Man suspected of double murder was a cop
The man suspected of shooting dead two young women at a flat in Central before turning the gun on himself on Friday morning was a police officer. 'Police can confirm that the [dead man] found on the scene was a 32-year-old off-duty police constable who was stationed at Algoa Park,' police spokesperson Lt-Col Siphokazi Mawisa said. An inquest docket and double murder case have been opened. Mawisa said Humewood detectives had responded to the scene at Gordon Terrace at about 9.30am. 'On arrival, they found the bodies of two women and a man with gunshot wounds. 'The motive for the double murder is unclear, however, a police investigation is under way. 'Information regarding the deceased will only be released once their next-of-kin have been informed.' According to bystanders, the two women worked as waitresses at a popular Gqeberha beachfront bar. Gqeberha cop allegedly kills two women, then himself
A 32-year-old police officer allegedly shot and killed two women before taking his own life this morning, 18 July 2025. The shooting incident allegedly occurred in a flat at Gordon Terrace, Central, in Gqeberha at around 09:30. According to a SAPS media statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, officers were called to Gordon Terrace. Upon arrival, police officers found the bodies of two women with gunshot wounds, along with the body of a man who had also sustained a gunshot wound. Police have confirmed that the deceased male was a 32-year-old off-duty constable stationed at Algoa Park SAPS. It is alleged that the constable shot the two women before turning the gun on himself. The motive is still under investigation. The identities of the deceased will be released once their next of kin have been notified. Another murder sent shockwaves through Gqeberha after the body of a 12-year-old girl was found dead in a bushy area in Bethelsdorp, Gqeberha. According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, officers responded to the scene around 12:45 on Wednesday, 16 July, and found the child with visible injuries. The cause of death is not yet known and will be confirmed following a postmortem. No suspects have been identified, and the motive is currently unknown. Electronics worth R42,000 stolen in burglary at Premier Mabuyane's residence
Police are investigating a break-in at Premier Oscar Mabuyane's East London residence after suspects removed a window pane and stole electronic equipment. Police are on the hunt for suspects linked to a burglary at the official residence of Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane. According to Eastern Cape police, intruders gained access to the property during the early hours of Sunday morning (May 18, 2025) and stole electronic items worth over R42,000. It was a member of the South African Police Services (SAPS) who was on duty at the house, who raised alarm bells. Eastern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa said it was reported that the member noticed that one window pane had been removed from the sitting room.
