Crunchyroll , the global brand fueling anime fandom, has unveiled the next wave of its brand campaign in India—a continued celebration of anime and its growing fanbase. The campaign features original ad films and digital shorts starring anime superfans Rashmika Mandanna and Tiger Shroff . The campaign spotlights the multiple benefits for Crunchyroll subscribers, including a growing catalogue of anime, which is also now available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, same-day episode releases as Japan, and an ad-free experience, all at an affordable price of INR 79. In the two main ad films, Mandanna and Shroff find anime versions of themselves on surreal adventures. Mandanna is swept away on a flying cat in a bustling city in Japan, which transforms into a Hindi film romantic scene on a river ghat in India. Meanwhile, Shroff's anime alter ego faces off with samurai foes in a dungeon where the samurai villain suddenly transforms into a Tamil-speaking antagonist. Both stories snap back to real life, revealing that they accidentally switched the language settings on the Crunchyroll app, which made them imagine the sequences as Tamil or Hindi film scenes. The ad films highlight the joy of discovering their favorite anime now dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. 'We are thrilled to return with the second edition of Crunchyroll's brand campaign in India — an exciting continuation of our journey with anime fans here,' said Akshat Sahu, senior director of marketing - APAC, Crunchyroll. Tear-Based Biomarker Identified for early detection of keratoconus
New Delhi: Delhi-based biotech company Vgenomics has partnered with Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital to validate and commercialize a tear-based biomarker , VSP-2224 , for the early detection of keratoconus , a progressive eye disorder affecting the cornea. VSP-2224, identified in tear fluid using Vgenomics' AI-based discovery platform RgenX-LENS, may help detect the disease earlier, before visible symptoms emerge. Clinical validation of VSP-2224 is underway. The biomarker will also be featured in OcuTear, a rapid diagnostic panel Vgenomics is developing for ocular surface diseases. Commenting on the development, Dr Anil Tiwari said, 'This partnership enables us to translate a tear-based biomarker into a clinically viable diagnostic test, with the potential to further develop it into targeted therapeutics.'

Alibaug's exclusive property market opens up to mainstream luxury developments
Bengaluru: Alibaug, a charming coastal town near Mumbai, is seeing a surge in luxury property development as branded residences and high-end hotels target a broader range of buyers beyond celebrities and business tycoons. Once known for secluded villas of Mumbai's elite, Alibaug is becoming more mainstream with several luxury gated communities coming up. These branded developments are targeted at both investors and end-users. Mumbai's top two developers - Macrotech Developers Ltd ('Lodha') and Oberoi Realty Ltd are gearing up to launch their first projects in Alibaug. Macrotech is planning to develop a 100-acre project that will have sky villas or duplexes, townhouses and a 7-star hotel, said two people familiar with the plans. 'The project 'Lodha Alibaug' is loosely based on the French riviera theme, and will come up on a prime location. It will have a private members' club, with a lot of focus on gastronomy and fine dining,' said one of the two persons cited earlier, both of whom spoke anonymously. The sky villas or duplexes on the higher floors would broadly be priced at ₹ 25-27 crore onwards, and the townhouses cost around ₹ 40 crore. Oberoi Realty, known for its uber luxury projects, is in discussions to develop a Ritz Carlton hotel and fully serviced, branded luxury villas, with a restaurant that will be managed by the hospitality chain. The developer had signed an agreement for around 81 acres in Alibaug's Tekali village last year. 'The project designing is in progress. Oberoi Realty will build a sample villa before starting the sales process. It is aiming for a FY26 launch,' said the second person. Spokespersons of Macrotech and Oberoi Realty didn't respond to queries. "Alibaug has become an extension of south Mumbai. Anything associated with south Mumbai gets tremendous value attached to it. Many south Mumbai families own Alibaug homes since the 1990s, followed by movie stars and, more recently, sports personalities have made it their home away from home. Mumbai-based A grade developers have now entered this market, making it accessible to a larger customer base," said Rati Shroff, assistant vice-president, luxury sales, at Anarock Property Consultants. Just like Goa, the Alibaug property market is also gaining steady interest from developers outside Maharashtra. Last year, Emaar India entered the Mumbai market with its first project in Alibaug. It launched 'Casa Venero', a premium project spread across 24 acres, with 84 villas priced at ₹ 8-15 crore. The USP of the project is a gated and exclusive community, over and above the farmhouse feel of villa with pool and private greens. 'Collectively, hundreds of acres of branded developments are underway in Alibaug. Given the good infrastructure and ease of accessibility, Alibaug will be a first home destination,' Shroff added. Mumbai-based Hiranandani Group plans to launch a 225-acre township 'Hiranandani Sands' in Nagaon. The township will be developed and launched in phases. The developer said it will offer hospitality-led products along with traditional real estate products such as villas, plots, and apartments. 'It will be an ultra-premium project, poised to cater to both leisure seekers and end-users. With the introduction of Ro-Ro (ferry) services, Alibaug now offers seamless, year-round connectivity to Mumbai, making it an attractive destination not only for affluent second-home buyers but also for first-time homebuyers in the long term,' said Niranjan Hiranandani, chairman of Hiranandani Group. In May, Avas Wellness, which counts cricketer Virat Kohli and businessman Adar Poonawalla as its clients, launched 'Ananta by Avas', a luxury project with four and five-bedroom villas. 'Avas Living, our first residential project launched in 2022, is now sold out,' said Aditya Kilachand, CEO and founder, Avas Wellness. Rising demand for Alibaug as a real estate market has also led to a surge in prices. 'Sol de Alibaug', a plotted development project launched by the House of Abhinandan Lodha in April 2023, has seen a big spike in prices. 'Plot prices have risen from ₹ 6,650 per sq ft to ₹ 10,000 per sq ft currently. Increasing ease of connectivity from Mumbai has built a strong case for Alibaug as a destination- with the RoRo and Atal Setu playing a key role,' said a company spokesperson.

