Royal fans roar for Bengaluru
In fact, it felt like a repeat of the 2023 ODI World Cup final where the fans painted the stadium blue. Except, this was a T20 league and the colour was all red — RCB red. Not that Punjab did not have the support or fans; New Chandigarh was their den during the playoffs and Shreyas' stakes have gone up significantly since the start of the season. However, clearly, RCB fans have shown up and the final witnessed a crowd that IPL has perhaps never seen before. Two months ago, when the 18th season of the IPL began, little did anyone expect these two teams to come to the final and play in front of a packed stadium in Ahmedabad. The final was scheduled for Kolkata and there were a few teams considered favourites. Even the road to this point was not a straightforward one. At one point, it did not even feel like the IPL would happen in this window when the league was suspended due to the India-Pakistan conflict. When the league was suspended for eight days, there was uncertainty over the return of foreign players — and some of them did not because of other commitments. Even when it resumed, there were question mark over the scheduling. The rule changes made midway to avoid complete washouts — some teams even wrote to the BCCI about it — and uncertainty over which venue would host the playoffs.

" Bas Jeetna Hai": Shreyas Iyer's Mother, Sister Share Heartfelt Wishes For PBKS Ahead Of Final vs RCB
The highly anticipated day has finally arrived as Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are all set to face each other in the IPL 2025 final match on Tuesday in Ahmedabad. Both the teams had memorable outings in the league and they finished in the top two. In the previous meeting in the Qualifier 1 match, RCB one-sidedly clinched an eight-wicket win over PBKS and reached the finals. However, Shreyas Iyer and co too put up a dominating show against Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier 2 and marched into the final. Ahead of the high voltage grand finale clash, skipper Shreyas Iyer's mother and sister extended their heartfelt wishes for PBKS as they reached the final for the first time since 2014. In a video posted by Punjab Kings on X (formerly Twitter), the mother-daughter duo began by saying "Chardi Kala" - a message which spreads positivity and high spirits. Virat Kohli 's nearly two-decade long agonising wait to lay hands on an IPL Trophy with Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be up against Shreyas Iyer's resolve to make first-time winners out of the tenacious Punjab Kings when the 18th season finale of the world's biggest T20 league. The summit clash in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium could witness a thousands of fans donning jersey No.18 to support Kohli, who is in an IPL final for a fourth time overall.

