Over 520 students placed at SRCC with highest package of Rs 36 lakh
The Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, has concluded its 2024–25 placement season with remarkable results. Students secured more than 520 job offers across a wide range of sectors, with the total package value touching Rs 51.5 crore, a 19% jump compared to last year. The highest package reached Rs 36 lakh, underlining SRCC's strong placement season also brought a boost in internship opportunities. Over 120 internships were rolled out, together valued at Rs 57.2 lakh. The highest monthly stipend offered touched Rs 2.2 lakh, while the average stipend saw a 12.5% rise from the previous from over 15 industries participated in the hiring drive, including consulting, finance, investment banking, private equity, e-commerce, and startups. Top recruiters included McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Blackstone, Nomura, Deutsche Bank, DE Shaw, FTI Consulting, Accenture Strategy, AB InBev, Kepler Cannon, and continues to remain a leading choice for commerce aspirants. In the first round of CUETbased seat allocations for the 2025–26 academic year, the college stood amongst the most preferred institutions, alongside Hindu College and St. Stephen's humanities programmes, Hindu College topped the charts with a cutoff of 950.58/1000 in BA (Hons) Political Science under the General category. As DU UG admissions begin, over 62K students get seat in round 1 allotment
NEW DELHI: The first round of undergraduate admissions at Delhi University concluded on Thursday, with 62,565 candidates confirmed for admission. Following this, the upgrade window was opened, allowing admitted candidates to reorder their preferences until 4:59 pm on July 25, 2025. The vacant seats as of July 24 were uploaded on the website late Thursday evening. Among the confirmed admissions, 34,014 are female students, and 28,551 are male. Notably, 143 orphaned students have secured admissions, with 77 females and 66 males. Additionally, 949 single girl children have been admitted, highlighting the university's commitment to inclusivity. A senior DU official stated that 16,126 admissions have been frozen, while 43,741 candidates have opted for seat upgrades, taking advantage of the opportunity to secure preferred courses and colleges. In the first round, DU allocated over 93,000 seats, surpassing its undergraduate seat capacity of approximately 71,000 to account for withdrawals and rejections. The admission process, which began on June 17, 2025, under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), saw the highest-ever number of applications, with over 3.05 lakh candidates signing up. Of these, 2.39 lakh successfully submitted their preferences. The acceptance window for candidates to confirm their seats will open on July 28, 2025, at 5 pm and will remain open until July 30, 2025, at 4:59 pm. Candidates must accept the seats allotted to them by the deadline. Additionally, the upgrade option will remain available, subject to seat availability. This year's admission process saw a surge in program-college combinations, with (Hons) emerging as the most preferred course with nearly 19.9 lakh preferences. Other popular courses include B.A. (Hons) English, Political Science, and History. Shri Ram College of Commerce, Hindu College, and Miranda House topped the list of most sought-after colleges based on first preference data. In terms of program distribution, 58.89% of candidates opted for humanities-based programs, 20.89% for commerce, and 20.22% for science. Delhi University To Release 1st Seat Allocation List Today For UG Admissions
The University of Delhi (DU) will release the first seat allocation list for UG admissions 2025 today at 5 PM. Candidates allotted a seat will have time until July 21 to confirm their acceptance. The university has concluded Phase 2 of the Common Seat Allocation (CSAS) UG 2025 process. Admission to all undergraduate programmes will be conducted through the CSAS UG portal. The admission process includes registering for CUET-based counselling on the DU portal, submitting college and course preferences, followed by seat allotment. Meanwhile, the university began its Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) admission trials on July 18. These trials are being conducted across various colleges and will continue until July 26. The trials cover more than a dozen categories, including music, dance, debate, theatre, digital media, yoga, and fine arts. Earlier, on July 15, the university released the simulated ranks. These ranks are tentative and were generated based on the candidates' submitted scores and programme preferences at the end of Phase 2. Following the release, a window was opened for students to revise their programme and college preferences. This window remained open until 11:59 PM on Wednesday, July 16. This year, the University of Delhi has received the highest number of applications ever, with students seeking admission to 71,642 seats across 79 programmes offered in 69 colleges and various university departments. Each ECA category is divided into sub-categories to assess candidates in specific areas. On the opening day, July 18, trials were held for Hindi debate and Indian vocal music. In terms of overall preferences, BCom (Hons) emerged as the most opted-for programme, receiving 19,90,966 total preferences. It was followed by BCom with 15,26,403 preferences, BA (Hons) English with 12,23,388, and BA (Hons) Political Science with 9,96,868 preferences. When it comes to first-preference choices, BCom (Hons) again topped the list with 48,336 students selecting it as their primary choice. BA (Hons) Political Science followed with 15,295 first-preference entries, BSc (Hons) Zoology with 12,722, BTech Mathematics and Humanities with 10,584, and BCom with 8,939. Among colleges, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) received the highest number of first-preference entries at 38,795. It was followed by Hindu College with 31,901, Hansraj College with 15,902, St. Stephen's College with 12,413, and