Sky issues update on return of 'darkly comic' series with new cast added
The Sky Original thriller has added more stars to its cast as filming commences on season two Sky has announced a significant update for one of its popular series as production kicks off in London for the second season. The "darkly comic" Sky Original thriller, Sweetpea, features Ella Purnell portraying the unsuspecting serial killer Rhiannon Lewis. Tamsin Greig of Friday Night Dinner fame and Rish Shah from Overcompensating have recently been added to the cast, with Sky revealing their characters in the forthcoming series. Shah steps into the role of Gabriel, Rhiannon's new love interest, while Greig will be seen as Liv, the mother of AJ (played by Calam Lynch). Additionally, two more actors are set to appear in guest roles: Taj Atwal, known for Line of Duty, as Freya, Rhiannon's new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, and Jenny Walser from Heartstopper as Daisy, an adoring new acquaintance. The synopsis for the upcoming season teases: "Navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, Marina still hot on her trail, her sister selling her family home and a copycat killer threatening to expose her, the kill list is mounting. "But now that she's harnessed her rage and found her power, Rhiannon is forced to question whether her perfect ex AJ, was right: is she a monster?" Jon Pointing, Jeremy Swift, Leah Harvey, Ingrid Oliver, Nitin Ganatra, and Alexandra Dowling are all confirmed to return for season two. Purnell, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Ella Jones and Patrick Walters, assures fans that the new season will deliver "an intoxicating ride for Rhiannon as she continues on her murderous journey." The trio remarked: "This season, the stakes are even higher, and as the consequences of her actions begin to close in, questions of morality and justice will come into play." Based on C. J. Skuse's novel, the series has yet to announce an official release date for its second season. Debuting in October 2024, the first season earned acclaim with Rotten Tomatoes labelling Purnell a "diabolical delight".

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to Score TV Adaptation of The Death of Bunny Munro

Matt Smith produces and stars in the new, six-part Sky Original series, which comes to streaming later this year. No air date has been announced, but a preview, with two episode screenings and a conversation with Cave and Smith, will take place during the London Literature Festival at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall on October 30. Smith—the star of House of the Dragon, Doctor Who, and The Crown—plays the titular role of a door-to-door salesman who goes on a debauched road trip with his young son while dealing with both sex addiction and his wife's suicide. Writer Pete Jackson adapted the book, with Isabella Eklöf directing. Cave and Ellis recorded the score in London with go-to engineer Luis Almau. Their recent work includes last year's Amy Winehouse biopic score and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds album Wild God. Rob Brydon announces return of much-loved comedy Everyone's favourite comedy duo will be returning, and this time they are going up North Rob Brydon will be returning to our screens, as Sky announce another season of his comedy series (Image: PA ) Rob Brydon will be reuniting with comedian and friend Steve Coogan to deliver a new season of The Trip. Five years on from their Grecian adventures, the duo are back together for 'The Trip to the Northern Lights'. This will be the fifth season of their award winning Sky Original series, and will highlight the stark beauty of Northern Europe. Filming will begin in the picturesque landscapes of Scandinavia later this year, but for now the broadcaster have teased the start of the series. A blend of sitcom, travel documentary, and contemplation of midlife, 'The Trip to the Northern Lights' presents Steve and Rob at their argumentative and ingenious peak. Content cannot be displayed without consent In the past the pair have ventured to Italy, Spain, Greece and the original film was set across a restaurant tour of Northern England. In 2010, the first season/film of The Trip from the BBC received an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's critical acclaim meant it was later picked up by Sky. Article continues below Fifteen years later the new season will follow them as they embark on a journey across the untamed landscapes of northern Europe, from avant-garde Swedish hotels to secluded Norwegian fishing cabins, showcasing their signature mix of humour, competitive spirit, and introspective musing. The six part series will be under the direction of acclaimed British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, known for works like 'This England' and '24 Hour Party People', and produced by Revolution Films, Baby Cow Productions (Stever Coogan's company), and Small Man in collaboration with Sky Studios. Both Rob and Steve will be joining Michael as executive producers on the show. Steve Coogan remarked: "I'm delighted that Michael Winterbottom has managed to persuade me at the age of 59 to join Rob, aged 60, to squeeze the last few drops of comedy from a bottle that we both thought was pretty much empty." Their travels prompt discussions on life topics such as ageing, aspirations, family, and fame, often reflecting on their own experiences with podcasting disputes, BAFTA rivalries, and musings on James Bond, Ingmar Bergman, and thoughts of retirement. Who is Dominic McLaughlin? Meet the new Harry Potter of the HBO series
HBO's Harry Potter TV series has found its official Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Dominic McLaughlin is set to play the role of Harry, Arabella Stanton is Hermione and Alastair Stout is Ron. Since HBO launched an open casting call last fall, over 30,000 actors auditioned for the lead roles, Variety reported. Filming is set to start this summer. McLaughlin, who is set to play the titular character that was previously played by Daniel Radcliffe, has been described as a "screen newcomer' who got the role after auditioning in an open casting call for actors aged between 9 and 11. He was previously involved in projects like the Sky Original film Grow and the upcoming BBC series Gifted, both of which will release later this year. The three youngsters are going to join fellow cast members John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. 'After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.
