2025 The Rosebud: Skyhook, Pallaton duel for favouritism

Promising three-year-olds Pallaton and Skyhook share favouritism for Sydney's first stakes race of the new season, the Listed $200,000 The Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Nominations have been extended for the feature race after only eight entries were taken on Monday but TAB Fixed Odds price assessors have framed an opening market with Pallaton and Skyhook at the top of betting at $3.50, just shading Blitzburg at $4. Following the washout of last Saturday's Royal Randwick meeting, a bumper 239 entries were received for Rosehill with every race on Saturday having at least 19 nominations with the exception of The Rosebud and another three-year-old race, a Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m) which has 12 early entries. Sydney Cup winner Arapaho has been allocated the steadier of 65kg for the Spring Preview Handicap (1400m) but the stayer is expected to miss that race and instead resume in the Group 1 Winx Stakes at Royal Randwick on August 23. Bjorn Baker, trainer of Arapaho, is still likely to have multiple runners in the race with Robusto (62.5kg), Our Anchorage (57.5kg), Highlights (54.5kg) and War Eternal (54kg) also entered. Premier trainer Chris Waller has eight entries for the Spring Preview including comeback stayer More Felons (62kg) and The Metropolitan winner Land Legend (61kg). Emerging filly Karinska is the Waller stable's only Rosebud nomination. Rosehill will also host an all-important set of barrier trials this Friday after they were postponed for a second time on Tuesday. The opening two heats for the Friday session are for Group-class horses and will be run on the course proper. Team Hayes -trained Evaporate at $3.

Group 3 Black Opal Stakes victor King Of Pop is in a 900m heat with two-time winner Grand Eagle also down to trial over 900m. 'Those two-year-olds that raced well in the autumn, those four colts are coming up good,' Ryan said. 'We have a couple of fillies that haven't raced that we have a bit of time for too. 'Blitzburg for certain will go to the Rosebud and we will decide on Skyhook after Tuesday morning. Skyhook winning the Pago Pago Stakes in March. Photo:. 'King Of Pop will wait and go to the San Domenico and Grand Eagle will probably start off in a Benchmark race and go to the Ming Dynasty.' Blitzburg's two-year-old season was reduced to four starts but the son of Snitzel made a strong impression, winning the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) on February 1. The talented colt had has had a long and steady build up for his return and was a winner of his most recent trial over 900m on July 29. 'Blitzburg has been in work a long time,' Ryan said. 'He had a small chip taken out of the bottom of his front joint after he won the Canonbury and that's why we had to stop with him. 'He went out in February and was back in work in the first week of April, on the water walker.' Recent Sydney Saturday winner Nashville Jack is expected to be among the nominations for the Rosebud while West Of Swindon could be in line to make his debut for new trainer Ciaron Maher. The Rosebud will now be the first stakes race of the new season in Sydney after the decision was made not to reschedule Saturday's Group 2 $300,000 Missile Stakes when the meeting was abandoned due to wet weather. The Premier's Cup Prelude over 1800m has been moved to Wednesday's Randwick Kensington card. Expro secures Trion oil project contract in Mexico

Energy services provider Expro has secured a three-year contract from Woodside Petróleo Operaciones de México (Woodside Energy) for the Trion deepwater oil and gas development offshore Mexico. As part of this agreement, Expro is set to provide cementing services and tubular running services (TRS) for the project. This project marks a milestone as Mexico's first deepwater oil production facility, indicating a pivotal moment in the region's energy development. This contract is expected to enhance Expro's footprint in the country's deepwater operations. The company is setting up a new hub in Tampico, contributing to local employment and economic growth. Woodside Energy has its shore base and office in the area, from where it will manage operations. The energy services provider will bring its differentiated well construction technologies to the Trion project, providing a comprehensive solution from top drive to target depth. The services under the contract encompass TRS casing, completion, and drilling support, along with the supply of casing accessories, cement heads, and the innovative Skyhook system. Expro's strategy focuses on driving cost effectiveness, optimising well performance, and ensuring operational reliability throughout the lifespan of the project. Expro well construction vice-president Jeremy Angelle said: 'With our extensive track record and a reputation as a trusted provider of TRS solutions, we are proud to play a key role in this world-class development. 'This project represents an exciting opportunity to showcase our innovative technologies on a historic deepwater development, and we look forward to building a strong, long-term partnership with Woodside in Mexico.' The Trion field is situated in the Perdido Fold Belt, around 180km off the Mexican coastline in the Gulf of Mexico, with water depths reaching approximately 2,500m. As a joint venture between Woodside Energy and Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), the project is set to achieve its first oil by 2028. Earlier this year, Expro had also won multi-year TRS contracts with two other operators in the Gulf of America.
