Mandatory Credit: Bob Frid-Imagn Images Welcome back to another Memorable Match from the Vancouver Canucks' 2024–25 season. Last time, we looked at the team's match against the Detroit Red Wings on December 1. This week, we'll take a look at Kiefer Sherwood's December 16 domination of the Colorado Avalanche. His NHL record-breaking hit total on the season has been spoken about at length, earning him the fan-voted title of the team's unsung hero. The Canucks were high on Sherwood long before they signed him in free-agency, noting that their first-round playoff series against the Nashville Predators opened their eyes to his skills. Advertisement Early on in the season, Sherwood got off to a bang, expressing his confidence in possibly breaking the NHL season hit record. By December 15, Sherwood was already at eight goals, six assists, and 179 hits. On December 16, Sherwood broke his career-high in goals scored in one season. Previously, he'd scored 10 in 68 games with Nashville in the 2023–24 season. On the 16th, he scored his first NHL hat trick to set a new personal record. His three goals propelled the team past the Avalanche, whose only goal came from Valeri Nichuskin. Sherwood's effort in this game resulted in fans starting a 'Kief-er Sher-wood' chant. After the game, he'd discussed how hearing the chant was 'a pretty special honour. 'I was trying to take it in,' he said at the time. 'I really appreciate the fan support. Obviously, passion is something that Vancouver is known for, and that's pretty cool. I will definitely remember it.' PFF: Two Jets linebackers named among 32 best in the NFL
PFF: Two Jets linebackers named among 32 best in the NFL The New York Jets have one of the best sets of linebackers in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. The football analytics outlet named their top-32 linebackers in the NFL heading into the 2025 season. The Jets had two names pop up on the list. Following his breakout 2024 year which earned him a contract extension, Jamien Sherwood cracked the rankings at No. 28 overall. Along with Sherwood, Quincy Williams leads the way for the Jets on this list at the No. 11 position. Heading into his first season in charge, having a promising linebacker duo could be profitable for new head coach Aaron Gleen. PFF's breakdown on Williams can be found here: Although Williams' 2024 season wasn't his best work, it wasn't without its positives. His 74.3 PFF run-defense grade marked a career high. While his coverage metrics took a hit, he isn't far removed from an 88.7 PFF overall grade in 2023, which earned him All-Pro honors. Should he be able to return to that level of play in 2025 under Aaron Glenn, he could be looking at more accolades. And here is PFF's breakdown on Sherwood:

Sherwood returns to championship form, wins Maryland 3A baseball title
Sherwood is no stranger to big moments. The baseball program that Coach Sean Davis has built in Sandy Spring has evolved into the most feared in Maryland, and Friday's trip to the Maryland Class 3A championship game in Bowie was a familiar one. The experience of playing in a larger stadium, the stakes of knowing this was what an entire season of work came down to — it was nothing new. Playing with a championship confidence, the Warriors beat Chopticon, 8-3, to claim their fourth state title in five seasons and sixth overall. 'The boys were probably more calm than I was, and they did a great job,' Davis said. 'It's not about the win or the loss. It's that I got to see 22 great kids have one of the happiest moments of their life together. That will never get old for me.' From 2021 to 2023, Sherwood (23-3) won three consecutive titles at the 4A level. Their 16-game playoff winning streak was snapped in the region finals last season, but there was never a thought within the program that it was anything more than an anomaly on their record of authority over local competition. 'When this team was made in March, I already knew we could go far,' senior center fielder Jacob Bagania said. Pitching and defense were never a concern for Davis, but experimentation was necessary to find the right lineup. If the Warriors could just score six runs per game, the coach said, they wouldn't be beat. Eventually, sophomore Jaiden Sarita was moved to the cleanup spot. All of the sudden, the runs started flowing with more ease. The move paid dividends again on Friday when Sarita drove in four runs. 'My mindset in the box is to attack, attack, attack,' Sarita said. 'I know that if we hit the ball, we have a defense behind us that'll play elite baseball all seven innings.' With junior outfielder Carter Sweeney-Strawberry, a Rutgers commit, forced to miss extended time with an injury, Sherwood's depth was put to the test this postseason. The Warriors passed with flying colors. Bagania was dynamic out of the leadoff spot, with shortstop Ryan Rey providing a lethal one-two punch behind him. Senior Bryce Sheahin played the part of ace pitcher, tossing a three-hit, six-strikeout complete game shutout in Tuesday's semifinal win over Chesapeake. But perhaps their greatest ability was their championship experience. Groups like this are uniquely built to weather momentum swings in consequential games, so when Chopticon (17-6) plated the first run of Friday's contest in the second inning, Sherwood remained unfazed. By the end of the fourth, the Warriors led, 6-1. 'It soothed the nerves," Bagania said of playing in his second state championship game. 'Going into this game two years ago, I didn't really know what to expect. But now that this is my second time here, I felt more calm." Chopticon's greatest threat came in the top of the fifth, with the middle of the order up, bases loaded and no outs. A walk and an error brought the score to 6-3. If there was a time for the Braves to eat into their deficit, this was it. That was when Sherwood senior Ty Hames bore down. He got two quick outs before finishing the inning with a strikeout. As his teammates fist pumped, Hames kept his vision low, calmly walking to the dugout. 'Before the game even started, I told the guys it was going to take all seven innings,' Hames said. 'At Sherwood, it's kind of state championship or bust.' Six outs later, it was over. Hames took out the last three batters in order, finishing the game with a groundout to third base. His career ended right where it has for so many to come through Sherwood in recent years — at the bottom of a dogpile.

