The highly anticipated day has finally arrived as Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are all set to face each other in the IPL 2025 final match on Tuesday in Ahmedabad. Both the teams had memorable outings in the league and they finished in the top two. In the previous meeting in the Qualifier 1 match, RCB one-sidedly clinched an eight-wicket win over PBKS and reached the finals. However, Shreyas Iyer and co too put up a dominating show against Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier 2 and marched into the final.
Ahead of the high voltage grand finale clash, skipper Shreyas Iyer's mother and sister extended their heartfelt wishes for PBKS as they reached the final for the first time since 2014.
In a video posted by Punjab Kings on X (formerly Twitter), the mother-daughter duo began by saying "Chardi Kala" - a message which spreads positivity and high spirits.

Glenn Maxwell reckons โ€˜Dewald Brevis was fast-tracked into South Africa playing XI': โ€˜Tag of Baby AB heavy burden'

Dewald Brevis, a 22-year-old South African middle-order batter, has been the toast of the town following his exploits in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Australia. The right-hander smashed the highest T20I score by a Proteas batter in the second T20I, scoring an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls. This was also his maiden T20I ton. He then backed it up with a knock of 53 runs off 26 balls. Dewald Brevis was in smashing form in the T20I series against Australia. (AFP) The knock in the third and final T20I might not have been enough to help South Africa register a win. However, Australia's middle-order batter Glenn Maxwell was all but praising Brevis following the conclusion of the game. Maxwell sympathised with the Dewald Brevis situation, saying the youngster was probably fast-tracked into the Proteas playing XI based on the reputation he created for himself in the U19 World Cup. It must be mentioned that Brevis was one of the major breakout stars in the U19 World Cup. Due to his batting style, the tag of 'Baby AB' was associated with him. Many believed Brevis's gameplay to be similar to that of former South Africa captain AB de Villiers. Brevis made his T20I debut in 2023, but it has taken the Proteas batter two years to become familiar with him. 'Brevis has got a lot of talent. It was hard not to see the highlights when he played the U19 World Cup for South Africa. All the Baby AB stuff. It's a pretty heavy burden he had to have early in his career. He probably got fast-tracked a little bit into the South African side,' Maxwell told reporters after the conclusion of the third T20I. His bat swing is really pureโ€”he's hard to stop when he gets going,' he added. Brevis on song since playing for CSK Earlier this year, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) signed Dewald Brevis as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh. The right-handed batter was signed for INR 2.20 crore. The young batter changed the complexion of CSK's batting in the IPL 2025 season as he introduced aggressive gameplay, registering 225 runs in six matches at an average of 37.50 and a strike rate of 180. This performance in the IPL led to Brevis's being called up to South Africa's squads, and the batter has not looked back since. There has also been some controversy regarding Brevis' acquisition by CSK after Ravichandran Ashwin commented that the youngster was paid 'extra' by the franchise. However, CSK issued a clarification on the same, saying all the rules and regulations were followed by the five-time champions in availing the services of Brevis for IPL 2025.

'Coaching Is A Difficult Job...': Aakash Chopra On MS Dhoni As Potential India Coach

Last Updated: Aakash Chopra has discussed coaching challenges and why former India captain MS Dhoni might avoid the role despite Gautam Gambhir's mixed results. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has said that coaching is a difficult job and keeps one as busy as one was during his/her playing days and sometimes even more than that and hence, former India captain MS Dhoni might not want to take up the job even if the spot opens up. The Indian team has had mixed results under head coach Gautam Gambhir and Dhoni is in no position to take up a coaching job even if offered, with his playing days with the Chennai Super Kings still on. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra was asked whether Dhoni could become the national team's head coach. 'That is a big one. I don't think he is interested. Coaching is a difficult job. Coaching keeps you as busy as you were when playing and sometimes even more than that. You have a family and you say that you have done the same thing your entire life, you have lived your life out of a suitcase and you don't want to do that job now," Chopra said. 'That is why a lot of players don't get into coaching and even if they do, it's a two-month IPL stint. However, if you become a full-time Indian head coach, it's a commitment of 10 months a year," Chopra added. Chopra acknowledged that Dhoni could take up the coaching role if he wanted to give something back to Indian cricket. Meanwhile, Dhoni, who was the stand-in skipper in IPL 2025, where Chennai finished at the bottom of the table for the first time, has admitted that the team has holes in the squad which they would try to plug in at the IPL 2026 mini auction. Ahead of IPL 2026, with most franchises already having a settled unit, CSK do have a hard challenge ahead in terms of building a strong outfit. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Baby AB title is a big burden to carry: Glenn Maxwell dissects Dewald Brevis's rise

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has weighed in on Dewald Brevis's rise, saying the young South African has had to carry the weight of expectation that comes with being called 'Baby AB.'Brevis, just 22, has long been compared to AB de Villiers, a nickname that followed him from his Under-19 days. As quoted by Yahoo News, Maxwell admitted the tag was more of a burden than a blessing, given how quickly the youngster was thrown into the international a pretty heavy burden he had to have early in his career,' Maxwell said. 'He probably got fast-tracked a little bit into the South African side. He's gone away, worked on his game, and he's come back playing beautifully. His bat swing is really pureโ€”he's hard to stop when he gets going.' Brevis's recent form has been nothing short of spectacular. In the second T20I against Australia, he hammered a breathtaking and unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, laced with 12 fours and eight sixes. The knock, which came at a strike rate of 223, powered South Africa to 218/7 and helped seal a 53-run win. It was also the fastest T20I century ever by a South African, surpassing a record previously held by Virat Kohli against the same opposition in 2022. That knock catapulted Brevis up the ICC T20I charts, climbing 80 places to reach 21st position with a career-best 614 rating journey hasn't been smooth. After making an eye-catching start with Mumbai Indians, a slump in form saw him struggle for consistency and eventually part ways with the franchise. But IPL 2025 gave him a fresh start with Chennai Super Kings. Signed as an injury replacement for Rs 2.2 crore, Brevis scored 225 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 180, including two half-centuries that reminded fans of his fearless with two Tests and 10 T20Is under his belt, Brevis is in contention for South Africa's ODI squad against Australia. No longer weighed down by the 'Baby AB' tag, he looks ready to carve out his own identity in world cricket.- Ends
