thought KINGSTON CHARM (2) was desperately unlucky not to win the other day and she finds herself in a very similar race here. She's ready for a peak performance third-up. CALLISTEMON (9) is another one that didn't have a lot go her way the other day. She's a chance but the outside draw could make things ugly. FORECASTER (3) is drawn to get every possible on speed. • Tips from the big bookies for Saturday ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 3: TAB HIGHWAY PLATE (1800m) Shayno: Typhoon Tracy relation IN SUMMER (6) has three wins, three seconds and a third from eight starts. She was third last start in a Highway here but was, IMHO, the moral victor. The two that beat her had all the favours whereas he had none. A lot of that goes for RED RAGS TO BULLS (7) too who was fifth in that on-pace Highway. How could those two NOT run 1800m? OFF THE SCALE (8) has already won over 'the Tchaikovsky distance' (1812m) by four then won at Scone by three over 1700m. Mitch: IN SUMMER (6) went straight in the blackbook following her strong third in a Highway race at a mile last time. She has never been tried at the 1800m but off that last run you'd expect her to lap it up. RED RAGS TO BULLS (7) is a descendant of an SA Oaks runner-up so the 1800m could prove right up her alley too. Matt Dunn can never be discounted in a Highway either so FULL OF SINCERITY (2) deserves respect. He's dropping back 430m in trip but this is significantly easier than a Grafton Cup. • Big Dance lure not enough to sway Pfieffer ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 4: THE AGENCY REAL ESTATE HCP (1300m) Shayno: CODETTA (1) has been most unlucky this preparation Mitchy, You could make a sane case to argue that this half-sister to Riff Rocket could have won any or all of her three starts this time in but for wide barriers and track bias and so on. Barrier 4 this time, 2kgs off, even luck she wins IMHO. Could it be the same trifecta as the July 5 race here with GOLDEN STRAAND (8) (runner-up that day) and DIDDLE DUMPLING (2) (who won) both fronting up again? Sure can. Outside of those, one has to acknowledge that SIGNOR TORTONI (3) is on a hat-trick. Mitch: GLORIOUS MOMENTS (6) has been given a month to get over his excellent first-up success at Canterbury. The smart son of Brutal hadn't raced for 59 weeks heading into that and should be advantaged by the added break between runs. He's untapped. STARDEEL (4) deserves consideration on the strength of his consistent preparation. The 1300m looks ideal for him now. SIGNOR TORTONI (3) is going through his grades nicely and should be competitive again. • Untapped talent Signor Tortoni chasing another win at Randwick on Saturday ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 5: MOSTYN COPPER HCP (1600m) Shayno: In case you forgot Mitchy, I was declaring RUBY FLYER (1) first-up in the Winter Stakes but the fact that he was $41 to $51 suggested that she would need the run. The long and short of it was that he was 11th of 13 but only beaten six-lengths and I thought he ran through the line with purpose. Loves the 1600m and loves Randwick. One has to be (totally) forgiving of Big Dance placegetter SUPER HELPFUL (2) first-up given he bombed the start. OH DIAMOND LIL (4) is bombproof. Mitch: No one could doubt your loyalty Shayno! I found it impossible to go around OH DIAMOND LIL (4). I know David Pfieffer was considering the Coffs Harbour Cup but with the rail out, this looks like an ideal race for her. She will settle close to the speed and I am tipping she will be too hard to run down. ABERLOUR (9) is another one that will find herself on speed and was good doing it from out in front over 1800m last time. RUBY FLYER (1) is best of the rest. • Thompson has strong hand to cap off outstanding season ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 6: TAB HANDICAP (1800m) Shayno: Tasmanian Oaks runner-up VERY SEWREEL (9) was my Black Booker from the July 12 meeting here even though she ran ninth of 13. That was her first run for Bjorn Baker but she is familiar with HQ given she came from Waterhouse/Bott. Terrible bias on the day, she has to be marked 'up' for what was an already honourable return over 1400m; 1800m this time. Boom. SHE'S