Simhastha 2028 will be historic: MP CM Mohan Yadav
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bhopal, Aug 5 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday said his government will ensure that the 2028 Simhastha Kumbha Mela at Ujjain becomes a historic event. New `ghats' or bathing platforms are being built along the Kshipra river in Ujjain, so that at least five crore people can take the holy dip in 24 hours, he said on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Public Vani newspaper. 'Simhastha 2028 will be made a historic event, and 30 km of ghats are being built for it. It will prove to be very convenient for devotees," he said. Yadav also launched the newspaper's mobile app and its Rewa edition on this occasion, in the presence of the Group Head Mrigendra Singh. Nashik police to seek more manpower for Kumbh Mela
Nashik: In view of the forthcoming Simhastha Kumbha Mela, the city police will be seeking additional manpower from state govt. Currently, a manpower of approximately 3,200 has been sanctioned for the city. CP Sandeep Karnik has instructed ACPs of the city to study the needed manpower in their respective jurisdictions so that additional manpower can be sought from govt. ACPs have been asked to study the jurisdiction of every police station under them, the sanctioned number of posts for each station, crime rate over five years and the number of rallies, agitations, hunger strikes, corner meetings, processions, VVIP visits, character verifications, etc, in every police station under them. The existing force with the police stations in the city is as per the norms decided in 1960. With the passage of time, population has increased, so have industrialisation and urbanization and social media use. These have changed the lifestyle of people leading to more political and religious crimes, cybercrime, etc. Hence, the manpower as per norms decided about six decades ago is falling short. Govt too has decided to make changes in deployments in police stations. A proposal for more manpower for the city police commissionerate ahead of the Kumbh Mela will also be put forward. ACPs have been instructed to compile details and submit to respective DCPs. This would then be submitted to CP Sandeep Karnik.