Behind Shreyas Iyer 2.0: Sessions with coach Pravin Amre and a WhatsApp group named 'Team Shreyas'
In the Qualifier 2 vs Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings captain was unstoppable. The right-hander smashed 87 off just 41 balls and cleared the ropes on eight occasions during an exhibition of fabulous strokeplay. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Opposition skipper Hardik Pandya used every card up his sleeve to unsettle Shreyas but nothing worked. Even Jasprit Bumrah and his accurate yorkers couldn't trouble the 30-year-old who was in the zone! Twenty three runs were needed off the last 12 balls and Shreyas switched the mode on when he smashed four sixes off Ashwani Kumar's 19th over to wrap up a tremendous win, and become the first captain to lead different IPL teams to finals in consecutive editions. While the discussion has revolved around the Mumbai cricketer's calibre as a captain, the ongoing season has further showcased his prowess as a game-changer with the bat. Over 600 runs this year is his best run in the IPL but what is even more significant is the 39 sixes. The PBKS captain smashed just 14 sixes in the previous edition and has almost tripled the tally. "We worked on Shreyas' bat swing with a focus on helping him connect well. He has slammed 39 sixes so far this IPL while his overall tally of sixes in the previous three editions comes down to 30," said Shreyas' childhood coach Pravin Amre. IPL 2025 Final, RCB vs Punjab Kings: The wait will finally end in Ahmedabad "Shreyas' current strike-rate in IPL 2025 is 175.80 which he specifically focused on enhancing. He has also worked harder towards finishing games following the Champions Trophy 2025 where he played critical knocks but couldn't finish certain games. I told Shreyas, 'In India, we go with Raymond suits, which are stitched despite the availability of ready-made Gucci and Armani suits. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Similarly, he should choose a technique which is tailor-made for his approach rather than trying to emulate someone else'," added Amre. Shreyas' batting average this season currently stands at 54.82, which is quite impressive considering his average of 39.00 in the previous edition. The PBKS captain's average as a batter in IPL had never crossed 40 before the ongoing edition. Shreyas has further smashed six half-centuries this season as compared to the two fifties in the previous edition, setting his personal best records in the tournament. Poll Will Shreyas Iyer's performance lead Punjab Kings to their first IPL title this season? Yes, definitely! No, they will fall short. While the PBKS captain's performances have been truly impressive, the journey behind his dazzling transformation has been one of tremendous commitment, tracing back to 2024 when he was excluded from BCCI's central contracts. "As we know, Shreyas had suffered a back injury in 2023, as a result he had to miss the IPL and had further underwent surgery. It's always a massive task for an individual to overcome it, both physically as well as mentally. Shreyas was looking forward to make a comeback. However, unfortunately he lost out on the central contract. It came as a big set back. It's tough. But Shreyas looked at it as a window of opportunity to make use of the time. He regrouped a set of individuals to form his core team, and I was fortunate to be part of his journey along with the strength and conditioning coach and he himself. We named our working group as 'Team Shreyas'," said physiotherapist Abhishek Sawant who has worked with the batter for close to a decade now. IPL 2025 Winner Prediction: What Greenstone Lobo's Astrology says There was a lot of attention given to the mental aspect of the game and what stood out was the right-hander's relentless approach. 'We had detailed out his journey with a holistic approach, dividing the transformation into three parts: Physio, S&C and his skill sets. Shreyas also underwent a mental switch, practising a lot of visualisation. There was exclusive focus during the period of two to three months on making him as robust as possible and getting him back into his best shape. "What stood out during the course is that Shreyas wanted us to keep pushing him. There were days when he woke up with a lot of soreness but there was no attempt to escape the grind. He's gone through so much toil that any challenge seems easy," said Sawant. During that difficult period, there was never a dip in the level of dedication and extreme focus helped him return an even better cricketer and stronger individual. "His current level of excellence is because of his pure dedication, doing the right things at the right time and being extremely focused. The results are in front of everyone," concluded Sawant.

PBKS vs RCB: Does Shreyas Iyer love playing in Chandigarh? How has Punjab Kings captain fared at home?
Shreyas Iyer is having a stellar IPL season, both as a batter and as a captain. The Punjab Kings captain scored 514 runs at a strike rate of 172 in the league stage. His 31 sixes were bettered only by LSG's Nicholas Pooran (40 sixes) and Mitchell Marsh (37 sixes) and MI's Suryakumar Yadav (31 sixes). However, there is one minor glitch in Shreyas' performance, and he will be eager to fix the bug before Punjab Kings' Qualifier 1 game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the New PCA Stadium in Chandigarh tonight (May 29). Four innings, four boundaries (3 fours, 1 six), and a highest score of 10. Shreyas Iyer's performance at the New PCA Stadium in Chandigarh is clearly an anomaly. If one were to play the two truths and one lie game about the PBKS captain, most people would pick the above statement as the lie. Opponent Date Score Mode of dismissal Bowler RR April 5 10 (5) Bowled Jofra Archer CSK April 8 9 (7) Bowled Khaleel Ahmed KKR April 15 0 (2) Caught at deep point Harshit Rana RCB April 20 6 (10) Caught at long on Romario Shepherd One thing to be noted about the four low returns in Chandigarh is the absence of any clear pattern. Shreyas scored four, dot, four, and two in the first four balls he faced off Jofra Archer and lost his stumps off the final ball of the over, attempting another attacking shot. However, there is no similarity between his dismissals against RR and CSK. Shreyas' wicket will be the key for RCB as the rest of the Punjab Kings batters have very minimal experience of playing in the playoffs stage. Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, and Shashank Singh are making their first ever appearance in IPL playoffs, whereas Nehal Wadhera played 2 games in the playoffs for Mumbai Indians in 2023.