UNUSUAL (5) is a last start track/distance winner. Nettoyer's little (half) sister CHANGING COLOURS (7) had no chance with the bias here two weeks back. Mitch: SHE'S UNUSUAL (5) won't get the same luxury out in front that she was afforded last start but she can win again. She gets a great draw to settle close to the speed and only has to carry a kilo more after Ben Osmond's 2kg claim. PIGGYBACK (8) has been a tad frustrating in recent starts but hasn't had a lot of luck either. She is at peak fitness and will be in the mix again. BRIGHT RED (10) is a consistent mare but doesn't win all the often. • Snowden loads up Spring arsenal with young talent ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 7: MARCELLIN COLLEGE RANDWICK HCP (1300m) Shayno: Not sure if GENTLY ROLLED (7) turns up on Saturday or is saved for another day given the wide draw and the rail placement. The brief version from last start is 'beaten by the bias'. UNSTOPABULL (6)'s trainer Chris Waller mastered the art of the back-up a long time ago Mitchy. The stats say he has an 18.2 per cent winning strike-rate with horses backing up within 7 days and that increases to 46.6 per cent when placings are added. One more thing, Unstopabull had no luck last weekend. Mitch: SACRED ROCKS (4) would be odds on if she drew a gate. She's the clear class runner and only needs to overcome another wide draw here. I am convinced she is a stakes quality mare and she's unlucky not to be three from three this preparation. DRIFT NET (9) is drawn to get on speed favours from barrier one. She is going to be the one the favourite needs to catch. UNSTOPABULL (6) will run his typical race and be the best of the closers. • 'Best horse we've had in a while': Lee brothers chasing Glorious victory ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 8: THANK YOU TRAINERS HCP (1100m) Shayno: We all use the term 'unlucky' a lot, sometimes too much Mitchy but seriously, how unlucky was CIGAR FLICK (4) the other day! I know she is not everyone's cup of tea, for some she is poison, but honestly and truly, if the best Cigar Flick shows up, she has to be in the finish. STORM THE RAMPARTS (1) is '211212' this preparation, and I'm tipping Cigar Flick! The world's gone mad! But one last time and if she gets rolled this time with no good reason, it's goodbye. Mitch: I think THE BLACK CLOUD (7), albeit it not a huge price, still present some nice value around the $6 quote. She is a model of consistency with two close seconds already to her name this prep. If the rain hits Sydney, that's only going to help her cause. BUNDEENA (11) looked the winner a long way out first-up. He will be poised pounce from a good draw. STORM THE RAMPARTS (1) has to go in the quaddie. He's flying and has shown big weights are no concern. • Peter V'landys Q&A: Rosehill, the haters, his future and much more ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 9: THANK YOU OWNERS HCP (1100m) Shayno: RANTAN (10) has been incredibly unlucky (there's that word again) this whole three start campaign. Unless this rail placement spoils it for backmarkers, I am working on the wide barrier being favourable, or at very least, not disadvantageous to her winning prospects. APACHE BREEZE (18) is $9 the place which is an inviting price about a horse in form and nearing a win. Like him at Randwick with its big straight. Mitch: I went looking for a different angle away from the favourites and landed on RANTAN (10) too. She will need the likes of ZOURIPPER (15) and REGIMENTAL COLOURS (12) to set a genuine tempo up front to get her chance but if she gets clear air late, she will be finishing strong. CASSIEL (3) is racing well and his racing pattern should help him negate the wide draw. He's got the form man Tom Sherry aboard too. LORDSTER (7) is a cheeky hope at double figures. • 'Monumental for racing': PVL in talks with DAZN over global racing channel ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 10: THANK YOU STABLE STAFF HCP (1800m) Shayno: KING RATEL (9) is perhaps not a guaranteed starter given the draw, but he is on top for me if he comes otherwise it is as open as the Heads – like all good Get Out Stakes should be. Maybe MIRACLE SPIN (3)? Encouraged by the trial. TRAVOLTA (5) wants 1800m now, big time. PUNTIN (6) just keeps on running good races and is 'Bjorn in the last!' Mitch: Saving the best to last Shayno and that's PUNTIN (6). This bloke couldn't run a bad race if he tried, running second, first and second this prep. He has been well prepared for a crack at 1800m here. Provided he avoids another slow getaway, I think he's going to take a power of beating. MIRACLE SPIN (3) is an interesting runner. Matt Smith has wasted no time, going first-up over 1800m. He's raced well and the same track and trip before. The Waller pair of PURE ALPHA (7) and KAZALARK (11) are in the mix. • 'Looks like a bull now': Trainer aims high with Shaggy

Shayne O'Cass's Wellington, Wagga Tuesday tips, inside mail

Form analyst Shayne O'Cass presents his best bets and inside mail for Wellington on Thursday, plus his tips for the Wagga meeting. â– â– â– â– â– WELLINGTON TIPS BEST BET Race 1 No.4 HANNAH'S BRIDGE: Has shown improvement from one run to the next; so close now. WELLINGTON INSIDE MAIL HANNAH'S BRIDGE (4) was bred by her trainer Derek Piper and is a half-sister to her handy stablemate named Cheap Gas. ANGIE'S SISTER (5) was $21 into $71 on debut in a 1000m Country Maiden on September 29 last year and ran a very cheeky race; she led and came in fourth of 14 at the finish behind a pretty handy winner in Taormina Sailor (see race 3 below). 3,5,7,9,11. AORNINA SAILOR (7) will turn seven on August 1 but has only raced 10 times for one reason or another. THE GIT UP (14) remains winless after 16 starts but keep in mind that he has placed 10 times and five of them are seconds. There are no easy maidens in racing these days but this one looks well within his reach based on what he medalled in the past. BET: THE GIT UP (14) to win, box trifecta 3,5,6,14. LIGHTNING SPEED (5) is ready to strike first-up BUT with nominations for two races at home at Scone on Thursday, one wonders if she will make the trip on Tuesday, more so given that all her form is on Good tracks. THE IMPECKABLE (6) has 16 starts for three wins, three seconds and four thirds. He goes on anything; his record on Heavy is two starts for a win and a third. One thing about him, from the outside looking in, is that he might not win every time but he does hold his form really well. BLUE GUITAR (5) has some seriously compelling numbers. Monday best bets, inside mail for Monday 28 July, 2025

The Daily Telegraph form expert Shayne O'Cass previews racing at Kempsey on Monday. FIELDS AND FORM KEMPSEY MONDAY KEMPSEY BEST BET Race 2 No. 4: Hayley's Rocket Turned in an encouraging debut in a good looking Super Maiden. NEXT BEST Race 1 No. 7: Everyready Bunny Has 10 thirds in 28 starts, almost always with the best finish of the race. VALUE Race 6 No. 1: Tanglewood Jimmy Boasts a fine record at this venue' third-up here and closing in on another win. BEST EXOTIC Quinella Race 4 Nos. 5,6 QUADDIE Race 5: 2,6,14 Race 6: 1,8,10 Race 7: 1,3,5,7 Race 8: 1,3,10 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Shae Wilkes has some good rides on Monday from start to finish. â– â– â– â– â– RACE 1 Everyready Bunny has a unique record of no wins, no seconds but 10 placings in 28 career starts. A lot of the time, this Novocastrian is finishing faster than most of his rivals. Once again, he has drawn a wide gate but on the plus-side, he has two thirds from three visits to Kempsey. Turning Circle has been costly but consistent having placed at half of her dozen starts. No excuses if beaten. Ultimate can perhaps figure in the placings at odds. Bet: Everyready Bunny to win, exacta 7 to beat 4 RACE 2 Hayley's Rocket trialled well prior to her debut on South Grafton Cup Day in the Super Maiden hence why she was backed from $21 into $12. The John Shelton trained filly was a real eye-catcher in what was a pretty strong race even by Super Maiden standards. Drawn better this time. Vendemmia makes his NSW debut armed with a Sandown placing and one at Ipswich with prior trainers. Warbreccan has claims so too Subsidise. Bet: Hayley's Rocket (best bet) RACE 3 Torque Ti Amo is a direct descendant of the peerless broodmare gem Eight Carat. This Matthew Dunn trained filly was a fast closing runner-up to stablemate Gaylord in the same