Rob Brydon will be reuniting with comedian and friend Steve Coogan to deliver a new season of The Trip. Five years on from their Grecian adventures, the duo are back together for 'The Trip to the Northern Lights'.
This will be the fifth season of their award winning Sky Original series, and will highlight the stark beauty of Northern Europe. Filming will begin in the picturesque landscapes of Scandinavia later this year, but for now the broadcaster have teased the start of the series.

Sky shared on Instagram: "Steve's here for the acclaim. Rob's here for the Scandi saunas." For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter .

A blend of sitcom, travel documentary, and contemplation of midlife, 'The Trip to the Northern Lights' presents Steve and Rob at their argumentative and ingenious peak.

In the past the pair have ventured to Italy, Spain, Greece and the original film was set across a restaurant tour of Northern England. In 2010, the first season/film of The Trip from the BBC received an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's critical acclaim meant it was later picked up by Sky.

Fifteen years later the new season will follow them as they embark on a journey across the untamed landscapes of northern Europe, from avant-garde Swedish hotels to secluded Norwegian fishing cabins, showcasing their signature mix of humour, competitive spirit, and introspective musing.
The six part series will be under the direction of acclaimed British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, known for works like 'This England' and '24 Hour Party People', and produced by Revolution Films, Baby Cow Productions (Stever Coogan's company), and Small Man in collaboration with Sky Studios. Both Rob and Steve will be joining Michael as executive producers on the show.
Steve Coogan remarked: "I'm delighted that Michael Winterbottom has managed to persuade me at the age of 59 to join Rob, aged 60, to squeeze the last few drops of comedy from a bottle that we both thought was pretty much empty."

Their travels prompt discussions on life topics such as ageing, aspirations, family, and fame, often reflecting on their own experiences with podcasting disputes, BAFTA rivalries, and musings on James Bond, Ingmar Bergman, and thoughts of retirement.
Rob Brydon expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming project, saying: "I'm so pleased to be heading out on a Trip once again, this time to beautiful Scandinavia and how lovely to do it while Steve Coogan, Michael Winterbottom and I still have most of our faculties."
Meghan Lyvers, executive director of Original Scripted at Sky UK and Ireland, shared her excitement: "We're excited to continue this iconic series with Steve, Rob and Michael. Their singular blend of comedy, character and cultural commentary feels as fresh as ever.

BBCSO/Ollikainen review – Stravinsky's sacrificial dance had serrated edges

A clarinet solo line carved, firm and fierce, out of the heatwave stuffiness. Twitches and rustles from the huge array of percussion. A bigger picture emerges, anchored by the deep throb of low brass. Bitonal parps cut through like car horns in gridlock. A century after its premiere, Edgard Varèse's Intégrales remains a beguiling listen – particularly in a performance as coolly loose-limbed as the BBC Symphony Orchestra served up under Finnish conductor Eva Ollikainen. Standing where the strings would normally be to marshal the piece's sparse wind, brass and percussion, Ollikainen made angular, hyper-efficient gestures. That not-for-show approach persisted throughout – with sonically spectacular results – as each item on the programme demanded an incrementally larger orchestra. The UK premiere of Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Before We Fall (Cello Concerto) began with a splash of cymbal and a tutti chord that disintegrated rapidly into tapping and sliding out of which soloist Johannes Moser soared, all generous vibrato and lyrical warmth. As with so many of Thorvaldsdottir's scores, the concerto has an elemental, immersive quality, its symphonic textures seeming at times to breath as if a living organism. Elsewhere, the orchestra was in danger of swallowing Moser's detailed passagework whole. Occasionally, the entire ensemble clicked briefly into tonal harmony – a remarkable, luminous effect. After the interval: Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring was performed with breathtaking clarity. The coordination was absolutely taut across the now-vast orchestra, the piece's sudden cut-offs of phrases and ideas brutal, Ollikainen maintaining a knife-edge balance between effortful, friction-heavy string playing and woodwind solos that might hail from another planet. The piece's tension between the mellow and the murderous, the natural and the machinic, felt genuinely high stakes: this sacrificial dance had serrated edges, every detail terrifying in its lucidity, its momentum intoxicating. The Rite's power was only increased by a cool-as-ice performance of Ravel's Boléro (earworm to end all earworms) at the end of the first half. Ollikainen's air of detachment came into its own here, holding back the tremendous power of Ravel's 13-minute crescendo until the very last minute so that the looping melody's final crash to earth came as a full-on orchestral catastrophe. Listen again on BBC Sounds until 12 October. The Proms continue until 13 September.

