Texas A&M Softball remains in the Top 10 after going 4-1 after Week 2

Texas A&M softball had a strong showing at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, moving to 10-1 during non-conference play despite dropping their first game of the season to Oklahoma State. The Aggies went 4-1 during the weekend, starting with two wins before experiencing a heartbreaker in game three via a walk-off home run by the Cowgirls. The game was highly competitive, with an inconsistent strike zone leading to pitchers on both teams having to throw hittable balls to get a strike called in their favor. Unfortunately for the Aggies, Oklahoma State capitalized on one of those pitches, sending it over the fence for the win. Texas A&M responded well, but leaving Florida with just one loss was a bit of a struggle. Both Virginia and Charlotte gave them a run for their money in the final two games. The Aggies scored four runs in each game, providing enough cushion for their defense to secure the wins. All major softball polls have the Aggies still in the Top 10 following their 4-1 record at the weekend tournament in the Sunshine State. Texas A&M softball moves to 10-1 on the season after the Clearwater Invitational

No. 5 Texas A&M softball team had a good performance at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, going 4-1 and moving to 10-1 during non-conference play. The Aggies started the tournament strong, outscoring their first two opponents 18-2. However, they suffered their first loss of the season to No. 10 Oklahoma State in frustrating fashion. Up 5-2 with two outs, the Cowgirls hit a double that scored two runs, followed by a walk-off home run to win 6-5 on day two of the Clearwater Invitational. Oklahoma State continued this trend by eventually walking off No. 12 Alabama in their final game of the tournament. Despite the setback, Texas A&M bounced back to win their final two games, showcasing their resilience and determination. Softball is a game of failure, requiring players to work through challenges and figure out how to win the next at-bat or pitch. The Aggies have a deep team, but some of the clutch experience that helped them through rough patches was noticeably missed this weekend. Head coach Trisha Ford understands that it's a work in progress, emphasizing that good teams make the necessary adjustments to win. The Aggies must develop the ability to bounce back and secure victories if they want to reach their potential for a successful season. "I just told him like good teams make adjustments quicker and I didn't think we made our adjustments as quickly" Below, you can view the best highlights from their game five win to close out the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. FSU softball rallies to beat Wichita State

FSU softball rallies to beat Wichita State The No. 8 FSU softball team used a seven-run fifth inning to complete a comeback victory over Wichita State, winning 15-5 in six innings on Saturday night in the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. The Seminoles are now 7-1 and have won their last seven games. The Seminoles took an early lead thanks to an infield single by Michaela Edenfield that allowed Kennedy Hard to score with two outs. Harp reached base with a two-out single of her own and advanced to third on a poor throw when she stole second. The Shockers took the lead in the second inning when they hit a one-out single then a triple and double with two outs to take a 2-1 lead. FSU starting pitcher Makenna Reid pitched 2.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Julia Apsel came in to start the third inning and Wichita State loaded the bases with a double, walk, and a hit-by-pitch. They drove in two more runs with a two-out single. Apsel retired them in order in the fourth inning but allowed a leadoff homer in the fifth and Lonni Alameda turned to freshman Jazzy Francik to end the inning. FSU's offense roared back to life in the bottom of the inning. Isa Torres led it off with a single and scored on a double by Jaysoni Beachum. Katie Harp kept it going with a home run, making it a 5-4 Wichita State lead, which didn't last long. Harp now has four home runs and 17 RBI on the season. Edenfield hit a double and advanced to third on a one-out single from Jahni Kerr. A hit-by-pitch loaded the bases for Katie Dack, who drew a walk to tie the game at 5-5. Annabelle Widra broke the tie with a bases-clearing triple, putting FSU ahead 8-5. Francik retired the Shockers in order in the top of the sixth inning and FSU's offense took care of the rest. Harp led the inning off with a walk and Edenfield hit a two-run homer to left field. It is her third homer in as many days. Hallie Wacaser reached via a hit-by-pitch and was replaced by speedster Addie Delong, who scored on a single by Amaya Ross after she advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on a sacrifice bunt. A fielder's choice and walk allowed the Seminoles to load the bases for Torres who hit a game-ending grand slam to centerfield. Francik improved to 2-0 with the win and has a 0.00 ERA in 12.0 innings pitched. She leads FSU in innings pitched, strikeouts (12), and appearances (5). Up Next for FSU The Seminoles will play their final game in Clearwater on Sunday against the UCF Knights, the game is set to start at 8 p.m. ET and will be on ESPN. The Seminoles lead the series 25-5 and have won the last 15 meetings.

Texas A&M Softball Shines with Top 10 Ranking and Stellar Performance during Aggie Classic

Texas A&M softball (6-0) started the 2025 season off going undefeated in the Aggie Classic over the weekend, and they looked impressive doing it. Early season tournaments are a great opportunity to test different lineups and put players in challenging situations they may face later during conference play. Last year, a glaring issue for Texas A&M was the lack of pitching depth to support All-American Emiley Kennedy late in the season. After a rough start in the circle, the pitching improved significantly as the weekend progressed. A hidden gem might be true freshman Sydney Lessentine, who threw a complete game shutout against ACU. On offense, the Aggies are extremely balanced with incredible speed and potent bats. Transfer Mac Barbara is expected to be a significant threat to opposing teams because of how the ball jumps off her bat. If teams decide to walk her, Mya Perez, right behind her, can hit the ball just as well. There are no weak links, and the only real decision is who will take hold of the catcher spot when SEC play opens up. With the strong performances behind the plate, it might come down to who has the best bat. Overall, the early season tournaments have provided valuable insights into the team's strengths and areas for improvement. As Texas A&M builds momentum, fans can look forward to an exciting and competitive season. All major softball polls have the Aggies in the Top 10 following 6-0 start to the season with a top 25 win over Baylor. Texas A&M will travel to Wichita State for game 1 of the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational on Thursday, February 13, at 2:00 p.m. CST.
