Four found scaling garbage heaps to trespass Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, inquiry ordered
Puri, The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration on Wednesday constituted a committee to inquire into the alleged breach of security at the 12th-century shrine here after four unknown persons were found scaling the outer perimeter wall of the temple. Four found scaling garbage heaps to trespass Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, inquiry ordered SJTA chief administrator has formed a committee headed by the administrator to inquire into the matter, Puri District Collector Chanchal Rana told reporters after a video of four people scaling the garbage heap near the 'Meghnada Pacheri' went viral in social media. PTI could not independently verify the authenticity of the video. "Admitting that there was a lapse", Rana said that the committee will probe into the alleged breach of security. "Trespassers are being identified and accountability will be fixed in this incident. Subsequent action will also be taken," the collector said. Stating that the district administration has taken the matter "seriously", the collector said that the CCTV footage will be verified and the persons involved in such activities to be identified. It was seen in the video that four unidentified men gained unauthorized access into the shrine by scaling the outer perimeter wall, using a large pile of garbage accumulated near the wall as support. The incident took place on Tuesday despite elaborate security arrangements in place during and after the annual Rath Yatra and Niladri Bije rituals. Biswanath Khuntia, a servitor said that he has witnessed many people scaling the garbage heap and entering into the temple premises. "The number of people illegally entering into the temples is not four, it should be hundreds," Khuntia said. The devotees expressed concern over the incident and raised questions on the utility of the AI-enabled cameras for the security of the 12th-century shrine, which is under the scanner of mischief mongers. In the post-Pahalgam terror attack, the intelligence agencies had warned the Odisha Police regarding the Puri temple remaining on the radar of terrorist outfits, an official said. Former member of the Temple Managing Committee and renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik said: "It is surprising that despite the huge deployment of security forces during Rath Yatra, no one spotted them climbing the wall and entering the premises. This is a clear case of lapse on the part of the security agencies." This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

Srimandir's Ratna Bhandar repair to be over by Niladri Bije: Gajapati
BHUBANESWAR: Repair and renovation of the Ratna Bhandar of Shree Jagannath temple, which began in December last year, will be completed by Niladri Bije on July 8, Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb said. He reviewed the final phase of renovation works of Ratna Bhandar on Thursday along with Srimandir technical committee members and officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). He said this repair work was necessary and the structural condition of both Bahara Bhandar and Bhitara Ratna Bhandar was extremely poor. 'Ratna Bhandar now appears safe and has been beautifully done. The renovation has been done in alignment with the shrine's Kalinga architectural style,' he said. Gajapati added that this is a historic work as the inner Ratna Bhandar remained sealed for four decades. 'Soon after the work is completed by Niladri Bije and after the Trinity return to the Ratna Simhasana, the inventorisation of Ratna Bhandar will begin as per the SOP,' he added. ASI Puri circle head DB Garnayak said, 'At least 550 damaged stone blocks and a corbel arch have been changed in both the Bhitara and Bahara Ratna Bhandar. These are the major stone blocks from exterior and interior side walls of both chambers of Ratna Bhandar, which had deteriorated over the years.' Apart from this, 15 damaged beams in the structure have been replaced with stainless steel beams, both big and small. In the Bhitara Ratna Bhandar, black granite flooring has been done and the granite was sourced from Nilagiri. 'All the stone work has been done in Khondalite stone sourced from within the state as Khondalite was originally used in Ratna Bhandar,' he said. Besides, the renovation works have been done entirely in traditional dry masonry method. Currently, monitoring work is underway. Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Arabinda Padhee said that the steel door of outer Ratna Bhandar has been replaced with a new stainless steel door and outside it, a Burma teak wood gate has been installed.

Stage set for Trinity's Snana Purnima in Puri Jagannath temple today
PURI: The stage is set for the Deva Snana Purnima rituals of the Trinity in Shree Jagannath temple here on Wednesday. The deities will be escorted to Snana Bedi at around 4 am on Wednesday in a ceremonial Pahandi procession by Daita servitors. The ritual will be completed by 6 am. After installing the deities on the Snana Bedi, Mangalalati, Mailam, Tadap Lagi and Abakash would be performed by the servitors. The Sana Purnima is a prelude to the annual Rath Yatra of the Holy Trinity scheduled to start on June 27. The ceremonial bathing of the deities, using 108 pitchers of aromatic water, is scheduled to commence at 9.30 am and conclude by noon. Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb will perform the Chherapahanra on the Snana Bedi at around 3.30 pm following which the deities will be dressed in elephant attire, famously known as the Hati Besha. The Snana Purnima rituals began on Monday night with the Daita servitors preparing the deities for the Pahandi to Snana Bedi. They will fix the Chenapatta (body armour) on the deities on Tuesday night to minimise the stress during the Pahandi. Another group of servitors will fix Charmalas (huge ladders) to the Ratna Singhasan to facilitate the Pahandi.

SJTA, ASI draw Rath Yatra plan for Srimandir repairs
BHUBANESWAR: Along with Ratna Bhandar, the Garbha Gruha or sanctum sanctorum of the Shree Jagannath temple in Puri will be taken up for repair and renovation during the Rath Yatra, when the Trinity will be away at Gundicha temple. The pending repair works for the Ratna Bhandar, which are currently suspended due to Chandan Yatra and other rituals, will resume from June 28 and continue till July 6. This decision was taken during a review meeting of the technical advisory committee of Srimandir and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on conservation works of Ratna Bhandar and Garbha Gruha. This year, Rath Yatra will be celebrated on June 27 and Niladri Bije on July 8. Chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Padhee said, 'The ASI has been asked to complete the chemical washing and scientific conservation of outer parts of Ratna Bhandar in seven to 10 days. While five damaged beams in the Bhitara Bhandar have been replaced with stainless steel beams, four to five beams in the Bahara Ratna Bhandar will also be replaced with stainless steel box beams.'