Worst is over; specialty chemicals, new products to drive growth: UPL
Mumbai: Leading maker of agricultural chemicals and seeds UPL Limited is betting on new product launches and further diversification from the agricultural sector to sustain the recovery it recorded in FY25 further in the current fiscal. The company's revenue had grown 8% in FY25 after declining 20% in FY24. It also clocked a ₹ 1,383 crore loss in FY24 due to adverse market conditions, its first annual loss in nearly two decades. Currently, the company also stands to gain from the US-imposed tariff escalation, which would make it a preferable supplier over Chinese companies to American companies, said Jai Shroff, chairman and group CEO, UPL Ltd. 'In the US, there is a fantastic opportunity for us. We are competing without tariffs anyway. With tariffs, we are getting more phone calls from the US customers,' Shroff told the media during a post-earnings conference on Monday. North America accounted for 13% of UPL's FY25 revenue, a shade higher than it earned in India. Latin America is its largest market, accounting for 38% of revenues. To be sure, over the weekend, the Trump administration struck a deal with China to reduce tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to 30% for 90 days during which the two nations will try to thrash out a trade deal. In return, China has also reduced tariffs on US imports to 10%. Meanwhile, the US has levied a 26% tariff on all Indian shipments. UPL on Monday said it has changed the name of its fully owned subsidiary UPL Specialty Chemicals Ltd to Superform Chemistries Ltd to signal its diversification into specialty chemicals beyond the agriculture industry. It will operate as a fully independent entity, Shroff said. The company logged revenues of ₹ 1 billion in FY25 and UPL expects the business to grow more than 20% in FY26. To bring down its cost of production, UPL had invested in backward integration and started producing a lot of primary chemicals, Shroff said. The company realized that these base chemicals could now be used to manufacture specialty chemicals for sectors beyond agriculture such as pharmaceuticals, paint, polymers and perfumes, he said. 'There is a big need in India (for specialty chemicals) and we have a lot of inquiries. When we looked at the opportunity of Superform (we realized) that we were restricting the growth of Superform. So, we are creating a dedicated, focussed team who runs that business,' Shroff said. The business will be headed by Raj Tiwari as its chief executive officer. UPL will invest ₹ 400-500 crore every year in Superform. On its part, UPL plans to launch 25 new products in FY26, which have a cumulative revenue potential of $130 million (about ₹ 1,100 crore), according to Mike Frank, the chief executive of UPL Corporation. New products brought in $92 million ( ₹ 780 crore) out of the company's total revenue of ₹ 46,640 crore in FY25. The worst is over for UPL now, Shroff said. 'UPL took a very aggressive write down in the previous year. We cleaned up our high-cost inventory. Our teams across the world also got a clear direction that we need to get back to growth after a very tough period,' he said. The company reported a profit of ₹ 897 crore for FY25, ₹ 896 crore of which was accrued in the fourth fiscal quarter. Q4 revenue was up 11% year-on-year to ₹ 15,570 crore. Q4 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) grew 68% year-on-year to ₹ 3,240 crore. Ebitda margin improved 710 basis points to 20.8%. The company deleveraged its balance sheet by $1 billion in FY25 to end the year with a net debt of $1.62 billion ( ₹ 13,860 crore). Its net debt-to-Ebitda ratio improved to 1.7 from 4 at the end of FY24. Generally an acquisitive company, UPL will continue to focus on deleveraging barring any bargain deal that comes its way, Shroff said. The UPL stock gained nearly 35% since the beginning of the year compared to 5% for the benchmark Sensex. On Monday, the stock closed flat at ₹ 675.9 on the BSE. It is still trading below its 52-week high of ₹ 698.85.