The Sherwood Group Stands by Shareholders on the Green Card
Vero Beach, Florida--(Newsfile Corp. - May 23, 2025) - The Sherwood Group, a long-term and significant shareholder with approximately 29.90% of the issued and outstanding shares of Barnwell Industries, Inc. ("Barnwell", "BRN" or the "Company") today issued the following letter to Barnwell shareholders. To our Long-Suffering Barnwell Shareholders, On Wednesday, Delaware Vice Chancellor Paul A. Fioravanti, Jr. entered a judgment invalidating our slate of Board candidates from being considered for election at Barnwell's upcoming annual meeting. Not once in Judge Fioravanti's 75-minute soliloquy reciting case after case about various technical requirements did he factor into his decision the overwhelming support received in favor of removal of management's slate and that as of May 23 approximately 42% (and growing) of Barnwell's outstanding shares had voted on the Green Card for the election of Brian Henry, Doug Woodrum, Ben Pierson and me (Sherwood slate) versus less than 15% of Barnwell's shares have voted for the incumbent Barnwell Directors (Company slate)!! While we retain our right to appeal the Judge's decision, it is very disappointing that the Delaware court blatantly ignored the will of the shareholders and opted for form over substance. Equally troubling is the SEC's continued failure to enforce basic standards of transparency and disclosure in Barnwell's press releases and other filings. Years of violations of section 13(d) filings by the Magaro family have gone unaddressed and Kinzler's blatant statements about his group of approximately 25% of Barnwell shareholders has never been questioned by the SEC! We are obviously disappointed that all long-suffering Barnwell shareholders (along with me) will not get an opportunity via our slate to turn around Barnwell's chronic underperformance, entrenchment tactics, clear violation of governance, and refusal to act in the best interest of all shareholders. Despite Grossman and Horowitz almost being removed by a majority of shareholders in the Consent Solicitation, they still assert themselves as "stewards of corporate governance." If they truly cared about what shareholders wanted, they would listen to them and step down. To be clear: unless we hold a majority of the Board and can implement the real changes that our plan had contemplated, a turnaround would be a difficult challenge especially given the current "going concern" warning stated in Barnwell's current quarterly filing. We did not anticipate that current entrenched management would expend nearly all its remaining scarce cash balances on non-productive legal defense and in so doing jeopardize Barnwell's viability. Again, we are shocked and disappointed at the outcome of our efforts. But we respect and support the will of the shareholders. As such, although the Judge has ruled that the Sherwood slate of directors are not eligible for election, we will continue our solicitation on the GREEN card in protest against the Company's blatant disregard for its shareholders. We will not stand by without protest while the Company "rips off" the election against approximately 42% (and growing) of the outstanding shares who have voted in favor of the Sherwood slate (and against them). Grossman and Horowitz may not wish to protect OR respect the will of the shareholders but the Sherwood Group will preserve it to the extent it can. Sincerely, /s/ Ned L. Sherwood Ned L. Sherwood Voting Is Ongoing Shareholders are reminded that voting remains open for the 2025 Annual Meeting. Preliminary voting results are not final and may not reflect the ultimate outcome. Shareholders who have already voted may revoke their proxy and submit a new one at any time up to and including the meeting date. Shareholders should note that Barnwell has refused to accept or count votes submitted in favor of the Sherwood Group. The Sherwood Group strongly urges shareholders not to give undue weight to the preliminary voting results and, instead, to consider all material facts concerning the election before making their voting decisions with respect to the annual meeting. Child rapist who went on run jailed for 19 years
A man who raped a child and subjected her to "despicable acts" of abuse before going on the run has been jailed for nearly 20 years. Alexander Sherwood left Rotherham after hearing he was wanted by South Yorkshire Police, but was tracked down by police in Liverpool. The 52-year-old of Stanley Road, Liverpool, was found guilty of 12 sexual offences at Sheffield Crown Court in February. Sherwood was sentenced on Monday to 19 years in prison and handed an indefinite restraining order and a sexual harm prevention order at the same court. Police praised the bravery of the victim for coming forward. Det Sgt Fiona Trussell said: "The bravery of the victim in this case must be commended, it takes a lot of courage to report something of this nature. "No child should ever be a victim of sexual assault and rape and I hope that this result shows others survivors of abuse that when they come forward, they will be listened to and treated with respect through every step of the prosecution process." Sherwood was found guilty of four counts of rape, four counts of assault by penetration, two counts of assault by touching, one charge of engaging in sexual activity in presence of a child and one count of causing a child to watch/look at an image of a sexual nature. He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life. Listen to highlights from South Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, catch up with the latest episode of Look North. South Yorkshire Police