Super Maiden alluded to above. Drawn wide but the step up in trip might offset that hopefully. Resume brings together Mark Minervini and Luke Rolls who share an incredible 32 per cent winners to runners. She Can Dance and Power Through are contenders. Bet: Torque Ti Amo to win RACE 4 Heart Of Platinum has a tidy resume of 12 starts, one win, two seconds and three third. The daughter of All Too Hard has been effective from 1400m up to 2018m so this 1900m Class 1 & Maiden fits perfectly for her. Not sure the barrier is a plus but has Ben Looker and does get back most times anyway. Justice Please hasn't fared much better in the barrier department hence why she is nominated for a very suitable mile race at Scone later in the week. Bet: Heart Of Platinum to win, quinella/exacta 5,6 RACE 5 Got The Smarts was bred at Gooree and hails from one of its most prized families, of which it has had a few. She is by Gooree's own Smart Missile, is also a half-sister to Tactical Advantage and from the same family as their iron horse Desert War. Got The Smarts has a tidy little CV, is super reliable and good enough to win better races. That said, Mofeed is a genuine obstacle. He too has done by far more good than bad in his nine starts. Written Fame is a reliable horse. October Revolution loves the slop. Bet: Got The Smarts to win, box First 4 Nos. 1,2,6,11,14 RACE 6 Tangelwood Jimmy is third-up and ready to hit a peak after two most encouraging runs at Muswellbrook. The only glaring negative is that he is unplaced in all three starts on Heavy tracks. Pity really, cause he loves it here at Kempsey. Dane Ripper's granddaughter Shine Like It Does ran rather well at Grafton on Ramornie Handicap day. Will be winning races up this way from now on. So You Can Torque (a 'nephew of Vow And Declare) is going to eat up the 1450m now and more after that. Bet: Tanglewood Jimmy to win or is scratched, So You Can Torque to place RACE 7 Yareakh has so far only managed one win in 16 starts but that was on a Heavy 10 at Scone beating Little Beginnings and others. Granted, that win came on debut but he has placed four times since and gave a pretty honourable account of himself in a Highway on Golden Eagle day. Champonnet has had three runs for Matthew Dunn; he won the first of them at Casino on a Heavy 8, easily, and with Jett Newman in the saddle, same as this. Marine Girl is from an astute yard. Resumes off a couple of decent trials. Bet: Yareakh each-way, quinella 1,3 Crowie's Shout has the highest benchmark rating in this race and that always has to count for something. It is clear that his 'best' is better than what most, if not all of these others bring to the table. It is just a case of how close this Anamoe relative is to said best. Whatever the case, barrier 3 and 3kg off for a really talented apprentice boosts his prospects. Miss Uchitel is a big player, she's got Dunn training and Bullock riding, but how will she go if we are on a Heavy 9 or 10?

Lismore best bets, inside mail for Friday, July 25, 2025

Racenet and The Daily Telegraph form analyst Shayne O'Cass provides his best bets, value selection and race-by-race analysis for Lismore on Friday. The Form: Complete NSW Racing thoroughbred form, including video replays and all you need to know about every horse, jockey and trainer. BEST BET Race 3 No. 2: TORQUE TI AMO Castlevecchio filly who rattled home first-up in a Super Maiden. Extra trip suits. Lightly-raced mare who will win her share of races. Draw the only issue. VALUE Peter Robl trained gelding who is heading in the right direction QUADDIE Race 5: 1, 3, 4, 6 Race 6: 1, 4, 7 Race 7: 1, 2, 3, 4 Race 8: 1, 3, 5, 15 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Superstar apprentice JETT NEWMAN can rack up some points in the TAB Jockeys Challenge (before scratchings). INSIDE MAIL - LISMORE MISS UCHITEL (2) was born and raced at Gilgai Farm in Victoria. In fact. she has the same 'brand' as another Gilgai graduate in Black Caviar. To add to her value, Miss Uchitel is a daughter of the Tasmanian stakes-winner, Spinning Jenny. Ultra-consistent mare who shapes well here again. Stablemate OUR SILVER LININGS (1) really ate into the margin first-up at the Gold Coast. Has drawn well and gets 2kg