Strictly Come Dancing star Dani Dyer's dancing experience sparks 'fix' row

Strictly Come Dancing star Dani Dyer's dancing experience sparks 'fix' row Dani Dyer is the early favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing - but her odds could be slashed after it was revealed she has extensive dance experience Former Love Island star Dani Dyer has previously claimed to be a "qualified dancer" - a skill that could come in handy as she prepares to join the upcoming series of Strictly. ‌ The 29-year-old reality star, who is currently tipped as a favourite to win the show, has been open about her dance background, revealing she began training at the tender age of two. ‌ This revelation may raise questions about whether she holds an unfair advantage over her fellow celebrity contestants. ‌ Last year, trained dancer Tasha Ghouri faced criticism for her professional background, with some viewers labelling her participation as a 'fix'. The news comes as model Ellie Goldstein and two other celebrities have been announced for this year's line-up. The reality star and podcaster spoke of her excitement ahead of the series on The One Show (Image: BBC) Great British Bake Off judges and hosts confirmed as trailer for new series drops READ MORE: ITV This Morning stars rush to congratulate colleague after sweet baby announcement READ MORE: In her 2019 book, Dani detailed her early years attending theatre school every weekend from ages two to 14, where her knack for dancing was discovered. "It was called O'Farrell's Stage School and I was a really good little dancer," she recalled. Article continues below "I'm not a bad singer but it was the dance stuff I loved more - jazz, tap, ballet, modern. I'd get home and prance around the house.", reports the Mirror. In another section of the book, she drafts a hypothetical CV, listing under qualifications: "Qualified dancer and pretty good at singing (especially Dua Lipa or Ariana Grande at the top of her voice while cleaning the kitchen)." Last year Strictly became embroiled in controversy after signing Love Island's Tasha, 27, who possessed dance training. Actress Sarah Hadland and JLS member JB Gill faced similar accusations of having an unfair advantage due to their background experience. ‌ However, none of these contestants claimed victory, with the trophy ultimately going to Chris McCausland, the programme's first blind participant. Daughter of actor Danny Dyer, Dani says her dad has been a huge encouragement throughout her life (Image: Instagram/danidyerxx) In her memoir, Dani revealed her aspirations of gracing the BBC programme. She enthused: "If Strictly Come Dancing want to give me a call I'd also be happy to be whisked around the dance floor." ‌ At the time, Dani confessed that "the only thing I'd be worried about would be the curse" whilst she was in a relationship with Love Island co-star Jack Fincham. She also disclosed having a potential supporter on this year's series after forming a friendship with judge Shirley Ballas during a Comic Relief expedition. She described her as "just the most graceful, lovely person". Dani's entertainment journey began with disappointment, as she reveals in her bestselling memoir What Would Dani Do? My Guide to Living Your Best Life. At nine years old, she auditioned for a dancing role in the stage version of Billy Elliot - only to face rejection. ‌ However, it was her father Danny, 48, known for his roles in films including The Human Traffic and Football Factory, plus appearances in EastEnders and Rivals, who provided her initial opportunity. "It was so nerve-wracking and when I didn't get the part I was beside myself," she penned. Dani, married to footballer Jarrod Bowen, previously quipped about the Strictly curse when with ex Jack Fincham (Image: Jed Cullen/) "I cried all the way home. Mum bought me chunky chips and barbecue sauce to cheer me up, and I ate them with a plastic fork out of the container. ‌ "Neither she nor my dad wanted me going for auditions for a few years after that. Dad clearly saw something in me though, because a few years later he asked me to play a part in a film he was doing called Vendetta. "It was a bit random and out of the blue because I was at college (I studied musical theatre for a year but then dropped out) and he rang me up the day before filming to say that the actress who had been due to play the part had pulled out – she was meant to do a scene where she's dragged out of a car, but she'd found out she was pregnant so now didn't want to do it. "So, Dad said it was mine if I wanted it. 'Babe, I don't know if you fancy it but I've got this little role at the beginning of my film Vendetta?' Obviously, I did!" ‌ Dani then went on to win Love Island in 2018 with Jack Fincham. They split six months later. In May Dani married West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen, 28, in a lavish ceremony. The pair have twins Summer and Sky, two. Dani has son Santiago, four, from a previous relationship. Dani is the 4/1 favourite to lift the Glitterball Trophy of the nine celebrities to be announced. YouTuber George Clarke is the second-favourite at 6/1. Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes stated: "Dani Dyer is the current pick of this year's Strictly pack, but with contestants still to be announced, we could soon see someone waltz past her to the head of the betting." Article continues below Strictly is due to make its comeback on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this September.