Miranda House with 11,403. In the BA Programme category, the most preferred subject combinations included BA (History + Political Science), which received 7,60,233 preferences. This was followed by BA (Economics + Political Science) with 3,88,407, and BA (English + Economics) with 3,49,367 preferences. Stream-wise, humanities-based programmes accounted for the majority of choices, with 58.89% of students opting for them. Commerce-based programmes made up 20.89%, while science-based programmes accounted for 20.22%. The university is also preparing to begin trials for performance-based admissions under ECA, Sports, and other special quotas. Sports trials for undergraduate admissions are likely to begin on Friday, July 25. Candidates are advised to visit the respective college or department websites for specific dates and details related to trials under performance-based categories. Admissions under the ECA, Sports, Performance-Based, and CW (Children/Widows of Armed Forces Personnel) quotas will commence from the third round of seat allocations. Kaiyikho, the youngest son of his family, has now become the third brother in his family to attain this prestigious qualification. Following in the footsteps of his elder brother, A. Losi Kaiina Mao, who passed the CA exam in July 2022, Kaiyikho and Losi are now recognised as the first chartered accountant brothers in the state of Manipur. Originally from Song Song village in Senapati district, Kaiyikho currently resides in Mao Tafou. He graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce at Delhi University and later pursued a post-graduate degree from Delhi School of Economics. With unwavering support from his family and community, he prepared for the CA exams on his own. His father, Adahe Mao, who is retired from the Income Tax Department, expressed his emotional pride, attributing his son's success to divine grace and the blessings of their family, relatives, and church. Kaiyikho is one of five siblings, with one elder brother being a CA and another an engineer. He also has two younger sisters who are currently studying. With Kaiyikho's success, there are now four chartered accountants in Senapati district—three from the Mao community and one from the Poumai Naga tribe—making this a significant accomplishment for the district. DU UG admissions 2025: Delhi University gets more than 3.05 lakh registrations, highest since CUET
Delhi University has received over 3.05 lakh registrations for its undergraduate admissions for the 2025–26 academic session, according to data released by the university on Tuesday. This marks the highest number of applicants since the implementation of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). As per the university, 2,39,890 candidates have successfully submitted their preferences through Phase II of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), which opened after the CUET results were declared on June 17. The admissions are being conducted for 71,642 seats across 79 programmes in 69 colleges and various university departments. The total number of unique programme-college preferences received is 1,68,36,462, with candidates allowed to choose from a maximum of 1,549 programme-college combinations. One applicant submitted as many as 1,414 preferences — the highest recorded. On average, each candidate submitted 83 preferences. In terms of gender distribution, 1,27,284 female candidates (53.06 per cent) submitted their preferences, compared to 1,12,603 males (46.93 per cent). Three candidates registered as transgender. The university also received 512 applications under the Orphan Quota (221 females, 291 males) and 7,243 under the Single Girl Child Quota. Among the most popular programmes, (Hons.) received 19,90,966 preferences, followed by (15,26,403), BA (Hons) English (12,23,388), BA (Hons) Political Science (9,96,868), and BA (Hons) History (7,72,029). The top three BA programme combinations selected were History + Political Science (7,60,233), Economics + Political Science (3,88,407), and English + Economics (3,49,367). Stream-wise, 58.89 per cent of the candidates opted for humanities-based programmes, 20.89 per cent for commerce, and 20.22 per cent for science. Following this, candidates will be allowed to revise their preferences until 11.59 pm on July 16. The first list of CSAS seat allocations will be released on July 19 at 5 pm. Trials for admissions under the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota will begin on July 18, while sports quota trials are scheduled to start on July 25. Candidates applying for performance-based programmes are required to consult their respective departments or colleges for trial schedules. Admissions under ECA, sports, and other performance-based categories will begin with the third round of CSAS allocations. Trends in DU admissions in post-CUET era Compared to previous years, the 2025 Delhi University admissions cycle shows continuity in key trends as well as some notable shifts. and (Hons) continue to dominate applicant preferences, mirroring the patterns seen in 2022, 2023, and 2024. In 2022, nine of the 10 most-selected college-programme combinations were in commerce, and in 2023, was again the most preferred course with over 72,000 applicants. The popularity of BA (Hons) English and Political Science has also remained steady across the years. Colleges like Kirori Mal, Hindu, Hansraj, and SRCC have consistently attracted the highest number of applicants. In 2025, this pattern holds, with SRCC, Hindu, Hansraj, and St. Stephen's among the most listed colleges in candidate preferences. The number of applicants has remained above 2.4 lakh since 2023; in 2025, 2.39 lakh candidates submitted preferences, marginally lower than the 2.45 lakh recorded in the previous two years. The use of simulated ranks and a modification window has been a consistent feature since 2022, and the system has remained largely unchanged, though the volume of college-programme combinations listed by candidates has risen significantly this year, with over 1.68 crore preferences submitted.