off for superstar apprentice, Jett Newman. A NOTION (5) has done enough to be respected and considered. Bet: Miss Uchitel to win â– â– â– â– â– RACE 2: XXXX Gold Mdn Plate BARRON (1) is a cleverly-named son of a mare called White House Lady. Granted, the equine Barron hasn't been able to trump his rivals in 33 starts no less but he has placed 13 times and occasionally in rather good maiden company. He'll get there sooner rather than later. HAYLEY'S ROCKET (6) had trialled well behind a good horse then came out and ran a slashing debut behind a handful of good horses in that 1106m Super Maiden on the South Grafton Cup undercard. Go well. Bet: Barron each-way, quinella 1, 6 â– â– â– â– â– TORQUE TI AMO (2) is a Matthew Dunn-trained filly by Castelvecchio which goes a long way to accounting for why she seems to have such a powerful finishing burst. We saw that in plain view when she resumed at Grafton in the Super Maiden where she was getting ever closer to the winner, namely her handy stablemate, Gaylord. SASKATOON BERRY (12) has gone 29 starts without a win but she has placed nine times. She deserves one but has run into a potentially above average horse. Bet: Torque Ti Amo to win, exacta 2 to beat 12 â– â– â– â– â– RACE 4: Lismore Floor Coverings Mdn Plate NATIONAL GOAL (7) is trained by Peter Robl who will be in Darwin in 11 days' time striving for back-to-back Cups with last year's winner, Hadoukan. National Goal was in the market but never in the race first-up, taken back from a wide gate. Has trialled well since and cops a much more favourable gate today. LET'S DO IT AGAIN (4) hasn't fared as well in the barrier stakes but gets Ben Looker to assist and is a horse on an upward trajectory. BETTER BELIEVE IT (9), ANDROSS (1) and KEMAL (3) have claims. Bet: National Goal each-way â– â– â– â– â– WRITTEN FAME (1) is part of the Darby Bloodstock string. They only paid $10,000 for him at the HTBA Yearling Sale and this Matthew Dunn-trained gelding has won $76,025 in 14 starts with the promise of more to come. Written Fame has the capacity to go on all surfaces and he is most effective circa this trip. Nice alley, has a 2kg claim too. WESTERLY (6) hasn't been seen since winning at Coffs Harbour on December 14 hence the market is the guide. RYLOV (3) is in the mix and by the way, look at his damline; Rhema, Mannington, Bint Marscay, Eau D'Etoile. Bet: Written Fame to win â– â– â– â– â– GOT THE SMARTS (4) was bred at Gooree and hails from one of their most prized families of which they have had a few. Long story short, she is by Gooree's own Smart Missile, is also a half-sister to Tactical Advantage and from the same family as the iron horse, Desert War. Got The Smarts is a tidy little resume; super reliable and good enough to win better races. That said, MOFEED (1) is a genuine obstacle. He too has done by far more good than bad in his nine starts. DIZZY DEE (7) and NO RAGRETS (5) are players. Bet: Got The Smarts to win â– â– â– â– â– SO YOU CAN TORQUE (3) was a $20,000 bargain at the 2022 HTBA Yearling Sale. What a pedigree. He is by 10-time Group 1 winner So You Think out of a half-sister to the Melbourne Cup winner, Vow And Declare. It stands to reason then that this Matthew Dunn-trained racehorse is only going to get better as time goes by and he's already done some good things. GAVIN (2) is a chance (if he comes). CHAMPONNET (1), another Dunn runner, has drawn wide but the form reads well. Ditto, in fact double that, for YOUCOMPLETEME (4). Bet: So You Can Torque to win â– â– â– â– â– INSINUATE (2) was a $510,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling sale buy. Why? Well for starters, she is by the four-time Champion Sire Snitzel then there is the fact that her dam won the Wellington Boot. Not just any Boot winner, Sin Sin Sin, was her name and she is now known as the mother of Yes Yes Yes. Matthew Dunn has got this filly flying and box 2 with Jett Newman only seals the deal. HOTZINO (5) is a chance (if he comes). Outside of him, maybe the other Dunn runners; CALVARY (4) and LUCKY NEKO (9) are the 'threats' to Insinuate. Bet: Insinuate to win BEST BET Race 3 No. 2: Torque Ti Amo Castlevecchio filly who rattled home first-up in a Super Maiden. Extra trip suits.
