Annual Bellevue community drop-off set for the weekend

BELLEVUE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An event people wait all year for is happening this weekend: the Bellevue Community Drop-off. People bring things they've been wanting to get rid of to the drop-off location. Some of them are thrown away; some repurposed. It's happening this Saturday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to noon at Bellevue Middle School. Post Malone opening Broadway bar Metro Councilmember Sheri Weiner is heading the event. She told News 2 there's always a big turnout and long lines out, so those wanting to participate should plan to come early. A few of the acceptable items include TVs, furniture, bikes, stoves, sinks, and mattresses. Items not on the list will not be taken, including carpets, air conditioners, batteries, roofing, construction debris, lumber, landscape, tree refuse, refrigerators, tires and paint. ⏩ The things that are disposable will be disposed of; all electronics are recycled; and papers that people wish to be shredded are shredded on-site. 'Bellevue is lucky to have such engaged and dedicated nonprofit and civic organizations that collaborate year in and year out to make this happen,' Weiner told News 2. One important note, though, is the event is not open to the full public: it is limited to Bellevue residents only. Volunteers will be checking at the door to ensure those attending actually live in Bellevue. Do you have news happening in your neighborhood? ‘There's got to be better options': Residents express concern over storage unit project in Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A community meeting will be held in Bellevue Thursday evening for residents to ask questions and express their concerns about a development in the works on Old Hickory Boulevard. One Bellevue resident told News 2 that she wants the development to be community-oriented, but worries that it's not going to end up that way. The development will be located at 621 Old Hickory Boulevard, which is where an old putt-putt course used to sit. You can get your REAL ID at the Bellevue Community Picnic – Here's what you need In 2022, the land was sold and Sheri Weiner, councilmember for the district, said there were plans to build a storage unit. However, Jordan —who lives in a townhome right off Old Hickory Boulevard—told News 2 that she and other residents don't want to see another storage unit. Instead, she said they would rather have something they can enjoy as a community. 'It could be a family-owned business, it could be food trucks that are local, it could be a coffee shop. We just think it should be an open dialogue,' said Jordan. 'There's got to be better options. We care about safety, we care about property values.' The community meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Bellevue Community Center. Do you have news happening in your neighborhood?
