PM Modi to inaugurate Bengaluru's Yellow Line Metro on Aug 10
BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Sunday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru and inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro on August 10. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3, he said. In a post on 'X', Surya said, "Hon. PM Sri @narendramodi Ji's visit to Bengaluru on August 10 will be a landmark moment for Bengaluru South. He will not only inaugurate the long-awaited Yellow Line Metro operations but also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3 - a project that received Cabinet approval within the first 100 days of his third term." He said the Yellow Line will cater to close to eight lakh riders and the 'infamous Silk Board jam' will be addressed greatly. Public transport is the only option to reduce traffic congestion. "Together, these projects will benefit nearly 25 lakh people in Bengaluru South," he said. The MP said by inaugurating it on August 10, the Yellow Line Metro project would meet the August 15 deadline.

Surya said this could happen because of Modi's personal insistence that this must be open to public without any further delay. Surya, who is also the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national president, quoted Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who said on 'X', "I am pleased to announce that the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has kindly agreed to inaugurate 19.15 km Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra of Bangaluru metro with 16 stations at the cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore and lay the foundation stone of 44.65 km of Bangalore phase-3 at the cost of Rs 15,611 Crore on 10th August 2025." Surya had staged a demonstration to open the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro Rail project recently.

Yellow Line may finally open by August 15
BENGALURU: Yellow Line operations will hopefully commence by August 15, with the frequency, number of stations to be operational and time interval to be finalised, BMRCL MD M Maheshwar Rao said here on Saturday. Rao visited the protest site at Lalbagh, where hundreds of citizens, led by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, had gathered to demand the immediate opening of the RV Road-Bommasandra Yellow Line. Surya handed over a written appeal, highlighting the prolonged delays in operationalising the Yellow Line. Explaining the technical status, Rao said, 'The Independent Safety Assessment report is expected next week. Once received, we will proceed with safety inspections, and the line will be ready for operations.' The protest was sparked by BMRCL's repeated delays in opening the Yellow Line, a critical corridor meant to ease traffic to IT/BT hubs like Silk Board and Electronics City. Surya slammed the agency for missing deadlines, and warned of public protests at every unopened Metro station if the August commitment is not met. 'If the commitment to open the line in August is also broken, people will have no option but to protest outside each of the Yellow Line's unopened stations,' he said.

Bengaluru falling apart, but state government busy beating its own drum: Opposition
BENGALURU: In the wake of the heavy downpour wreaking havoc across the city, a BJP delegation visited rain-hit areas, including Silk Board, Madhavan Apartments in JP Nagar and Gurappanapalya, on Tuesday to assess the damage on the ground. During the inspection, the BJP leaders slammed the Congress government, particularly for holding its Sadhana Samavesha to showcase its achievements of two years in power at a time when the city is literally under water. They criticised the government for failing to maintain the city properly and not taking any proactive steps to fill the infrastructural gaps. 'The entire city is under water due to the rain and people are struggling. Five people have died in rain-related incidents in the state, but the Congress is holding a convention to showcase its achievements,' said Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka. 'If the government had any shame, it would have cancelled the convention. These deaths are due to the Congress' failures and the government lacks the moral authority to hold such events.'
